October 17, 200718 yr I love this program but the number of controllers at each centre is very annoying! Is there a way to cut it back to one controller per centre?Up the Irons!!
October 17, 200718 yr There can be several controllers per center as the center region of responsibility can be divided up into several sectors both horizontally and vertically. One or several controllers might take you through phases of climb or descent depending on congestion. This divides the workload into manageable levels for each controller. During cruise assigned flight levels may be assigned to different controllers as well. The same is true of approach and departure where at first a controller is assigned by initial departure or arrival direction but you could easily cross into routes managed by other controllers during the transition to enroute facilities. During very quiet times sometimes a control will manage more than one sector due to the light workload. So mimicking real world management you will be dealing with several controllers through each phase and more where common traffic points lead to congestion.
October 18, 200718 yr Author Thanks Ron. Realistic for sure. I've started using ctrl-shift-k through the busy centres as I find it annoying to be always tuning different frequencies. I guess that I'm used to Vatsim where there is usually only one controller per centre (or none!)Up the Irons!!
October 18, 200718 yr You also have an option setting in RC to autotune your comms thereby bypassing your tuning but still requiring you from the menu to press your selected response button for acknowledge. This allows a repeat of an instruction if necessary. Don't wait too long to acknowledge though as in this version RC can stall in crediting your waypoints and next instruction.
