November 26, 200718 yr Hi fellow simmers!Just got the RC 4 and its up and running, how ever I dont know this software from a hole in the ground =)I am following the first tutorial flight from Des Moines to Chicago, but whn I press #2 on my keyboard nothing happens? I am aware that I have missed something crucial, but what?Do I have to disable the FS ATC for RC to work and respond?RegardsLiam
November 26, 200718 yr Commercial Member no you don't have to disable fs atcdo you have another add-on that might be grabbing the "2" key, before i see it?change the rc keyboard assignment to ctrl-shift-2, and ctrl-shift-1 and use those going forward. see if that helpsalso, make sure the main fs window is what has "focus" when you press those keyif you still can't get it to work, follow the instructions at the top of the forum, and produce a .log and send it to mejd JD Read my blog
November 26, 200718 yr Thanx JDI was a bit hasty, after following the instructions and changing the settings in the FSX sound and atc the buttons now work =)However when using the tutorial in the RC manual things seem a little out of date, since the first tutorial KDSM-KORD is based on fs9? I cant find the same route in my FSBuild. When loading the IFR to my GPS i find myself in a grass feild at Des Moines airport =)The gate used in the tutorial is not in the fsx KDSM airport, could this be the reson?RegardsLiam
November 26, 200718 yr Have you done a scenery rebuild? Also, if you start from a saved parked flight out of airport range, RC will move you to the mapped center of the airport named in your plan. That is why it is important to run the scenery utility so RC has the same airport origin data as your installed scenery. It is likely the tutorial route in the manual was created in the FS9 planner and that data is different from FSX. RC uses the .pln data created by your planner at all of that data is in a lattitude, longitude, label format. You can create your plan in FSB and export in the FS9/FSX format for RC to be loaded and used. Just make sure your departure airport in FSB and where you are parked in FSX match.
November 26, 200718 yr Hi Ronzie!ThanxYes I used the update twice(maybe I did it wrong), I pressed the button and when asked to fill in the path to my FS file I pasted it in and pressed ok. The process took about 10 minutes and updated airports and runways...thousands of them...then it finshed and i pressed ok...so I am sure that I did it right?Yes maybe the reason that I am in the feild is because of something i did in FSB, I am not familiar with FSB at all =)I bought it yesterday together with RC 4!I
