Marlon Carter checks out three DVDs from Just Planes covering aircraft from 3 airlines including the 737-800, A320, Dash 8 and A330-200 traveling to destinations like Mykonos, Dusseldorf, Helsinki, Isle of Man and London City. Watch the flight crew perform their duties, take a walk around some of the aircraft and take a tour of the Flybe operations terminal.

Air Berlin

Highlights

Air Berlin is a must have DVD. It starts off with a few clips of the 737 and A320 landing at Dusseldorf which is followed by flights to Palma and Bilbao onboard the A320.

During this flight segment I really enjoyed the scenic views from the cockpit as well as the thorough walk around presentations, cockpit presentations and wing views on the final trip from Dusseldorf to Palma.

Following the A320 flights, we hop onboard the 737-800 and Fk100 to destinations such as Oviedo, Stansted, Berlin TXL and Helsinki. The segment that I enjoyed the most was the final flight from Berlin to Helsinki on board the 737-800 where our female First Officer nicely sets the 737 down at Helsinki in strong crosswinds. I also enjoyed the walkaround presentation which was very thorough and informative.

I think that this DVD would be a great addition to your Just Planes collection and it will definitely appeal to your Boeing and Airbus fans out there.

Highlights

This DVD starts off with a presentation from the Flight Operations Director on the history and fleet of the company. This was followed by a tour of the Operations Center, Call Center and Engineering Hangar of Flybe. These segments were very interesting as it shows the behind the scene action that keeps airlines such as Flybe operating smoothly. Now it’s time for the flight segment of the DVD.

Our first few flights focus on the Dash 8 Q400 and 200 series. Some of the destinations visited were Cork, Guernsey, Belfast City, Isle of Man, London City and Jersey. The next segments focus on BAE 146 and finally the CRJ-200. Some of the destinations visited on these flights were Genava, Brussels, Glasglow and Bergamo. While these flights did not feature extensive communication between the flight crew and the viewers, there were instances where the crew took the opportunity to chat with the viewers on departure and approach procedures and a cockpit presentation on the BAE 146.

In between some of these flights, there were more company presentations by the flight operations director as he takes the viewers on a tour of the Flybe terminal.

One of the highlights of this DVD that stood out the most was the amazing scenery from the cockpit while flying in and around London onboard the Dash 8 and 146. To me this was the true highlight of this DVD along with the company presentations.

Overall this was a great DVD and one that is definitely a must have for your collection. It’s not often that the UK allows Just Planes to film DVD so I recommend you get this one while you still can!

Highlights

Another DVD for the Airbus fans out there. This DVD follows the flight crew of Eurofly to destinations such as Mykonos, Colombo and Male onboard the A320 and A330-200. There were many highlights from the DVD that are worth mentioning.

Just to name a few, I was very impressed with the professional nature of the flight crew as they carried out their duties. I also enjoyed the short presentation on their computer based flight planning software, walk around of the A320 and scenic views from the cockpit on takeoff and especially on approach to Male with the islands of the Maldives in clear view.

Other aspects of this DVD that may be of interest to you are cabin and cockpit presentations onboard the A320 and A330 respectively. Overall this was a very entertaining DVD that features beautiful destinations and equally beautiful aircrafts. Just Planes did a great job on this one!

Summary/Closing Remarks

Once again, these DVDs were an absolute pleasure to watch and I think anyone who loves aviation will enjoy them. At a cost of $25-30 each they are a bargain. These are perfect for days when you what to see or do something aviation related but also want to enjoy the comforts of home. Just Planes has really stepped up their editing and production of their DVDs and I am sure we will continue to see more innovations in their future products.
