  1. Personally, I would stay away from stuff like that. Less than a month seems way too fast to really learn the skills required to be safe. I don't think it's good to be stuck on a schedule, where you have to be finished that quickly. Take your time, go at your own pace, and have fun.
  2. We were allowed 22 gallons of gas. 13 in the right tank and 11 in the left. The stick has a little more throw than I'm used to, so that gets a little weird. Seems like it goes so far forward!I'm scheduled to go up on Sunday, hopefully the winds will be as nice as they were before. :-)
  3. I went up in the Citabria on Saturday. You weren't kidding about the rudder, really takes a lot to counteract the adverse yaw.Slips were crazy. Couldn't believe we were getting 2000 fpm descent at 70 knots while in the pattern! :-eek Ryan seems like a good guy. Think I'll enjoy flying with him.3 Point landings weren't really a big deal, but we'll start doing some Wheel landings next time, as well as some acro. :-jumpy
  4. Sounds like it was alot of fun. Sorry I couldn't make it out. Was working on my car on Saturday, and Sunday I had to do some school stuff. :-( BTW, how'd your flight in the Citabria go? I'm gonna see about scheduling a few flights for that in the next week or so. A few weeks ago, I got a flight in a Socata TB-30 at Deland. That was the first time I'd done any acro, and it was great. 200 knots into a 4G loop was incredible! (-: http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69313.jpg
  5. I live in Deltona, but fly from Orlando (Air Orlando) and Daytona (Embry-Riddle). I'm a Commercial Pilot with Instrument Rating. Will start Multi this fall. Orlando is great, but it can get a bit busy. I've been down your way once. Flew along the coast from Daytona to Marathon. It's beautiful down there, especially at sunset. :-) http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/68250.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/68251.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/68252.jpg
  6. Congrats on the flight Ken! Flying really is a lot of fun, everyone here should at least go for a Discovery Flight. :-) Here's a couple pictures of my flight from Orlando to Mobile last summer.http://home.cfl.rr.com/mkaprocki/Mobile.jpghttp://home.cfl.rr.com/mkaprocki/Mobile1.jpg
  7. This will notify you whenever a key_event is triggered.void FSAPI EventHandler (ID32 event, UINT32 evdata, PVOID userdata){ if (event == KEY_SPOILERS_TOGGLE) { //user has toggled the spoilers }}In the gauge callback:register_key_event_handler((GAUGE_KEY_EVENT_HANDLER)EventHandler, 0);andunregister_key_event_handler((GAUGE_KEY_EVENT_HANDLER)EventHandler,0);Hope it'll be as useful to you as it's been to us. :-)
  8. I've only tested this with L: vars, so I don't know if this will work with anything else.To Read an XML var:ID MyID = check_named_variable("MyCustomVar");FLOAT64 val = get_named_variable_value(MyID);To Write an XML var:ID MyID = check_named_variable("MyCustomVar");set_named_variable_value(MyID,NewVal);NewVal is a FLOAT64.Enjoy! :-)
  9. FWIW, it may not be directly available, but you can read FS memory to get the state of all the lights. ;-)
  10. Each class has different weather requirements, ATC, etc. Class B is a busy airport like Chicago O'Hare, while Class D would be a smaller towered airport. Obviously, Chicago will have different requirements than an airport that gets nothing but 172s.Check the AIM for more specific info:http://www.faa.gov/ATpubs/AIM/Chap3/aim0302.html
  11. The Approach Plate shows the ILS heading as 359
  12. FWIW, that ILS is a Cat 1, which means that you can only decend to 200' AGL on the GS. At 200' you'll have to fly it visually, which means it's not accurate enough for the autopilot to land you right on the numbers. ;-)
  13. Not sure how far off you're talking, but the real one is a few degrees off of runway heading.;)
  14. Sorry about that, my mistake....swprintf is what you want, not wsprintf. D'oh!WCHAR value_buffer<5>;swprintf(value_buffer, L"%f", .5);
  15. It's possible your ISP may be having issues with our DNS server. There's not really a whole lot you can do, except try to get access to a computer that uses a different ISP.
  16. >I am at 50 minutes wait now. GeofA, head on over to our website and click the Live Help button. We'll take care of this right now.
  17. You'll be given access to the download as soon as the credit card is confirmed, which should be almost instantly. ;-)
  18. Hey Volker! SAVAS has a review up at http://www.savas.co.za/nreview.phpThere is a comparison of our panel to a shot of a real one. Like Etti said, most homebuilt panels are really pretty boring. But like you said, it does come down to personal preferance.
  19. I may be a little partial, but I would also have to say 5. :D We have a bunch of pics of the VC and every other aspect of the RV-7 on our website, check it out. ;-)
  20. With all of the failure and damage modeling enabled, you'll have to fly her just like you would a real plane. However, if the user wishes, they can easily turn off all of these options and do whatever he/she wants. ;)
  21. The bus is in fact closer to the camera than the airplane. You can see the right main gear through the windows of the bus.
  22. I think we're forgetting about St. Maarten. ;-) http://www.airliners.net/open.file/222258/M/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/201517/M/
  23. It is possible to load a bitmap resource like a needle with GDI+ and rotate like a normal one. It's not easy however, and is quite slow. The transforms really hit the frame rate.
