Fellow simmers .....I post occasionally, read the forums constantly, not only here but also at allnodesbusy.com and about a half dozen newsgroups. It seems most of the comments about the upcoming release ( o'man this wait is taking forever ) are reasonably positive but even at pre-release the whinners' are starting to creep out of their holes !! So when you ( and YOU know who you are ) are about to make a statement such as ........"It should be easy to just .... " re: fix de jour or "I would think several lines of code would be all that's needed to ..." or "If MS really cared it would not have been a problem to include blah, blah" and the ever popular " This sim is a piece of crap !!!" please consider my request, a simple one really.Much like many of us go to great lengths to describe their systems at the close of a post ( I do get really green with envy , so stop it !!! ) would it be to much to ask that the future "critical" poster please list their programming and or systems design experience at the close of the post. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion but if we knew what level and type of computer programming/design experience you had attained we could better relate to your post/concern.And lastly, if you don't understand what it takes to do really serious object oriented programming in a graphics/gaming environment you should really consider what you complain about before you click on post. Hope I have not offended anyone and I'm going to take my medication now .....Can't wait for FS2004 ( Ya, I'm a ringer and and ol' programmer !!! )JimBob

The good thing about the "DW" channel is that if you miss the first airing you will have at least 300 chances to see it again !!!!JimBob

I looked on the FSbuild forum and noticed the same complaint there. I imagine it will be corrected fairly quickly ..... I hope so cause it looks like a heck of a piece of software !!!JimBob

Thanks to you also! Interesting what one learns when one starts to take something apart and put it back together a little differently. Once I started thinking about the variables involved and what could be changed it became apparent that this could get pretty complex if I let it. I decided not to ..... "KISS" method first time through !Thanks again,JimBob

Thanks for the response, that's what I thought ...... so I guess it's time to start writing the utility program. JimBob

I've seen some screenshots where the AI A/C in view do not display the registration number but the Airline and Flight # which , to me at least, are a lot more meaningful. Sooo ........Question #1 .... As far as I can tell that registration # does not serve any real function as far as the operation of FS2002 AI goes. ( If it does please tell me now before I really screw the pooch ! ) cause I want to replace the reg. # on commercial flights with the A/L name and flight #. ( I will make a back-up ).Question #2 .... Before I start writing code does there already exist a utility to do the replacement.Again stepping onto the "Rickety Bridge"TIAJimBob

Question for jd or whomever might know
JimBob replied to JimBob's topic in Radar Contact Support Forum
jd,Sorry, my mistake also ! I've been using the 3.01 and thought I was getting 3.1, I'll read my e-mails a little closer next time.JimBob -
Downloaded the new 3.1 and copied same into my RC3 directory. When I execute the program either via the desktop icon, programs list or directly in the Radar Contact directory I get the 3.0.1732 splash screen dated 12/22/02 and the RC start-up screen showing Version 3.01. I have cleaned my system of all traces of 3.01 ( did not go into registery ) but still get the same results. Is it my system or is what I am seeing correct.PS .... Is that "spamming" practice you are up to or did a blind mail list bite you in the butt ?JimBob

Noticed in a response to the above named post that a Southwest paint job for the 737-200 was available in the SG/FFX "Full Pack" at allnodesbusy.com ( clever alias by the way ). Guess what, logged on first time, hunted down the file ( 14+ MB ) and started the download just to get the SW texture. Well my D/L mgr advised me that we could manage it in approx. 1/2 hour ( why don't you authors post to AVSIM dang'it ). So the jist of all this is could someone e-mail me just the Southwest texture file for the SG/FFX 737-200. It would be most appreciated.TIAJimBobjimbrust@comcast.net

My home AP is KPHL and for some time ( maybe forever ) when I switch to tower view all I sometimes see is the back of a building. When I look at the map view in FS2002 the tower ( I am assuming it is the red square ) is way out of place compared to the real thing. If I use FSNav and move the tower view to the south side of the field near the UPS facility where it really is, all is fine ( I can see clearly now ), sing if you wish !!. I have no KPHL add-ons and am curious if anyone knows how to relocate the tower to its correct position. TIAJimBob

Project Fokker 100/70 heading hold problem
JimBob replied to JimBob's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
EdI don't think that that problem is limited to the Fokker project. Almost every passanger jet I fly ( or have flown ) in FS2002 has on occasion exhibited that tendency. Radar Contact 2.x was a real stickler for holding the heading after T/O and prior to contacting departure. I was always getting yelled at when I would click on the A/P and heading and the aircraft would make a momentary drift to the right. Did not occur in FS2000 but is a regular happening in FS2002. Matter of fact it was one of the first oddball things I noticed in FS2002. If it's something in my system I sure have not been able to find the cause !!JimBob -
Andrew,Same thing drove me crazy as I like night flying but don't always like turning the panel off. This fix worked for me!Check out http://www.fsgateway.com/tips_read.asp?id=453Good LuckJimBob

Ya know, I usually pretty much stay with posts relating to simming but as I was cruising that "other" site looking for downloads I happen to lurk, oops, I mean look in on the OM feedback forum. Man are we lucky to have this quality of forum. Maybe its the time of year but thanks to all who post and help so freely. It really could be worst !!!!

OK I admit it, i'm just a big kid but I was on vacation when the current owner URL came out and I just placed my order on Saturday. At the close of the order I got the dreaded "please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery". Can JD or someone please tell me that it's just one of those "CYA" statements cause if it is really gonna be 2-4 weeks I'm gonna have to go somewhere quiet and cry, or something !!!!JimBob

There have been a lot of freeware add-on's and I count this one as right up near the top and would hate to see it die and un-necessary death. Is this a process that could be passed along to someone else to continue the development or is the process a secured possession of the original developer of the web site. I'm an old programmer, currently long term disabled and have the time and background ( I think ) to , at least in the short term , learn the process and continue some development. If for no other reason that I would like to have signs for the larger airports I fly out of in the northeast. Just thinking out loud!
