  1. Thanks. It is associated with the '2' key, my error. I went through that box to check, but since I was looking for F2.. But I can't really just uncheck the box in PFE, or I presumably won't be able to use the '2' key at all... I have to investigate under what circumstances the '2' key is used for ATIS..
  2. Just happened again! I see in Task Manager that CPU usage for fs9.exe when this happens is zero, and in Process Monitor, fs9.exe no longer appears in the 'Process Name' column.
  3. Hi, thanks for the ideas. It's not system resources though, I have a 'gadget' on the second monitor and I rarely have less than 3GBs of free RAM (not virtual memory). I can wait till the cows come home and nothing further happens, I have to close the process in TM.. Difficult to troubleshoot as it happens, as I say, only relatively rarely.
  4. Some cockpit videos, as requested (I've repainted my PSSa319 since my last post, to get the better panel), Martin
  5. This happens only perhaps 10-20% of the time. When I go to Flight Planner in the FS menu bar and scroll down to click on a saved flight plan (.pln) in the drop-down window, FS9 hangs. Nothing I click on then functions and the only way to 'escape' is to close the FS9.exe process in the Task manager. (In fact, it is so common that I have created a link to a batch file on my desktop which does this!). When I restart FS and try the same again, same a/c, same plan, it invariably then works fine, so it's not the plan itself that is at fault (created by FSNavigator). Happens with whatever plane I am flying, and whatever airport as far as I can see.. It's been happening for two years maybe, but it seems so difficult to troubleshoot that I have just put up with it. But if anyone has any ideas.. Thanks.
  6. :-) I have the Kathmandu scenery as well (too distant in the first screenshot to tell!): I worked for a while in Kathmandu, so I fly there quite a lot (in FS I mean: nostalgia!). Would love to visit Bhutan, but .... The a/c is ifdg_a319_druk_air.zip in the AVSIM file library. M
  7. Kind of thing that drives me nuts!! I know I removed the Aerosoft Lukla scenery from the setup before posting, with no change. Now I go back to test in more detail, removing batches of sceneries until I find the one installing these textures, it is indeed the Aerosoft Lukla folder. Doubtless I did something wrong first time... The bgl files that create this effect are the ones ending in _5. Given what I say above, maybe all this vegetation is due to a replacement texture file I have installed somewhere since I last flew this region. I'd still be interested to know then if anyone who has the AS Lukla scenery gets the same thing. Here is the view with the _5.bgl files disabled...
  8. I wonder if anyone who has a few moments could see what their landclass looks like just south of Lukla airport (see screenshot).Last time I flew there the river valleys didn't look like this (i.e. green!). I have the Aerosoft Lukla scenery installed, but disabling that changes nothing. The sheer mountain sides are also very dark green, instead of rock. I have disabled all my landclass files for the sake of experiment, but the effect is similar: a tiny variation with changes of the season, but basically very similar. I have been to this very spot (trekking of course) and the river valleys are not full of vegetation like this, let alone the vertical mountain slopes! Will continue troubleshooting meanwhile, but comments appreciated. Martin
  9. Searching for the term 'door' in this forum gives me zero results, which I wasn't expecting. I haven't flown this a/c for ages (since I bought the PMDG 747), but giving it a spin for a change. Nice work.. But how do I open the cargo doors? Martin
  10. Flew VNKT to VQPR, but onto rwy 33 this time. Thought some might like to see screenshots. Quite thrilling weaving one's way between the mountains. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/425189-kathmandu-to-paro/ The video I mentioned in here: High-Definition video looks great!! Martin
  11. Just posting this subsequent to my post here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/425181-paro-airport-vqpr-runways-in-use/ Martin
  12. Thanks very much! I did actually find this report yesterday during my various searches (but not as a pdf file) and made a desktop shortcut to the page: hadn't got round to reading it yet though.. Not sure if Rwy15 is used by Druk Air though? Martin
  13. Are (real-world) aircraft able to land (or take off) on Rwy15 as well as 33? A comment I heard from a pilot during a landing at Paro (video downloaded from YouTube - highly recommended) seemed to suggest not. In addition, the only chart I can find (Jeppesen) only shows approaches at 328degs to Rwy33, so I am guessing landing real a/c on Rwy15 is not possible? Everything I have found re. rwy15 by Googling relates to FS9 or FSX! Martin
  14. Thanks for the information. If I can't get a replacement for the N52 on eBay or wherever, I may look at the G13. If I have to rewrite all my profiles, so be it I guess.
  15. Yes, I can request that in PFE. Or, as I say, simply wait till I am over FL100 before engaging VNAV..
  16. Thanks, simple solution! I have deleted the Ctrl+S assignment in the FS menu, so I'll see if that helps. It only happened very occasionally, so it may be a while before I see whether the 'solution' is a solution, but I guess with no keyboard shortcut in the fs9.cfg file now, I shouldn't be able to get this view (apart from via the FS9 menu bar).
  17. OK, thanks. I asked because my PFE ATC tells me to reduce speed to 250KIAS if I exceed it. I could turn that feature off. In any case, the a/c is not too heavy to maintain 250kts, as it climbs just fine at lower speeds when I input them via the A/Thr. It's only engaging VNAV which causes the plane to accelerate to beyond 250KIAS. I guess I can just climb to FL100 without activating VNAV.. Is it not possible then to reduce that figure of 258 by a manual input?
  18. Hi. Can someone please help me here? I probably don't use more than 5% of the FMC function when I fly, just what I need to get to the V1,VR,V2 page OK - I should print off the FMC guide so that I can read it properly, but it's so long and printer ink is so expensive :-) Be that as it may, I can't see how to set what should be a basic function - to restrict my speed to 250KIAS below 10000'! Please see screenshot. I have entered the restriction in the CDU, but it still says 258 at the top (and that's the speed I get in VNAV): for the life of me I can't see where that figure of 258 is coming from. I am sure the answer is is so simple that I am going to feel a bit silly, but never mind! Many thanks, Martin
  19. Sometimes FS9 decides to switch to 'top-down' view, without (apparently) any input from me. I can't get out of this view then without using the FS menu bar. is it possible to remove this view completely (in the fs9.cfg file???) as I never use it and it is just a nuisance when this happens. Googled it, but no joy... Thanks, Martin
  20. As far as I can see from the Belkin website, the Nostromo N52 isn't manufactured any more. Can't see anything equivalent on their site at all in fact. (I think Razor has taken over manufacture of these gamepads?). I have one that works OK, but the red switcher button is playing up. I 100% need this for my flightsim and am bracing myself for it giving up the ghost altogether any time soon (I've had it years and years). Amazon shows some 'Nostromo' pads, but they are not by Belkin. If I do get a replacement, I want one that will automatically read my .ldt and .n52 profiles - I don't fancy the idea of starting them all from scratch! (In Amazon reviews BTW, people say they have replaced their original N52s as they didn't work in Windows 7 x64. Odd, as my N52 works fine in this O/S). Be that as it may, has anyone got a Razor Nostromo Keypad', or similar? Does it read .n52 profiles & .ldt loadouts? If not, any you know that do? Maybe I should bid for old Belkin Nostromo N52s on eBay.. Thanks, Martin
  21. OK, just found an option in PF2000 Emulator 'use PFE ATIS'. I unchecked it and I'll see what happens - but I still don't see why it's associated with the F2 key, if this is indeed the reason I get the pop-up.
  22. Can anyone tell me what the source of this message is? It pops up when I press F2 (which is already in use), but I can't seem to locate the programme that is producing it, even though I've searched and searched the programme interfaces. (I thought it was most probably PFE, but F2 is not one of the keyboard assignment possible there, as far as I can see). http://forum.avsim.net/topic/285517-pro-flight-emulaotr/ Googling didn't help either. It could be coming from FSUIPC (registered version), Oncourse Software's FDC, or PFE (as I say), or PMDG's 747-400.. At least those are the most likely... but could be something else. I'll be grateful if someone is able to identify where this is coming from, so I can turn it off! Thanks, Martin
  23. Well, maybe we need to lobby the scenery creators! I did make an airport once (Chennai, on AVSIM) but it was only a stopgap, soon superseded. I couldn't create the kind of airport I have in my mind for Kuwait.. So.. who's up for it?
  24. Well, there is none, freeware or payware, apart from one very simple file that adds some gates. Please feel very free to contradict me! Otherwise, any takers among scenery creators more up to the task than I am? (FRF??)... Martin
