  1. Tom,In take your point, but I think it's a pity that the authors, having decided to close their website, should have failed to carry out their intention to make their files available on other websites.Let's hope they visit this forum and do something to help.David Hanstater
  2. Shad,The licence says that it is forbidden to distribute the package without the author's written permission. Unfortunately, my e-mail to them has been returned as undeliverable, I suspect as a direct result of the closure of the MRAI website. It looks as though the authors have relinquished their rights to this freeware package, so I wonder if AVSIM would consider it safe for me to upload it to the library.David Hanstater
  3. You are no doubt aware that the MRAI Website closed at the end of September. They said that they intended to uplaod their files to AVSIM, but this doesn't appear to have happened. There are lots of MRAI flightplan packages in the AVSIM library, but unfortunately not the MRAI Installer.I am surprised that no-one seems to have suggested uploading the Installer package to the AVSIM library.I have a copy of the MRAI Installer V1.24, which I believe is the latest one. Would there be any objection to my uploading it to the AVSIM library?David Hanstater
  4. Yesterday, Friday 24th October 2003, at about 16:30, I was casually looking out of my window (I live about 14 miles N of Heathrow EGLL) when I spotted a Concord flying over. I knew this was the last flight, and my TV was on showing another 2 Concords about to land at Heathrow. By chance I had my camera handy, with a telephoto lens attached. I quickly pointed it through the window glass and took the attached snap. It's a bit fuzzy, but there will never be another chance to take such a photo.David H
  5. Hi Mike,Yes, it does help, more than a bit. This is a fascinating website, and all the information I need is there. Thanks for your help.David H>this may help a bit...>>http://perso.wanadoo.fr/hsors/FS_Soft/>>let me know
  6. Can anyone help me with understanding .AIR files for FS2004?I have AirEd, but there is very little help offered with this software.Microsoft's aircraft container SDK for FS2002 has full details of aircraft.cfg, most of which applies to FS2004, but apart from a brief reference to .AIR files...nothing!Help, please!David H
  7. Hi Matt,Thanks for the info. I visited Projectai some time ago to find out about RAFCAD, but found it too complicated to set up. Maybe I'll have another go with AFCAD2 in FS2004.David H>Here is some more info.>>http://afcad.projectai.com/documents/AFCAD2004_FAQ.html>>Matt

  9. I'm not a techie, but I believe that the current position is as follows:-I know how you feel. But it's not just AFCAD. For FS2004 Microsoft have changed the system for embedding airport information which in FS2002 was stored in AFD files. As I understand it, this means that none of the scenery design programs which used these files will work completely in FS2004. For example, new airports will not show in 'Goto Airport' and ATC will not recognise them, although visually they will show in FS, so it will be possible to fly in and out of them - if you can find them - and no ATC. In fact some have already appeared. Scenery can be added to existing airfields, but repositioning runways is problematic at present. It's only a matter of time before it's sorted out, probably with an SDK. I imagine that when AFCAD 2 is ready the other scenery freeware design programs like FSSC and Airport will also be updated, as they will be using the same information.David H
  10. I've just upgraded to an Evesham Evolution Computer.Spec as follows:-Processor: P4 3.2Ghz Processor1GB RAM160GB Hard DriveMotherboard: Intel D875PBZGraphics: Nvidia GeForce FX5900 UltraSound: Creative Audigy2 PlatinumMonitor: Samsung Syncmaster 191T flat screen. The result: FS runs smoothly using the default settings and more. Even the densest add-on scenery, heavy clouds and add-on aircraft still don't significantly affect frame rates, which I've locked at 25FPS. Fantastic!THE FUTURE?I understand that Intel do not intend to release any faster 32-bit P4 processors, as they - and Athlon - are now moving on to a new range of 64-bit processors. There seems to be some doubt as to whether much current software will work with these new processors, which will require at least 4GB RAM. This sounds expensive.I've heard that Athlon will be releasing their new processor onto the retail market in the Autumn, but Intel intend to restrict theirs to servers and business users.Does anyone have any more reliable information?David H
  11. I've never heard of fsgateway. They've sure got a scoop on the new AFCAD. It looks terrific!I suppose we'll have to wait patiently till October.David HanstaTER
  12. Last night I downloaded yRoute Beta for FS2004, and it works with TTools v.2.There is no manual with it, but I soon discovered that the trick is to go to 'Settings' and enter the correct paths, then to click on the 'load selected plans' button. Select flightplans030528.txt. It then asks if you want to load the associated airport.txt and aircraft.txt files. Say 'yes' and yRoute loads.Like many others, I'm waiting for a good TTools front end. yRoute can be used to create new traffic, but I haven't tried using it yet.David Hanstater
  13. I'm waiting for it as well.Lee Swordy has released TTools V.2 which now works with both FS2002 and FS2004.In the manual he refers to AFCAD 2 but says nothing about it.I intend to write to him to ask how he is getting on with it, because we are all waiting for it.He does a great job, and we all owe him a great vote of thanks.David Hanstater
