  1. Hi Bryan, Thanks for your suggestion which as is as usual spot on the money. My foul up was in the audio settings and all is now well, I am back to being surrounded by a large and competent staff! Not the first time you have rescued me, thanks again. Brian
  2. Glen, Thank you for your reply. I would confirm that I do indeed press “ Run preflight events” in the Config window and the timer does run down to zero. I have observed that fs2crew does close the cargo doors at 3 mins, as it should, but does not close the forward passenger door at the end of timer count down as it should! I should point out that I have used the programme over a number of years, including the 737ngx version, quite successfully. This problem has only recently surfaced following a few months away from my fs! Maybe It’s something I said to the senior stewardess! Got to be so careful these days. Brian
  3. Hi Bryan, I am not getting any support from cabin staff in voice or actions. It is just as though they are not aboard! I get no request to start boarding, or pre start report from the senior cabin attendant and the doors are not closed by fs2crew. Also, I do not hear a word from the FO prior to my initiation of the pre start procedures, which I am sure that I should. For instance, I seem to remember he would tell me that he was off for his pre flight walk around and later report all was well. Once into the checklists and flight procedures communication with my FO goes as normal. I am using the latest version of fs2crew B737NGX reboot Prepar3D v4. My fs is prepar3dv4.5. Config pages are set for airline operation (not military) and I have checked that the option for fs2crew to operate doors and air stairs is selected. All this using SOP1. I have reinstalled fs2crew with no improvement. Can you help? Brian.
  4. Thank you both for your suggestions. I had indeed printed out the manual, all of it. My problem stemmed from the fact that I had not read it carefully enough. I am usually very intolerant of reading posts the originators of which have omitted to read manuals. Just goes to show that one should not stand in a glasshouse and throw stones!! I must add that I thought that my reading of the manual had been quite diligent but had failed to read the small print. All is now going very well and I am delighted with this addon. Thank you Bryan and your fellow developers, for your not inconsiderable effort in making the PMDG J4100 one of the most powerful addon aircraft available to serious simmers. All that and a Manual of such detail too, :( Best regards,Brian.
  5. Bryan,Thank you very much for your prompt reaction to my enquiry. In my example the mode was showing as "Before Start" but with no "+". and my audio is set up for the correct device, indeed was working properly until getting to the "Before Start". I had started the flight from a cold & dark situation and things were working well. I do accept that I have made mistakes during my use of this superb addon mainly in the use of wrong phraseology and the learning curve I find steep, however whilst understanding the errors which I know to be mine, I find the FO`s sudden unexplained silences and my lack of finding a way to get him up and running again a bit annoying. At the moment I would not feel confident in conducting an online flight with VATSIM and using my fs2crew to help, which it would most certainly do when should it be working as I am sure it is capable. May I ask you, which drills would I expect to be carried out silently and which can I expect to be carried out on a challenge and response basis. At the moment my understanding is that a "flow" is carried out silently and a "Check" is just that ie is just a confirmation that all important actions have not been missed. The "Checks" as written on the printed checklist I would assume are all done on a challenge and reponse with both pilots actively participating. Have I got this right? Thanks for your help Bryan,Brian
  6. Hi Bryan,I too have been having one or two problems, the main one being that my co-pilot quite frequently appears to withdraw his labour and refuses to answer my requests for some form of action from him! The latest example being a refusal to respond to my "Before Start Check". He appeared to have completed his before start flow, as evidenced by the beacon being "on" and the Avionics masters being "off", but I did not receive his call for the first item in the Before Start Checklist as the manual states he should. Since then silence! I find this problem frustrating to say the least. My words appear to be being read correctly by the speech engine in the green bar..I should add that I am using a high quality usb headset and have done a fair amount of speech recognition "training" with no trouble. Backgound noise is minimal, limited to the cooling fans of my pc. No engine noises as I have, in this example, not yet started them! I am running a fast processor on English version Windows 7, 64bit. I must admit to not having tried talking with an American accent, 76+ years of communicating in English english makes this a near impossibility. Finally I would like to be clear that this problem is quite random in nature and does not always occur at the same stage, but does seem worse before departure.Any suggestions would be appreciated,Brian.
  7. Hi Bryan,Thank you very much, super support as always. I knew it would be something simple.Regards,Brian(Cheltenham UK)
  8. Hi Bryan,I recently saved a situation file for the LVD767 to enable me to start fs2crew at the "ready to push and start" point.Upon trying my saved situation and following the manual instructions carefully, I have found that all works perfectly until it is time to enter the runway, when all fs2crew contact is lost. After successfully "seating the cabin" no amount of Main or Sec button pushes brings fs2crew back. What have I missed Bryan.Brian(Cheltenham UK.)
  9. Hi,I too am having the problem of unexplained instantaneous shut down of fs9. In my case I cannot then restart fs9 following one of these events unless I reboot my pc. Is this a common finding of others who have reported sudden CTD`sLike others, this problem has only recently started to appear, I have been flight simming since fs95 and have never been cursed with this highly annoying problem. What has changed to cause it? I am blowed if I know!Brian.
  10. Hi Jim,Thank you very much for your reply. In answer to your questions:-I have used activesky in all it`s forms on this network in the past years with no apparent problems, I also use other applications such as FScommander with no problem. I had discounted the network as a likely cause based on this fact.AS does recognise the current location of fs9 before the the restart, I do not find that I need to direct AS to the fs path.Yes I do allow sufficient time for the update, as I said I am conversant with the operation of AS and am aware of the normal cycle of events during a weather update. This behaviour seems to be associated with the upgrade to build 533 although I admit that could be a coincidence.I am sorry that the symptoms are rather vague. I am using AS on my flights but it is proving a bit of a pain to get up and running when I have to restart AS every time.Hope this information helpsBrian
  11. Hi,Recently I have been having a problem with ASv6.5 since, I am fairly sure, upgrading to build 533.After initiating AS (in online mode) I submit the relevent textures to FS9 via GEPro, then I start FS9. When the fs is up and running, I observe that the weather, as displayed by AS, at the same location, has not been "read" by fs. In order to correct the situation I have to restart AS and then all is well and fs sim then displays the correct weather and continues to do so as AS updates periodically. I have tried a "refresh" but this does not effect a cure, the only apparent way to get FS to display the correct weather at startup is to restart AS. This is inconvenient to say the least and is not the behaviour that I have experienced in my long term use of AS. (and Weather RE et al!) I should mention that I operate AS on a client pc via widefs and have done for some time so I have no reason to believe that the network is a factor regarding my problem. Regards,Brian(Cheltenham UK)
  12. Thanks for the advice Dom.I shall give it a try, looks as if it just what I need. All the best.Brian.
  13. Hi Graham,First of all thank you for all the work you and your supporters have put in to produce the British voice set.I have noticed that when going to the pa system to make a cabin announcement, my notification to my FO incorrectly says that I am going to call "company operations". Has that been picked up by others or might the error be peculiar to my installation. The default voice set appears correct. If it is of any help I too am experiencing the push-back anomilies when pushing back to turn to the right.Hope these points are helpful to you.Brian
  14. Bryan,Thank you for your reply.I shall have a go through the fs9 menu and see what I can do. The other option I think would stretch my computer skills a bridge too far! Thanks again for your splendid support service.Brian.
  15. Hi Bryan,Could you please explain if it is possible to vary the balance between the volume levels of fs2crew`s voices and that of the fs9 noises.I find that the fs2crew voices are too loud on my system and when I turn the pc volume control down to achieve a more comfortable level, the aircraft noises (engines etc.) are too low.Thanks,Brian.
  16. Hi Tord and Bryan,Thanks for the prompt replies. I will download and install the public version.Sorry to have missed the "shut off" point in the manual, I thought that I had read it pretty well. Just goes to show! Put it down to old age! Thanks for your help and one super programme. All the best,Brian(Cheltenham UK)
  17. Hi Bryan,During a flight last night, I was entertained to a display of st elmos fire as I commenced my descent (from FL390). Weather conditions were perfect for flying (CAVOK with cloudless conditions)The display started as I selected the TOD cabin address and was then continuous until I eventually shut fs9 down after completing the flight. I am sure that is not right and am raising the point just incase you may have had similar reports from others. Is tbere any way of shutting the effect off in flight. Complicates vision during the landing!Brian(Cheltenham UK)

    Autobrakes

Hi Jack,Your problem is very mysterious. Are you using CH equipment, if so are you using CH control manager?I am sure that the autobrakes function with the supplied fsuipc but I would doubt that version would be 3.4, I thought that the unregistered versions were 2.something.I however run v3.44 (registered) with no problem. I do not see your Autobrake issue as being other than a brake control setting issue. Presumably you hav`nt been editing anything in the PMDG department ie.air files and the like?I was surprised how my problem was fixed so easily, I am sure that yours is as simple. It`s just a matter of finding where to look.Brian.

    Autobrakes

Hi,I had used the FSUIPC "Joystics" page to set the dead zone for my brakes. My fsuipc is a registered prog. not the freebe. If you don`t have a registered copy then I do not believe that you have the facility to programme your joysticks.I have the 2004 sensitivity of the throttle now set to max. together with about 8-10% dead zone.Hope this helps, if still not understood let me know.Brian.

    Autobrakes

Hi all,I have solved my problem I am glad to say. My brakes were processed through FSUIPC v 3.44. When I cancelled that and used the fs(2004) sensitivies to give me the null area I require, bingo, welcome back autobrakes. Simple but effective. Thanks to those who tried to help and a very happy Christmas to you all.Brian

    Autobrakes

Thanks for your reply Randy. I have in fact programmed a button, via the PMDG keyboard command menu, (and FSUIPC) into my CH throttle to cancel the TOGA on Take off. This works well. The trouble is that the autobrakes fail to work altogether, both on TO and landing. Autobrakes used to work well and then suddenly ceased to work. This was not connected to any modifications that I have made to the aircraft, indeed my PMDG737 is a standard installation with the one exception, that being a pushback facility, installed at a very early stage. Long before the autobrakes ceased to work.Any ideas would be welcomed.Brian.

    Autobrakes

Just an addition to my recent post. I am using the latest registered FSUIPC v 3.44.Happy Christmas,Brian.

    Autobrakes

I too am suffering from a refusal of the autobrakes to function. They used to work very well in both the rejected takeoff and landing modes, in fact I used to practice rejected TO`s regularly, then for no apparent reason the situation became as it is now. I fly the PMDG737-800 series exclusively. Default 737 autobrakes function properly.Puzzled of Cheltenham,Brian.
  24. I have had several instances recently of freezing while the zoom panel is displayed. FS9 does not freeze but just the aircraft panel. Upon selection of the Main panel all is working properly again.I am running SU3.Has anyone had similar experience, if so is there any explanation?Brian Corley,Cheltenham, England.
