  1. In the FSX scenery it must somehow be possible to show locations by textlabels which are defined by latitude and longitude. It can for instance be small villages that you want to locate in the scenery when you pass them. There seems to be two problems to solve here...1) Pass the data (textlabel as a string, latitude, longitude) to FSX. - I Imagine that this can be done via SimConnect ?- I imagine a menu in FSX from which I can select a textfile with the locations I want to be shown ?2)Is there some kind of file from which FSX will be able to show textlabels in the scenery?- Is the file going to have a special extension?- Is the file going to be placed in a special folder? - Shall some kind of "flag" inside FSX be true in order to make FSX "look" for this file with the textlabel, latitude and longitude?I'm very curios about this little programming "duty", so I will appreciate so much to get a response on these problems.Best RegardsLars - DK
  2. I wonder if it is possible to connect a datafile to FSX via SimConnect??The datafile contains lines with a textstring (name of location) and Latitude and Longitude for that location. These data should be handled over to FSX where the text-label are going to be written at the proper place (defined bu latitude and longitude) so the users can see the name of the relevant locations as they fly by the location in FSX. A program like FSDiscover can write the textlabels like that. Best RegardsLars
  3. The data containing geographical locations is not an issue. I hav enot explored much in this but just by googling a few minutes I found a program called GeoMaker (freeware) which extracts the needed data from a central database. You can retrieve files as you like them presented and with a minimum of programming skills you will be able to parse through the file and "clean it up".For me the real problem is how I get these labels displayed in the sim given that I have the names (textlabel) and their latitudes and longitudes. But Luis gave me a hint with the Simconnect beeing a possible solution. So I have now downloaded and installed the FSX SDK's. I notice thar the help section dealing with SimConnect is about 200 pages. This will give me a little work in the future. But nevermind. My whole interest in this matter is only of pure curiosity. The program that handle this is allready made: FSDiscover. And its a fine program.
  4. Thank you both,I know now that Scenery Tech shows every village larger than 1 square kilometer in the landclass. I've downloaded it and so far I'm very satisfied.
  5. Thanks Luis,Its my impression that in the FSDiscover program you just check or uncheck a file in a folder to activate or deactivate the files' content of lines with location-name, Latitude and Longitude. Somehow the programmer has managed to make the labels of the activated files visible in the scenery. When I say labels I just mean a short name placed in the scenry defined by Latitude and Longitude. It has nothing to do with object as far as I can see. I dont think any BGL files (or something like these) has been processed. The FSDiscoverprogram is a module in FSX.Does this description gives you a hint?Greetings from Lars - DK
  6. Hello all good VFR-FS people,I need a landclass add-on that will give me a good visual impression of the villages, towns, Cities in Greece and the greek islands when I fly low (VFR) over the scenery. Which of the following add-ons can fulfil this wish?* Scenery Tech's "Europe Landclass" (16MB)* Ruud Faber's "FScene4X Europe" (102MB - 4 seasons)* Burkhard Renk's "MYWORLD LANDCLASS X" (36 MB - covers the whole world)Best RegardsLarsPS: If more then one will do the job which one do you prefere then?
  7. I guess it's too difficult a question to ask you hardcore scenery developers in this forum to give me just a little hint about in which direction in the jungle of scenery development I should go to obtain a label in a scenery........
  8. I'm doing a little programming in Delphi and would like to make a little program that makes it possible to show labels in the 3D landscape - something like EZ-landscape or FSDiscover, but off course not so sofisticated. Can anybody help me with a link or a recomandation of som SDK file to read in order to get started?Best RegardsLars
  9. I've been looking at the Pilatus PC-12 Checklist in the Flight1 manual and in relation to this I have some questions. I write down the item from the checklist and add my question afterwards. I guess that in the aircraft not everything is simulated. I hope somebody out there can give me som feed-back on these items. Thank you... 10. Thnak's guys,What about the freeware mesh terrain files by Raimondo Taburet?
  11. Hi folks,I have the Ultimate Terrain X USA and the Ground Environment X USA Canada. Can you give me any advise about the right mesh add-on for these Sceneries? The same question for Europe where I have Ultimate Terrain X Europe, are waiting for Ground Environment X Europe and dont know what kind of mesh scenery I should choose?Any suggestions?Best RegardsLars
  12. >The other possibility that might cause the problem you>describe is power saving modes in Windows; if you allow the>computer to "sleep" or "hibernate", some special purpose>drivers do not successfully wake up when you attempt to power>back up and resume normal operations.>>I would recommend turning off all power saving and either>leave the computer running around the clock with no more than>a screen saver in between turning your monitor on and off, or>fully exit windows before turning off the computer and monitor>power when you have no intention of using it again within 2 to>4 hours to save energy.Thank you Gary,The above "hibernation-thing was the problem. I have asked CH Controls if there is a solution to this (I'll be able to live with this minor porblem though...)BRLars

  16. I have AS ver6.5 - Can I use this version in FSX? Is there a special upgrade price from AS 6.5 to ASX ?Best RegardsLars
  17. Is something wrong with the Airac navdate (0608)? I mean - if a runway 11 on SBBR airport is not recockised, where should I look for the problem?BRLars
  18. Thanks for your answers. Right now I'm trying to learn how to fly the PMDG 737NG, and its a challenge by itself. I've juste ordered Mike Rays book about the Boeing 700's. So maybe there is hope...;-)Regarding the 747-400 I think i'll wait until I have the new FSX.Best RegardsLars
  19. Hi,I'm trying to run through a tutorial by Bernardo Srulzon from fsstation.com with a flightplan from SBBR to SBGL. http://www.fsstation.com/tutorials/boeing-pmdg-737ng.htmlI have downloaded and installed the newest AIRAC 0608 and the new SID/STAR cycle 0608 correctly. When I try to place runway 11 in my FMC I get the FMC-message "not in database". I've been reading on NAVDATA.COM that there have been some problems with rwy-misalignments in the 0608, but these problems have been solved two days ago.Am I doing something wrong?Best RegardsLars - DK
  20. Hi,A few questions about the PMDG aircrafts - hope to get some answers:(1)I have 737NG and find the aircraft fantastic! The 747-400 should be even more spectacular. Have the PMDG group used some other programming techniques to create the "Queen of the Skies"?(2)I consider to buy the 747-400 but the FSX is "just around the corner". Should I wait or will the 747 function in FSX?(3)What about my old 737NG - will it function in FSX?Best RegardsLars - DKBest RegardsLars
  21. Yes, you are right "limonadedrinker". In the default Garmin GPS500 I can see the cummulated distance to my arrival airport in the waypointlist. I was not aware of this, thank you for your help!BRLars
  22. When i descend in the default 737-400 it would be nice to be able to see the remaining distance somewhere so I - every now and then - could monitor if the decend-rate is OK. Anybody knows how this could be done? As far as I understand the defauly GPS Garmin 500 is not able to show me distance remaing.Best RegardsLars
  23. Hi Earl, I will have a look on your suggested links.ThanksLars:-)
