  9. Hi Good People, As many may have noticed David has released a great de Havilland Dh83 recently. With David's consent the Ford Tri Motor Project is in the process of adding this girl to the project. I have done some experiments with the texture mappings and pumped out a few test textures to get the overall gist of the model and the mappings: Even did a test livery for the Ford Project's India Scenery Project And to add some extra fun I have created a batch of alternative wheels for this aircraft that users will be able to add to any of the aircraft - a User Choice sort of thing........ Just a heads up at the moment - Edward and I are yet to draft up and finalise the overall number of liveries for this aircraft. More about this later. We are planning to get stuck into this aircraft liveries project early in the new year. Anyway - just a teaser for you on just one of the Ford Projects we are planning for the future. Regards Your Ford Project Team. Edward C. Moore Garry J. Smith
  10. November 2014 already - we at the Ford Tri-Motor Project site are now into our 4th year of providing a plethora of "Low and Slow" historical renditions of aircraft, liveries and scenery via the http://www.ford-tri-motor.net web site. All downloads are FREE from the Ford Project Site - yes, that's right, everything has been FREE to the simming community since the inception of the Project. No hidden cost, no membership fees, no restricted access or speed - everything on the site gifted to simmers all over the world. The Ford Tri-Motor Project was conceived by Edward Moore way back in February 2011 when he wanted just a few Ford Tri-Motor repaints created that he could then shared with the simming community - By November 2011 a web site was started off with a batch of Default Microsoft Ford Tri-Motor Special Repaints on a couple of pages - that grew into a total of well over 350 Ford repaints. Now the site contains 35 pages of downloads with a plethora of aircraft, liveries and some incredible historical scenery - more than 2,000 files are now available from this one site and that number is still growing. Aircraft that we now have liveries for are: Ford Tri-Motor, Vickers Vimy, Douglas DC3, Curtiss Jenny, de Havilland DH80A (wheels and floats) de Havilland 88, de Havilland 91, MAC Flamingo, Lockheed Vega 5, Fleet Freighter 50K (Tundra Wheels, Ski's and Floats), and several other small batches for era specific aircraft such as Junker F13, Messerschmitt ME108, Boeing Clipper and Boeing 221A. Many award winning aircraft and textures are now exclusively available via the Ford Project Site. We now track, by counters, about 20% of the overall downloads - and tracking of some only started about 2 years ago and most counters only active from the beginning of this year and some trackers only recently created - and some yet to be implemented for new releases coming soon. Those trackers provide a feedback of over 261 thousand downloads as of 11 Nov 14 - yep over a quarter of a million tracked downloads. You do the numbers, 20% tracked over various time frames far less than the sites current existence - got to be a big number :-) I think we have achieved well over a million total downloads over the last 3 year - nearly three hundred thousand new visitors, since we started tracking those as well, and uncounted return visitors who have benefited and enjoyed this vast volume of FREE downloads. We added about 50 Flight Sim related Jigsaw Puzzles just over a year ago - which has now grown to over 400 puzzles - just for a fun diversion from the serious work of Flight Simming and they are rushing towards 100,000 downloads before this Christmas (2014) - 70 thousand by Aug/Sep this year and now over 90 thousand at the beginning of November 2014. The most interesting thing is that the Ford Project Site and the majority of the contents has all been generated by just 2 people. Edward C. Moore, the driving force on the content and the overall financing of the entire project, and myself (Garry J. Smith) producing most of the content, web site and artwork. Sorry if I have bored you with this burst of Ford Project information, but I thought 3 great years of service to the community by the Ford Project Team (of 2) is a worthy milestone for the Ford Project and it is still growing in quality and quantity as it enters into its fourth year of servicing the Flight Sim Community with FREE product. We hope that many are enjoying our humble endeavours to "Keep History Alive" for flight simming buffs all over the world. For those who want to check out what is available at the Ford Tri-Motor Project Site surf to: http://www.ford-tri-motor.net Spend some time just browsing about - check out the many slideshows which give a detailed view of the bucket of projects we have developed so far. Aircraft, Liveries, Scenery - the list goes on and on :-) I almost guarantee that you will not leave the site empty handed - something of interest for just about everyone - even if you just grab a Jigsaw Puzzle (now 5 pages of them) to see what they are like to do, and I am sure you will come back for more. Regards Edward C. Moore and Garry J. Smith Your Ford Project Team.

  12. Hi again Gwillmot, Good retort and valid comments in some areas - at least not a flippant response. Yes I get some money from Edward for the repaints and the scenery development - he pays me all of $15Aust per hour for that development on the tasks that he sets me for the Ford Project. I contribute about 20% of all liveries for FREE and even greater percentages for the Scenery developement for FREE. On top of that I provided 100% of the web work, artwork and management for FREE. Edward is the overall project manager and has control on what we publish via or on behalf of the Ford Site as it is his project. I contribute time, 16 years of experience, and a great deal of hard earned skills across a range of FS artwork skills - not only repainting but also in scenery creation and 3D model creation and artwork for such scenery. In a nutshell we basically share the load of the overall project and Edward pays me a small fee for about 50% of the work done. With the size of the projects growth over the last 3 years this has been a substantial contribution by Edward and gifted for FREE to the simming community, But I too have contributed a substantial portion of the Project for FREE. Edward's financial support has been fundamental to ensure that I continue to provide not only the Ford Project stuff - but to keep gjsmith.net - Mike Stone's, Warwick Carter's, and Milton Shupe's and others historical creations alive and functioning for many years - also all FREE to the community. So don't say I am "in this for the money" - never have been and never will be - but I do occassionally charge people for "personal requests" every now and again when it is something that they want for their own use or to be distrubuted as funded by them. "Inconsistencies" - yes - the Ford Project is specifically focussed on the era up to the late 1930's - yes - I did do some DC3's outside of that era - the first was just a fun tinker that I shared with Edward first and he wanted me to "share" it under the Ford Project Banner, his call - then he recommended a couple more "just for fun" liveries to be developed outside the era and chose to share those as well for FREE to the community. Therefore, guilty as charged on that count. But that is part of the overall fun of simming - sometimes you slip outside of the box and give away something different. Anyway - enough - just enjoy the stuff we pump out - some good, some bad and some in the middle, simply there for simmers to use or ignore - depending on their tastes. Regards
  13. Thanks Richard - glad you like it. For Gwillmot, thanks for your flippant reply - guess you do not have the inclination to follow through to actually pay for the creation of something you persist in asking for and no doubt expect for FREE. So ingnoble of you to not want to fund and share a livery that you so adamantly push to be created. :(
  14. Hi Mate, - I see that your still on you D-Day band wagon  Your welcome to commission the development of a D-Day repaint and then we would share it with the simming community. Something a lot of people do not quiet get the gist of is that Edward commissions me to create the majority of the repaints and scenery that are on the Ford Site - has done so for many years - and then graciously shares those results FREELY with the community. Therefore Edward is the controlling factor on what is done and not done for the Ford Project. I do all of the web work, forum work and site work for FREE and throw in the occassional FREE texture and scenery. Overall I spend anywhere from 20 to 60 hours a week on the Ford Project. So please bear in mind when your next pushing your ideas about what we should do next that it will cost us in time, effort and money. Though it is a FREE to simmers project all of it is costing Edward money for that time and effort. That makes it Edward's Choice on what gets done. So, again, if you want a D-Day livery - commission one - and we will share it with the simming community for FREE for the Ford Project Site. Regards
  15. Hi Good People, Edward and I have added 3 new DH88 Liveries to our batch over at the Ford Tri-Motor Project site. A tinker I have done to create a golden/polished metal Bush Flying Unlimited, a Richfield Oil Company livery and a Hunter River Patrol slightly military style repaint. You will notice that I had a bit of fun with the Hunter River Patrol and added gun ports - 3x20mm gun ports on each side. Just a fun thing. However, Edward liked them and suggested that we should update a couple of the existing military style liveries with the gun ports. The end result is 5 texture upgrades. You will find the three new liveries and the 5 texture upgrades on the de Havilland 88 page Direct link: http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/de-havilland-88.htm While your there don't forget to have a look around at the thousands of other FREE files available for your enjoyment. Also check out the fun Jigsaw Puzzles - must be something there of interest, over 88 thousand of them have been downloaded and enjoyed already. Addictive, get one and complete it and you will no doubt get some more........ Regards. Your Ford Project Team...
  16. Your Welcome mate. Tons of ideas still in the pot for a lot of the aircraft we already have done and even some others under consideration. Regards
  17. Hi Good People, Edward and I had a little digression today - Edward came across a great looking theme which we both thought would be something interesting to do and share with the simming community. The U.S. Navy Douglas R4DS - Ready 4 Duty - with a bit of nose art for this girl..... - yep another one outside the Ford Project Era range - but an interesting one to do and share The livery is now available on at http://www.ford-tri-motor.net - click on the Other Aircraft button and navigate to the DC3 Stuff. Enjoy

  19. Hi Good People, Just a quick heads up on some FREE liveries for the Microsoft Default Vicker Vimy aircraft. Yes, a very slow and low aircraft which does not give much excitement for us simmers - however, this is an aircraft that was instrumental in the expansion of aviation and she made some historical contributions to worldwide aviation. The Ford Project team has created a batch of liveries representing a range of international use for this girl - just 13 FREEBIES for this run - but some pretty good eye candy while your flying low and slow...... Some are revamps and some are creative renditions of liveries that were or could have been used for fledgling organisations of the era. Where do you get them: http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/other_aircraft.htm Regards and happy simming. From your Ford Tri-Motor Project Team.

  21. Hi Mate, Thanks - glad you like the Set+1 :-) - the Air India and the Air America versions are some of my best (so far) tinkers with the alpha shine and metal effect for this girl. All of the stuff available on the Ford Tri-Motor Site is downloadable anywhere in the world - but as you say - no use downloading them if you don't have FS installed on your laptop :-) Regards mate.
  22. Hi Good People, Edward and I have finally drawn a line on the Default Microsoft DC3 texture developments for the Ford Tri-Motor Project. Started off with just 10 to be done and ended up with 26 comprehensive, unique and I hope visually enjoyable liveries for your simulation enjoyment. These textures will work with both the FS2004 and the FSX versions. There are 17 liveries available - originally planned as the total :-) - but then we got carried away and added another 9 as a BONUS pack of liveries. In the Bonus Pack area are some SPECIAL liveries - created as a tribute to the sites THAT have tolerated our forum posts graciously over the years. They include (in no specific order) SIM-OUTHOUSE.COM - FLIGHTSIM.COM - AVSIM.COM - SIMVIATION.COM Plus a tribute to PCPilot and Microsoft - just for visual enjoyment. And to round it off - two DC3 repaint tinkers for the late 1940's - (outside the Ford Project era) but we think worthy of sharing with the community. And there is a nice LOUD fictional United States Airways livery also available as a tribute to the country of origin for the DC3 - you can check her out on the web page. Where do you get all of these great FREE liveries - why of course at the Ford Tri-Motor Project site http://www.ford-tri-motor.net Click on the Other Aircraft Button and scroll down to the DC3 Link Enjoy Regards Edward C.
