Hi gb, Sorry, my error. Actual Samsung model is u28d590d monitor. Current resolution in FSX is 2560x1440x32 - there are no 16s available. Checking again today and noticed that when landing lights on in my aircraft and other taxying aircraft the runway "colour" appeared to be normal. Whether or not that is relevant I have no idea. The only common denominator in all my testing was the PC and FSX. Colf

Hi gb, It looks the same not matter what resolution. I have tried different cards, monitors, completely new reinstall, every setting I can think of but the result remains the same. Photos and films are fine so it must be something within FSX I would think. Colf

Hi, Current Rig is: Samsung 4K 29" Monitor, Zotac GTX980 Video Card, Intel i7-4770K @ 3.50Hz, 16.00GB RAM, MS Windows 8.1, FSX with Acceleration Pack, Current Resolution is 25630 x 1440 59Hz. Recently installed the GTX980 and initially everything was fine. After a few days I noticed that night textures and gone downhill; terrain was beginning to look a bit like blotting paper soaking up and generating patches of mainly purple and green. Clouds had a purple tinge to them. Daytime appears fine. I connected monitor to card using Display Port but am now using HDMI but it doesn't make any difference. I have tried every setting I can think of on the monitor and card including default to no avail. I even tried a virgin installation of FSX but still got the same problem. I recently did a flight over Manhattan X and noticed that the shadows or dark areas in between some skyscrapers appeared darker than usual and with a purple tinge - this was a daytime flight. In all other respects the detail was incredible with FPS around 30. I would appreciate any help/advise. Many Tks Colf

Hi, Went with Samsung 4K 28" Monitor. Installed yesterday and still very much in the learning process but very pleased. Can fly with 3840 x 2160 and detail is incredible. Text very, very small thought but still learning. Manhattan X was incredible before but now it is really special. Managed to do a quick flight from Newark to JFK without OOM but suspect it was pretty close to it but then all my settings are Max'd. Use the VAS monitor but can have that running at the side of FSX because of the Widescreen which means I can easily change setting in flight should the need arise. Colfmedion

Hi, Have been searching all over for answer but all I get is Confusion. My question is: What will be the result of pairing a Zotac GeForce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 with a 28inch 4k monitor. Other specs are i7 4770k at 3.9ghz, 2 x 8gb Kingston Hyperbeast Ram, OS and FSX run on separate SSDs. Generally run all settings at max and get FPS from 25 to well over 100, depending on scenery, height, etc. Looking for a bigger screen monitor, currently on 25", but want to go 4k if possible or at least 2560 x 1440 resolution. Grateful for any advice Colfmedion

Hi, Have just done 3 test flights from Philadelphia to KJFK using same aircraft, etc. 1st flight had Autogen Off and Manhattan X Off. All other airports for New York were on as normal. VAS started at 2192584 and ended at 895776 and no OOM. All scenery behaved as expected with airports showing full details. 2nd flight was with Manhattan X on and Autogen Off. VAS started at 2289336 and ended at 304004 and no OOM. Again, scenery was as expected with Manhattan X in all its glory. 3rd flight was with Manhattan X on and Autogen Normal. VAS started at 2240464 and ended at 116800 with OOM but no Crash. I then set Autogen to Sparse and VAS went to 439292 with no OOM. All flights ended at Gate. So, exactly as you said, Autogen is the killer but at least I have found my level and around New York there is enough detail generated by the airports so lack of a few "trees" is not too upsetting!!. Elsewhere I have full Autogen and Full everything else with no problems. Many thanks for help. Colf

Hi, Thanks for response. Have just printed off your response and the link you referred to. I will study them. To be honest I think the problem lies in my expectations. I have a high end system but this apparently counts for nothing in FSX. I know my problems lies in the "paid for" add ons I have for the New York area - Manhattan X, New York City Airports for FSDream Teams KJFK V2. All are excellent but their requirements seem to be just too much for FSX unless I tone down my settings. But what is the point of expensive equipment and excellent add ons if everything has to be toned down. Just saying. Colf

Hi, System Basics: Win 8.1. FSX Gold. Intel 4990K at 3900Mhz. 2 X 8GB Kingston Hyperx Beast DDR3 AT 2330Mhz. MOBO is Maximu VI Hero. This rig is 4 months old. OS ON SSD. FSX on its own SSD. Lots of spare capacity on both SSDs. Have Drzewiecki Design New York City Airports installed. Previously had FSDream Team KJFK V2. Aerosoft Manhattan X. Up to about 2 months ago I was able to use all sceneries with no problems whatsoever. Then out of the blue I started to get OOM when using any of the New York Airports. Since then I have tried everything that I can think of to cure this. Tried every variation of Paging File. Settings have been changed many times. Tried Direct X 10 Preview. Tired with just one of the New York City Airports installed. Max Memory used, according to Resource Monitor was 38% but still get OOM. I say again that I have changed nothing but one thing, in the past 2 months prior to which I did not get OOM. The one thing that has changed is the MOBO. PC had to go back to manufacturer because of a fault which was determined to be MOBO. A new MOBO was installed. Grateful for any advice/help. Colf

Brain is getting a bit befuddled but over the past 2 weeks I am convinced I have tried a completely fresh installation of Win 8 and FSX with same results. I was about to pull FSX and equipment and wait for a while and then try again but I will try again a new installation of Win 8 and et al. Watch this space. Tks Colf

Have tried both options to the FULL and sad to say, neither work. I have been careful in the extreme when uninstalling, installing, loading and reloading. I have installed on different discs (after formatting and checking discs|ssd). I seem to end up at the same point. Everything looks good and aircraft on runway ready to go but the moment I hit any of the menu lists I get a fatal error. Also, now FSX will not hold any of my settings, i.e. default flight, throttle settings, etc. I am at a total loss with this.

Tks for responses. Will try reinstall to Win 8 first and if that doesn't work I'll try Win 7

Have spent last 2 weeks trying to reinstall FSX which had been working perfectly well for several years apart from usual minor hiccups. Everytime I try to install FS Acceleration Expansion Pack I get the message "could not open Key" and installation rolls back and terminates. I have tried reinstalling a drive image of FSX which includes the Acceleration pack and which worked up to 2 weeks ago but then I get "fatal error". I have tried completely wiping FSX from PC and reinstalling from scratch but with same result. I have tried a completely fresh installation of Windows 8 but still get same result. As far as I can tell all equipment works okay and I have done virus and malware scans and disk scans to the nth degree with no adverse results. I have tried new installations of FSX on different discs and also different partitions with same result. I am now at a total loss and would appreciate any help and advise. Tks. Got everything sorted. Must be my age!! Went into Properties of the FSX shortcut and found the box to run as Administrator all the time. Ticked that and everything back to normal for me. Many thanks for help. Colin

Have continued to chip away at this and now here's the thing. I built my PC and have 2 SSDs and 1 HD which is partitioned. 1 SSD contains the OS which until last week was Windows 7. I then decided to upgrade to Windows 8 (which I quite like at this moment in time!!!) and this was done via a download from MS keeping all my settings etc. This went okay. The other SSD contains FSX and all FSX Add Ons. This was not touched during the upgrade and at the beginning it was fine. The HD contains all other programs, media files, etc. I have had this set up for a long time and it has worked well. I first started to get a problem which as far as I can tell was caused by FSDreamTeam and Virtuali. I eventually tracked this down to Virtuali being "untrusted" as a publisher. How it got to be like that I do not know. Anyway, I changed that and everything was fine until this Scenery Library problem arose. I have shortcuts to my main programs on the taskbar via pop up menus including FSX. Again this has worked well. After your very welcome responses I had one of those moments and decided to look in the main FSX program and at the FSX.exe. I right clicked the exe and lo and behold there was "Run as an Administrator". When I clicked on that FSX ran and I was able to access the Scenery Library as normal. So I then placed a copy of the exe on my Desk Top as a shortcut and was able to run FSX fully by running as an Administrator. However, if I then put that shortcut on my task bar the facility to run as an Administrator disappears. So my question now is, how can I get back to running FSX via a shortcut on my Desk Top or task bar without having to right click and run as an Administrator, which I am totally for this PC to which no one else has access. I do admit to being totally confused by all the permissions and accesses. Regards Colin

As far as I know I am. I am the only user and owner. I right click FSX.exe but there is not facility that says "run as an administrator".

Hi, I have searched the library to no avail so here is my problem. When trying to get into the Scenery Library I get the message "You must have permission to modify the Scenery Library. All Scenery Library Controls have been disabled." OS is Windows 8 64 bit. I have been having some trouble with FSX but thought I had sorted it until I got this message. Could this be anything to do with FSDREAM Team and Virtuali? Grateful any advice. Colin

Hi,Activating DX10 Preview has cured the problem for me. Have lost several aircraft which were FS9 aircraft but no big deal. Have been flying for the last couple of days and doing lots of changing aircraft and locations and not problems.FSX is installed on a SSD.Thanks for all assistance.Colf

Hi,Loaded UIAutomationCore.dll as per your instructions but it does not appear to have made any difference.Also, I definitely do not have "DisablePreload=1" in my fsx.cfg [Main] section or anywhere else in the cfg. Will this affect anything?However, I thought I would try something else; the Direct X 10 Preview. I have tried this before, ages ago and it seemed to cause a lot of problems. Anyhow, I ticked the box and lo and behold, it seems to have cured most of the problems. I am now able to switch aircraft and locations with no problems whatsoever, touched wood. However, it does appear to have generated one particular problem. I have a B757 Continental Airlines which I use more than any other aircraft. I loaded it and flew it for a while before I switched to another aircraft. That went fine and then I switched back to the 757 and what I got was an aircraft with no textures whatsoever. I have rebooted FSX and reinstalled the aircraft and so far it has made no difference. Very strange. Perhaps after a nights rest it will appear as normal tomorrow!!Colf

Hi,Thanks for responses.Went through Jim's list and not find anything untoward. Tried default settings for Display and this appeared to cure problem but I couldn't live with the terrible quality. I have tried various settings and sometimes everything is fine and sometimes it is not. Sometimes if I change an aircraft and/or location and I am viewing FSX on a smaller screen, the display just flashes away but the desktop is perfectly stable. I will keep trying various settings.Cannot find Preload=0 in my fsx.cfg.And what is UIAuomationCore.dll and how do I change it?I have all the MS Visuals from 2005 to 2010 and all are up to date.Colf

Hi,Here's the thing:For many months now, whenever I fly and at the end of the flight I then want to change the aircraft or location the aircraft splash screen goes black and clicking on fly now results in a full black screen. It is as if it is struggling to load but no matter how long I wait nothing happens. I try using Escape and Task Manager to get me to a point where I can continue using FSX but I always end up having to totally restart FSX. Over the months I have done complete new installs of FSX and tried it on a different HD but all with the same result. I have totally rebuilt the PC during this time with no change.System specs are:Windows 7 64 BIT installed on its own SSDIE912287mb RAMCPU i7 950 at 3.07 ghzATI Radeon HD 5800Kingston SSD exclusively for FSXMobo is Gigabyte X58A-UD3RAlso installed with FSX is the Acceleration pack and Traffix X. During many of my reinstallations I have run FSX without any Add Ons but the result is still the same.As far as I can tell from various testing utilities and benchmarking, there is no indication of anyting untoward with any of the Hardware.Would appreciate any advice to try and resolve this.Many ThanksColf
