If I remember correctly - and I'm trying to go back a year or so, and I'm OLD, so..................The update file I downloaded had to be executed from the FS9 folder. I think I tried executing from the desktop and got that error. Please don't hold me to this.Hope it helps.Lou

Today is my birthday - I've received most of my cards from the forums I visit - even here. Thanks to you all. :( Well, I got this greeting from Tom (of Avsim), replied, and thought I'd check the file library, just for the heck of it - it had been on May something for a long time.Low and behold - THE LIBRARY IS BACK - it's all working and updated. Such a wonderful gift!! Thanks to the entire Avsim staff for this. :( :( B) We've all lost a lot this past year or so - it's great to have something of value returned.Cheers,Lou

I don't know the answer to your issue, but it's the same for me and I'll be looking to see if there is a control for this. In the meanwhile, lowering your visibility to about 40 or 30km can help make it not so noticable. I just let my eyes get fooled a bit, but then I only have a modest video card and system.

For some free outstanding photo scenery - go to http://aussiex.org and check out their download section for the Grand Canyon photoscenery with great mesh included.

Anyone want to test some new scenery for FSX?
frostlp replied to lsteere's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Looks really nice, Larry. Thanks for letting me test your scenery. Jim, I have most of your work, too - It's great to have my home state redesigned to be more realistic. Thanks to you both.Lou -
Why can't the reflective textures of an aircraft be used to make reflective glass - like in a window? Or possibly water surface. Or other shiny things. I know nothing about aircraft design, so if this is a dumb question......sorry.FSSpokane@comcast.net

I think that they have a patch now for the elevation problem - also addresses the scale issue.

Hi Dave-It was water effects at the Long Lake Dam in WA state (my file was SRUT.zip at AVSIM) I created it by modifying a default effect. I have three effects together at a each spill-over chute at the dam. Actually there are 2 chutes there. The "bubbly" effect of where it hits bottom is what is floating. I've attached a screenshot to show you what I mean - this time the "bubblys" are correct, but most of the time float above the dam. I also attached a .flt file so you can find it easier once you get the scenery files. I would have attached them here, but it's a 2 meg file and I didn't want to overload this forum. Thanks for any help you can give me. The same problem appears at other locations in this same scenery, but I figure that once I find out what I'm doing wrong here, I can fix the rest. Thanks again for any help and for the reply.Lou in Spokane

Hi Holger-Yea, hovering is the problem. I thought that perhaps because I had the effects too close to each other or even overlapping each other was the problem, but I don't think now that that's it. If I closed and restarted FS all would be ok. If I changed from one flight to another saved flight, then the problem would show up sometimes. Especially at Long Lake. :-( Real bummer - I spent a lot of time on that one. I'm not familiar with attach points between GMAX items and effects. Can you point me to some data on that? Thanks for the response.CULou

I just recently released some scenery for Ultimate Terrain USA users.(SRUT.zip) After doing so, I found out that some of the effects didn't display correctly. My regrets to those of you that downloaded them. I don't know what makes some of them float. Does anyone have any ideas? In advance, thanks.FSSpokane@comcast.net
