  1. Worked... thanks, I keep forgetting that with Win7.
  2. Every livery I try to install crashes the livery installer. Can't figure out how to search on the forums so I can't say I've successfully looked for a fix. Any ideas? Thanks,Joel
  3. Thanks guys... the venetubo worked. Not sure what it tweaked but I'm no longer the 8th generation stealth airliner.
  4. I just purchased and installed NGX. Everything looks and works great from virtual cockpit... but if I go to an outside view the aircraft is invisible but leaves a shadow on the ground. Anything illuminated by lights is there (the tail and windows) but the rest of the aircraft is like Harvey the Giant Invisible Rabbit. Any ideas out there? Thanks,Joel
  5. Tried that, no success. Still no device listed in FS9. FSX and everyother application runs fine. Tried that too, no success. Still baffled, Microsoft Tech Support is equally baffled. I'll probably have to delete everything again... I get tired of this. Every time I change monitors or update drivers FS9 gets stupid on me.
  6. How do you get FS9 to "re-find" the graphics device? None are listed for selction in FS9 graphics options. This has happened before and I've always simply deleted it and reinstalled FS9. Is there a way to get FS9 to re-learn the available graphics devices?JoelIntel Core 2 Quad 2x GeForce 8800GT 1gb2x 1TB hard drives
  7. Thanks, I'll do that. I thought the C40 was the 737-800, I read that on a site yesterday. But that could have been wrong.
  8. I'm looking for a USAF C-40 repaint of the 737-800. Does anyone know of one? Thanks,
  9. I've been looking for a sim that does the B52 justice. So far haven't found one. Any suggestions/links?Thanks,Joel
  10. What? Actually read manuals and fly tutorials? I'm far too impatient for that. :) In all honesty, I did begin a tutorial but RC seemed so user friendly I stopped and just began flying.
  11. 118.80 worked like a charm. Shouldn't RC tell you what freqs in its little box when you're using FSS?
  12. Just looked at those pages... hey, it is in there. Thanks for the clarification. I now understand the difference between FL (use standard) and altitude in feet (use BP/QNH).
  13. Thank you for the additional information. Everything seems to work just fine for the larger airports. All worked fine when I left Cork and returned to Truro. I'll try to avoid the small airfields. Maybe this will help matters. I understand that you could not possibly include every permutation of comms in your great program. Thanks again,
  14. In the next version of RC may I suggest adding a confirmation if a pilot accidentally selects a number that will automatically close RC. For example, if you accidentally select Cancel Flight Plan while airborne, the controller cheerfully says OK! and closes RC. A simple, "please confirm" would alleviate accidental closing of RC. This applies to any selection that closes RC.
  15. Ok, I know I've seen this somewhere before. Can you explain the difference? Right now I've got this controller chattering away at me to watch my altitude... assigned is FL70 and I'm at 7000ft. My QNH is set correctly and still there's a never ending warning about my altitude. It's a cardinal sin but I've chosen to simply ignore this guy.I searched the manual and can't find any reference to the difference.
  16. Ok, tried the CENTER freq (118.77) to no avail. I still have 1-FSS WX, 4-CLR by FSS, and Main-0 listed but nothing happens when I press any of them. I know these used to work but the last time I was at a small airfield and remember them working was about 2 months ago when I was in Australia.
  17. That's interesting. I looked on the controller page in RC and there aren't any FSS freqs listed. Wait... is CENTER the FSS frequency? I didn't try that one. (see, I'm new at this) Also, I cannot get to the extended menu (9). When I press it nothing happens, so I cannot select direct next checkpoint.
  18. By your answer I'm obviously missing something here. I looked in the manual and didn't find a frequency for FSS. Where is that? I am manually tuning freqs. As for the checkpoints, I'm flying directly over them repeatedly, both by autopilot and manually. RC range indicates I'm at 0 miles from CP.As for requesting direct to next check point I'm unsure whether you mean in RC (there isn't a selection to do that) or in the Garmin I'm using (DreamFleet Baron 58 RXP). I'll have to look up how to do that with Garmin.
  19. I've got two problems. 1. I cannot get FSS to respond to me. I was flying from Truro, Cornwall to Cork, Ireland and my RC (4.3.3845) had two selections for me. 2-FSS WX and 4-CLR by FSS. Pushing 2 or 4 did nothing at all. RC works fine when I'm sitting on a field with a tower. But go to a small field and FSS doesn't work. Any ideas?2. Also, when flying from small fields the fly-to-points don't sequence. When I arrived at LND (for example) it doesn't shift to the next FTP. I repeatedly fly directly over LND and still RC doesn't shift to the next point. Is there a way to force RC to the next FTP? Thanks,
  20. The first checkpoint was about 1 mile N of the airport. I departed south and did a 180 to go back to the waypoint. One thing I did notice... when I asked for clearance to take off I didn't get the typical "cleared for takeoff" but rather "request received". I then sat for 10 minutes with a clear runway waiting, no other A/C either arriving or departing, got tired of waiting and just took off. The controller switched me to Brisbane Control and they told me to proceed as filed. Not being a pilot, I'm not certain I'm following all the correct procedures. When I received the "proceed as filed" I turned on the autopilot (GPS) and off I went. RC has been very predictable until this flight.Does IFR or VFR have anything to do with it?
  21. I'll have to check that sequencing. Auto pilot turned me just before the waypoint. Isn't there a proximity (i.e. 2.5 miles) around a waypoint that "counts" as crossing the waypoint? If I ask for direct to Darwin what happens to the other waypoints in the LA flight plan?
  22. I was flying across northern Australia and was flying GPS between Cairnes and Darwin. I was 30 miles into my route, right on track and began getting repeated calls telling me I was off coure and was ordered to do a 180 to head back until I had nav data (paraphrased). I did that and flew the 30 miles back to Cairnes... went back to my flight plan. At the same point RC began harping about my course. My flight was VFR using low altitude airways, flying via GPS.Any idea why RC was calling me an idiot for being off course? I'm not saying that I'm not an idiot, I just don't know what I was doing wrong.
  23. I just purchased this danged thing and I can't figure out how to program the dual throttles. Can anyone help me out here? I found one suggestion on the internet and it said that the sensitivities place is where to set it up but that area only shows a single throttle adjustment, vice two.Help?
  24. Thanks JD, I really do appreciate the rapid replies from you. Within a couple minutes of asking the callsign question I was able to answer the question. I'm VERY impressed with the product. Although some of the transmissions aren't realistically spoken (so what?), the content is accurate. I tried the hover thing to get tool tips to show up to mirror what I saw in the manual and haven't been able to find that particular hot spot. In the forum I've seen comments about 4.4. It's either people using the wrong version number or me eyes.I'm not a big fan of the other flight planners. They don't seem to do all that much more than the basic FS planner. Thanks again,Joel
  25. Noted differences and a few questions...1. There isn't a "Check For Updates" button. Should there be one in version 4.3?2. Plane Data - what do you select if you're just GA vice Commercial?3. How the heck do you get tool tips? 4. I keep seeing reference to v4.4 Is that an update I need? 5. The manual addresses ASV, they're up to ASv6.5, is there anything to add?6. Can one just use the stock FS route builder vice FSBuild?
