  1. Thanks Dave:

I found that the only thing deleted was the main FSX folder and everything else was still intact. (I wonder- that is where the DX 10 fixer was installed). As Charles and others mentioned, something is very odd here. I'm not going to be surprised at all that it had something to do with the libraries install failure.  Anyway, I've taken your advice and uninstalled the repaired FSX and now here comes the laborious task of starting anew. Thankfully I have all my payware files and most of the freeware backed up,

    Appreciate your advice, Roger

  2. Need advice in regards re-install:

Well, when I went to re-install FSX, I can only repair or uninstall. I tried uninstall, but (due to the deleted files) it would not do it). I've now repaired, and that wentOK, but I've always heard that a repair is not so good. Should I now uninstall FSX and then a fresh re-install, or is it OK as repaired?

  3. Thanks Guys:

I suspect you're right Anthony, it probably is a unique circumstance. My biggest concern (now that my senses have calmed down a bit) is that it could happen to others. I have e-mailed the company I purchased it from and will keep the good folks here informed of the results.

Dave: I've been simming steadily since FS98 and I wouldn't have believed it either if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. I have a very good anti-virus and several anti malware programs, and the computer is scanned daily. Just competed the scan before I started all this.

My biggest concern is in regards to the non-installation of the libraries. Were they partially installed but not completed and this caused the uninstaller to go after the entire sim?

I'll probably do a re-install as Mark suggested. I'm not too sure what I'd have with a restore. I do have a back up of 95% of what I did have installed, so it will make the task somewhat easier.

    Thanks gang!! - Roger

  4. BEWARE EVERYONE

Well, I installed the DX10 fixer, and like several people, did not get the water and rain shaders to work as they were greyed out ( the manual is rather poor in regards to this). Taking advise from  Paul's response to Richard Sennet,(no offense Paul-really appreciate all your work), I restored the original Shaders HLSL folder, uninstalled the libraries, and uninstalled the DX10 fixer. I then rebooted the computer, reinstalled the DX10 fixer and attempted to reinstall the libraries. I got an error to the effect of " error-  libraries not installed dll error - dll 32".

I thought it might be because I did not reboot after re-installing, so I rebooted the computer, and ran the DX10 fixer again. The libraries were still showing uninstalled, so I ran the library installer again. Same result.

I thought well, maybe I got a bad installation this time of the fixer program, so I called up the computer control panel,  double checked to ensure that I was uninstalling the right thing, and ran the uninstaller made sure it said "Steve's DX10" , went to the kitchen to refresh my coffee, and returned less than 2 minutes later to find that the uninstaller had effectively deleted my entire FSX, all 40 or 50 paid addons,  hundreds of freeware -  etc. The only thing left in my fsx folder was the FSX exe.

I sure hope that I can re-install all this

  5. Hi Mike:

Although Samdim obviously knows a LOT more about this plane than I ever will, I will confirm that the Q400 work perfectly with Opus, both weather and dynamic movement, and the weather radar does seem to find the precipitation ( although I haven't flown through any really heavy stuff with it yet).

  6. Overall, the Simcheck A300 is one of the better airliners available. It has very accurate systems modeling, fuel, air, hydraulics etc.

It has a very good flight model, and is a real pleasure to fly. There doesn't seem to be any quirks in any part of it.

Some folks do not like the virtual cockpit textures, as they are not current quality. It is a first generation electronic flight deck, and does not have an FMC, ( although that is being made - albeit quite slowly). It uses a delco carousel for lateral navigation, and can be used with the default FSX GPS nav.

The external model is not bad, and there are quite a few repaints available. I haven't flown on a real A300, but I have been on it's younger little brother the A310 many times, and the sound pack seems very close to that.

If you like planes of this era, this one is very nice.

In case you didn't know, it won the Avsim "Bravo Zulu" award in 2010.

  7. Hello All:

Aerosoft did a very nice job on this. It flies like it is supposed to on autopilot, and is a real gem to fly by hand.

As far as being hardcore, I think a good description could be "medium".

Is it better than Wilco? system depth, probably not, but look, feel and performance, significantly nicer.

  8. Stelios:

Go to the Level-D Forum, and do a search for "dll.xml" . The new office installation may have affected this file, and there is good info there on how to repair it. This is not uncommon with the Level D 767.

  9. Hello Richard:

Fs Water Configurator has eight different sliders to adjust the reflection from the water and thus the surface of the water. It has fifteen preset selections as well. Adjusting these sliders will make the water surface appear wavier and different in color. It is a good, easy to learn program and gets amazing results. Best of all it is freeware, and even has a support forum. Here is a link to the web site.

Give it a try. If you don't like it, it has a button that will return everyting to default.

  10. Jack:

I have purchased and made a few flights now, and the Autopilot works fine for me. Both the - and the + clickspots are VERY - VERY tiny and are somewhat center to left below the bottom of the various knobs. When you can find either the + or - spots, the mouse wheel will work to increase or decrease.

The vertical speed adjustment clickspots are the hardest to find. They are located at the top left beside the adjustment wheel for the + and at the bottom left beside the wheel for the -. Again once you can find either spot the mouse wheel can be used to increase or decrease.

This is something that definitely should be addressed bty Wilco, but as a whole, the plane isn't that bad.I hope this may be some help to you.

  11. Hello All:

Well, I purchased it. I'm not the biggest Wilco fan, but I do find their ERJ's OK, and back when they released the original CRJ, it wasn't that bad of a plane. I also wanted another RJ as I prefer shorter trips - I gave up waiting for Aerosoft.

I've only done one flight last evening, and am about to start another. My impressions? Not bad at all.

Is it perfect? I don't really spend much time outside looking at the plane, but my brief walk around impressions - as mentioned above the nose seems a bit off. (So did their original 737 - but it was a nice plane to fly). The rest of the plane looked like a CRJ is suppossed to as far as I could tell'

I'm strictly a 3D cockpit person, so I can't comment on the 2D panel, but I was actually impressed with the CRJ's virtual cockpit. The feel of 3D I thought was better than the ERJV2, And waaay better than the CRJ V1. There are issues, the click spots for the knobs ( course, heading, alt) on the AP are hard to find. The display panel, which you have to reach through the yoke to get at, did not seem to work from the VC, but the 2D pop up worked OK. Other than that, I didn't notice any glaring oddities . (The instruction manual leaves a bit to be desired).

The systems ( Hydraulics, Air, Electrics Anti Ice, etc) seem to be modeled OK and worked as I expected, very similar to the CRJ V1, but a bit more refined.

How did it fly? Just like I expected. Similar to the CRJ V1, rotation has to be monitored closely, it likes to jump into the air when it finally lifts off. The Autopilot - CDU worked well, climb to cruise in speed mode went as it should. Level off and cruise - no auto throttle in these - were fine and I didn't notice any porpoising. Descent in V/S mode worked great, and just like the real CRJ (as I've heard), was a little difficult to land nicely.

Yes, I own and fly the PMDG NGX regularly, and there is no comparison.

I purchased the deluxe version of the CRJ NG, and for me, (again this is an early post as I haven't flown it but the once) It seems OK. If you liked the ERJ's from Wilco, flew thw CRJ V1 or just want an RJ for those short hauls - like me, you'll probably like this one.

Not a perfect re-creation, but certainly very far from bad. For the asking price of the deluxe version, which was $41.00 and change Canadian, It's not a bad deal at all. I'm actually quite glad I bought it.

Anyway, away I go test flight #2 CYOW-CYYZ is awaiting its pilot.

  12. I'll second Al's opinion. I purchased the Comet, and yes it has its drawbacks, as Al mentioned the AP could be better (more realistic - it does work OK but you need to use both the included pop up "modern" AP with the Virtual Cockpit AP)I also think the systems could use some refinement and I sure wish there were more liveries or a paint kit (I do realize it wasn't that popular in real life). On the plus side, the front cockpit and the FE and nav stations are done quite nicely, and in respect of the statements posted earlier, actually I prefer this virtual cockpit a whole lot more than DM.s photoreal version. The extrernal model seems to be spot on as well. And man is it addictive. If you want to hand fly a jet, this one is fun!! It does indeed seem to handle very well, and once you get the hang of it, it is a true joy to fly.Don't get me wrong, this is no PMDG, but it definitly is, in my opinion, better than any freeware out there.I am glad I purchased it and I have full intentions of buying the Viscount, - Roger

  13. I'm not familiar with ATI cards, I run an Nvidia 880GTS with only 320mb. Needless to say my rig had some wild stutters, especially with PMDG's NGX. However following Ryan(Tabs - PMDG) advice, I turned my anti-aliasing down to 4xS. I don't notice much difference in graphics quality, and my sim is now buttery smooth. - Roger

  14. Thanks for your concern. I guess it might help too explain why I thought it was very poor service and now would rather have paid the extra and purchased elsewhere. Had I purchased from the main distributor, I would already be flying the upgrade as of app 48 hours past. As far as a response from the Avsim Store, one would have thought that there would have been at least some automated response advising of the unavailability of service. In this day and age most inquires to other large websites such as Avsim get answered in minutes to hours, I am now going on 40 hours. Am I disappointed? Yes.Would I purchase another item from Avsim Store? I don't know for certain, but as of right now, probably not, because had I known this was going to occur, I would, as mentioned, purchased direct for the higher price. I don't think I would chance purchasing from them again. I sure hope I find out something though. - Roger

  15. Hello Folks:I'm not too sure if this is the correct forum to post this in, but since it is about an FSX airliner, I have posted it here. I wanted to let others know of my experience, once bitten, twice shy. I have been a big fan of Avsim since its inception, and use its services daily. As it is a top notch organization, and after reading very positive reviews here for the Simcheck A300, I decided to buy it, and since the Avsim Store had it on sale, I felt I should purchase it here. What an amazing airliner. It quickly became my favorite plane. I was anxiously awaiting the release of SP2, which was released Friday Jan 14 by Simcheck, The update is a complete re-install which according to Simcheck's website must be downloaded from the original download site, in my case the Avsim Store. There does not seem to be anywhere on the Avsim Store site to download this update. Over 36 hours ago, I sent a message to vmaxflight@gmail.com, (which is the address given on Avsim Store's customer service webpage) asking how to get the update. I have yet to hear back from Avsim Store in that 36 hours.I have been in contact with Simcheck, and I am hopeful to get this resolved soon with some help from Aerosoft. I still don't have the update.I will certainly be leery of purchasing from the Avsim Store in the future with service such as this. - Roger NevesI would have been much better off paying the full price and downloading from Aerosoft directly. At least I would have my update. I will definitely be leery of purchasing
