  1. HI I am using FSROUTE.COM to create my .PLN files to be used for ASA, AS6.5 or ASXNow the site is down giving following error messageQTEMicrosoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'Unspecified error/libfuncs.asp, line 403 UNQTEIs there any other method to create such files ?Any hint highly appreciated.
  2. Hi Macc, see my post #10QTE My planner is homemade with EXCEL - you need to have some experience with flightplanning - it is NOT automated likeFSBuild or FOC - somebody wrote me that my planner is for "hard-core user " only.Send me your e-mail adress via PM and I will send it to youUNQTE
  3. Same flight at FL270same overspeed warning after 2 mins level - M.81 temps normal - before warning well below red ribbonthen speed was reduced to M.78 - whereby the PERF page says ECON speed is .819 (???) is this speed for OPT LVL or present level ?Never had this in any of my 100+ flights ( all on longer routes )
  4. Hi,here are the figures :T/O fuel at t/o-run 19400 all kgs at 1450ZTOC with 15400 at 1500ZCRZ FL230TOD with 12200 at 1522ZTD with 10500 at 1541Zso ttl fuel used 8900After feeding the FMC at LFPG the machine gave the following dataTrip 9.0/00515% 0.5Altn 3.1Final 4.1ETA EDDF 1540 with 11.1After reaching FL230 the speed went up to M.795 with TAS 495 which is much too high - but no warnings !Then something happened - I did not notice the reason - I had an overspeed warningand the speed went down to M.745 later .741 with TAS 460I am now sure that this high speed has something to do with faulty temps provided by ASA - temps were around minus 10 to 12 CTemps continued to go down to the normal ( predicted ) temp of minus 32 C and the speed also went downfrom M.738 to .725 later .710 with TAS 455/450/440/430Will check this further
  5. Hi,just finished second flt - very astonishing happenedWill come back tomorrow morning - I am busy tonight
  6. Gents, perhaps I am totally wrong in my set-up to generate my flight plans.lets talk about my method :1. I use rtfinder for the basic - in this case LFPG - EDDF brings up 264,3 NM2. I use FSroute.com to create the .PLN file for usage with ASA (or AS6.5 ) I insertQTENIPOR UH101 RANUX UN858 BETEX Z110 AKIGO T180 OSMAX UNQTE also from Rtfinder( I know FSROUTE is tricky since it uses only up to cycle 0610 )it makes no problems in this case - no changes in 0905 !3. I look up on Navigraph the SID for LFPG - today its a clear westerly T/OI plan on 26R and plan to use SID NIPOR 1 B/E which gives me several waypoints to NIPOR which I insert intofsroute - rt finder gives me to NIPOR 58 NM but counting the dep route it will add up to 101 NM plus 43 NM !!4. Same with EDDF STAR - I am planning 25L for landing on the following routingOSMAX EPINO LAGES REDLI MTR LEDKI 25L ( modified OSMAX 3E routing, more realistic to RW app ) which adds up to 91 NM isortfinder 50 NM from OSMAX to EDDF plus 41 NM !5. This totals to 348 NM for the trip6. all these additional waypoints are inserted into FSROUTE which creates a LFPGEDDF.PLN which I can use in ASA and I get a fullflt plan with all the wx info.So far my flt planning .EDIT : Forgot to ask, is there any other source for those .PLN files ?I used this new routing for a new fuel calc - now based on figures which I got from the last trip this morning.flt time will be 53 mins - W/C now plus 25BURN 9300 KGS5% 465 KGSTTL ALTN fuel 9700 KGSTTL T/O fuel 19465 ( 19500 ) kgsTOW now 228.7 minus BURN = well below MAX LW Will fly it now and will report
  7. Hi everybody, just finished this short trip - it was frustrating in respect to my calculations . . .1. Normally I use rtfinder for my route planning and then I check Navigraph charts for SID and STAR and addthe differences to rtfinder. In this case it was wrong - when I entered the route in the FMC it told me that thedistance will be 305 NM2. Speed - mach nr at FL230 is .71 with a TAS of around 4303. Time and dist to TOC was 10 mins and 60NM - I did not take the fuel ( telefone . . . )4. Fuel at T/Orun was 17.4 ( had 17.5 ttl and spared all the taxi procedure at LFPG ) TO was at 1000Z rnway 08L TOD at 1035 with 10.5 fuel T/D at 1047 on 25L with 9.6 remaining fuel5. Which means ttl burn was 7.8, much more than calculated, for 2 mins less flt time !This means lots of work for me . . . but never mind - it's just fun and interesting for me to work with excel andprepare a new flight planning tool.
  8. Interesting flight - as I mentionned before I never planned such a short trip - and I found out that my homemade program is not the best toolfor short trips ( and I will look into this further . . . )I planned LFPG-EDDF with my existing tool - here are the resultsRtfinder gives me a distance of 264 NM but with all SID and STAR miles it sums up tp 364 NMWind generally WEST with 45 kts which gives me a W/C PLUS 22 and a flt time of 49 minsZFW 209,2Burn 6768 kgsCont 5% 338 kgsAltn EDDK 85 NM 2660 kgs30 mins res 3434 kgsMLF 3500 kgsTTL RES required 9932 kgsMin T/O fuel incl. taxi 17200 kgsSo TOW will be 225,9 KtonsFLEX data will be around 50 ( no detailed data checked ) with flaps 18Eric, I will send you my excel sheet with e-mailTo sum it up - for short trips I will have to revise my program ( for the 737 I have already some tables for short flights ), but I have no fuel figures for low altitude flying with the MD11 !!
  9. Hi Eric,Will check this - but, I have never planned such a short tripBest

  13. Hi,shortly after having typed my last post I found the FMC manual 100.xxxxI made the trip - it was interesting . . .See attached picture - after NP crossing I disabled the normal NAV function and chased the magenta line with the HDG SEL. It started with HDG 359 althought the HDG indicator showd a southerly direction - it slowly adjusted to the normal HDG and after N85W148 the normal NAV was reestablished.
  14. Hi,in the above mentionned book I found a flight plan from ESGG to PAFA and I want to try this flight - but now I have a problem. How do I insert a coord like 80N010E - this question sounds silly, since I fly for long time NAT tracks and insert something like 50N20W as5020N and it will be accepted. Now I want to insert 80N 010E / 85N 010E / 90N 000E / 85N 148W / 80N 148W and 75N 148WThe manual says :Waypoints may also be entered by typing the latitude and longitude in the SP and entering the desired position with a left LSK.Waypoints entered in this manner will be defined in the ACT F-PLN as NXXWXXX.So far so good - the MD11 FMC will not accept either N80E010 ( not in database ) nor 80N010E ( not in database ) !!Entering 8010N will be accepted, but how does the FMC recognize 10 as E and not W - see above how does the FMC know that 5020N shouldbe 50N20W ??I searched the forum but no success . . .
  15. Hello Kan-ichiro,I searched a little bit in my library and found a relatively new book called "Northbound Lady - with the last big Trijet to Alaska" by a colleague of my son, now also no longer on the MD11.Suggest to visit his website at http://www.ritterimages.com/index.htmThis book is impressive not only the professional description of a flight via Polar Route, but also the beautiful pictures of the flight and of Alaska.
  16. I was in Sep 03 on a trip from FRA to FAI with my son who was at that time captain on a MD11 - most northern point was N85. But we came to a discussion about navigation direct over the North Pole. Here is what I can recall ( 6 years ago )Shortly before the NP the navigation system will cease its normal work and will only provide through the AP the basic function - hold wings level and keeps its original heading. After about 1,5 minutes or 12 nm the nav system has itself reestablished to provide normal navigation.I don't know if this modelled in the PMDG MD11

  18. On other reasons I had to make two trips on same route with ASA and AS6.5.I noticed a stange phenomena - 3 different winds in all NAV LOGS along the route EGLL-KJFKAll downloaded around Apr25 0930Z within 5 minsEGLL-DIKASASA 147/41 - ASX 143/41 ( which is OK ) and AS6.5 176/35to SHAASA 140/30 slowly changing to 125/10ASX 140/31 abrupt change to 019/08AS6 118/14 changing to 110/17 and later to 020/25to NAT exit point DOGALASA 340-295/around 35ASX 018/8 to 5 ktsAS6 020/25to 53N020W ASA 293/28ASX 018/05AS6 016/20to 52N030WASA 327/52ASX 336/52AS6 317/43to 51N040WASA 290/30ASX 336/52AS6 317/43to 50N050WASA 238/61ASX 229/106 !!!AS6 231/81to YQXASA 275/40-36ASX 000(north)/ 37AS6 355/42from YQX to EBONYASA 357/41ASX 002/48AS6 352/58All readings for FL340Sometimes the differences are not so big, but there are some which influences flightplanning a lot.My question now: Are there 3 sources for the winds - each program uses a different source ? And during flight a 4th source ? Sincenot so seldom I experienced heavy differences up to 180 degrees off the forecast.
  19. Hi Dan,latest step is to load the airplane as LBS version and shortly before T/O switch to KGS - fuel indication will be correct!I think my installation is currupt . . .
  20. Hi,I am a little disappointed that up to now NO responses . . . :( Changed to LBS version and everything is fine and normal !Is this a known bug with the KGS version ??
  21. Next follow up:Changed my load so I can carry 164 tons of fuelIsolated the problem as an indication problem on EICAS in the center tankTTL fuel showed 174 tons - the indication of ctr tank switched back and forth between 42.1 and 52.3Took off and after TOC did something completely idiotic : changed fuel load with PMDG options to the approx correct value -and BINGO: the indication was correct and stayed this way . . . !Still no ideas ? New installation ? I already have 4 ( various new computer . . . )
  22. Follow up:Loaded pax version - no problem with fuelChanged a/c to 74F and same problem came up - exactly 10tons on FMC more than loaded
  23. After about 150 flights with the 747 ( both pax and cargo ) a new bug came up:Planned flight EDDV-MMMX very close to MAX TOGW planned fuel was 160.5 ktons of fuelLoaded the flight with load mgr and sent it to FSXDuring perf init the fuel showed 170.6 (!!) despite the fact that max fuel for 747F is only 164.0 !!I tried several fuel loads ( 1/3 and 2/3 and even full fuel load ) with PMDG options and every time the FMC added 10 tons of fuel after a few seconds ( it showed very briefly the correct amount )Any ideas ?Never had this before . . .even closed down FSX and started again with same result!
  24. Yesterday I did a flight into EHAM. With 0902, but . . .I planned to land at 18R - ILS freq 110.1 - unable to tuneChanged to 18C - tuned ok - the rnwy marking showed 19R !!FSX problem ? EDIT : Sry was FS9! with 738
