  1. Thanks to FloG and Tim-HH for providing the solution to a very frustrating problem! Best wishes from the frozen Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania USA.
  2. Works ok here, installed SP2 and have had no problem with anything. It opened up some space on the C drive, too.
  3. For anyone interested in new toys, I recently bought FScene 4X for $17.00 at this site: http://www.fspilotshop.com/index.php After paying with Paypal the 68 meg download was easy to install and made a dramatic improvement in the overall textures and scenery for FSX and FS9 both. No framerate hit either, I thought it's well worth the money.
  4. Yes, it's SP2. Thanks for the reply, glad it's a problem with only 2 planes.
  5. Hello all, With some downloaded airplanes there's a strange effect in the VC panel. It looks like a shiny reflective metallic square with gauges and scenery showing through. Everything works fine, but that metallic square where the panel should be is really annoying. Is there a line in the panel cfg that needs changed? Any ideas? Could the planes with this problem be converted from FS9, but still need one more tweak? For what it's worth I have Vista Home Premium 32, AMDx2 5000, FSX Deluxe with sp1, 4 gigs ram and an Nvidia 8600 GT card with latest drivers. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
  6. Yes, thanks. Helped me too.
  7. I'm 57 years old, and live in rural Pennsylvania USA near the flight 93 crash site. I work as a masonry construction foreman, and do mostly water treatment plants and school additions. Have 2 large dogs and a Les Paul guitar, got hooked on flight sims on a Commodore 64! Also enjoy photography, music and collect postal history from the early days of air mail.
  8. I copied the modules folder from my old pc to my new one, cameras now ok.
  9. I have Vista 32, FS Camera installed as per readme note, running FS as administrator, in XP mode, FSUIPC V. 3.8 installed, anti virus turned off and still no camera. I'll keep trying. Everything else is great!
  10. We're in the same boat. Active camera and FSCamera aren't working for me either on my new Vista powered pc. Sorry I don't have an answer. Misery loves company, I miss those cameras. Keep trying.
  11. Thanks for the replies and advice, it makes sense. I found one guy who complained about his low frame rate (50fps). I'd be happy with half of that. I'm looking at a system with a 2.6 ghz dual core processor and 2 gigs ram. I'll install a video card with pixel shading and sound card, that should do the trick. I hope.
  12. Assume a system has decent video and sound cards, 1 gig ram and an Intel Dual Core E2140 processor @ 1.6 Ghz, with Vista Premium. Will that be enough firepower to run FSX? And FS9? Been searching this and other hardware forums, and not finding much help. Want to upgrade, but a quad core system more powerful than Mission Control is out of my price range. Any advice for the budget minded???
  13. That's a lot of horsepower. Guys walked on the moon with a lot less! I run FS9 really well with a Celeron 2.5 gig, 780 megs ram and a Radeon 9520 video card with good frame rates. The machine you linked to has Windows Vista, that may (or may not) be a compatability issue with FS9. I know it is a problem with Silent Hunter III. It also has only onboard sound, you may need a better soundcard. Only you can say if it's worth it, but it's definitely a high power system. If I'm not mistaken, a British pound is around $2.oo USD. I suspect you could get a similar system from a dealer here in the US for much less, even after shipping charges. Tiger Direct or Newegg might be worth a look. Regards from Pennsylvania USA Jack Watch
  14. Let me join the crowd! For no good reason I get a CTD when downloading real world weather as of yesterday (5/29/07). Glad this post was here, I'll hold off on the re-install project...
  15. I'm 54 years old and work as a construction foreman, mostly on school additions and water treatment plants. Got my flight sim start on a Commodore 64. Also enjoy C++ programming, classical music and military history. (See my warbird posts "True Stories" at the Avsim combat flightsim forum)Best wishes to you all from Somerset Pennsylvania USA!
