FSX vsync for ATI 5850 - 90% fix
triton replied to dolesrus's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI've been setting up a friends rig with fsx and the 5870 card. I can fix vsync with d3doverrider, but when I try and setup the enb mod fsx crashes.. has anyone else managed to use this mod with d3doverrider on the 58xx cards?I think it makes a hugh difference to the simvisuals and runs great on my GTX260. Thankstriton

Pacific North West from ORBX is out !
I've always been a fan of this area, and those look fantastic, they have my money! This looks to be even better than the Australian series (they have added so much more) but to be honest thats what I've come to expect from them.Orbx have continually updated the Australian releases not just bug fixes, but as more technologies and methods have improved they have reworked the previous sceneries, and at no cost (other than the re download). The result is an Amazing representation of Australia ...over 14 months of work have gone into this I believe and it shows..only 3 hours to wait for my download to complete (miser band ADSL) and I'll be good to go.Thanks Maurice.

It's a Sad Day When it gets like this .. Orbx is closed
Why Don't you give it a try and see what happens. I suspect installation will complete as usual they are still selling the product after all.and i think it talks to the flightsim store anyway.I understand your concern over what happens if I can't install it. But I don't think thats the case.As for Punishing the pirate, by closing the web site. I'm sure it isn't aimed at that, nor is it aimed at punishing the supporter/customer. It simply highlights an issue on the web site. perhaps there updating it!Personally I'm still a fan, I can't wait for the Pacific Regions to become available, and without a doubt what they have achieved with Australia is amazing especially when you consider the freeware work they continue to deliver to the community. And the Community's contribution via OZx Forums. Where there is an additional mass of smaller strips to download all free!I'd love to see that comunity do the Same for the Pacific North west etc.So for me The "tantrum" is only highlighting a fact that if we collectively don't play our part in stamping out piracy then. the future for our sim enjoyment will be restricted to a few freeware builders, most of whom are getting fed up with non constructive and negative comments from users who themselves aren't willing to try and develop but expect that others will produce endless high quality projects for there consumption. Finally can I say Thanks if your a developer :)

It's a Sad Day When it gets like this .. Orbx is closed
Just popped over to http://fullterrain.com/ Orbx is closed . Check it out It seems they are protesting about the fact that there Software is being stolen again. And Who can blame them. When will people begin to name and shame those involved, it's not clever, would you steal food from your neighbors kids.. it's much the same, theft is theft. It's just the desire to change attitudes on Software theft needs to be driven by respectable people such as those on this forum, otherwise we'll all end up on locked down consoles... or worse still without that which we enjoy. To those that might read this and think I don't want to Pay. don't use the software then or check out the opensource and free software. I've only dabled in scenery design and i know the amount of effort that goes into it even for the simplest of things. There must be some way of making those that steal understand the consequences, it appears they believe that there are none.. because they feel that they are imune to prosecution. How do we stop this and say it's not acceptable, or have human Morals sunk so low to the point where we think it's o.k.sorry for the rant, the minority wreck it for the rest of us.. this just hacks me off..Triton

FEX Update is Released !!
>And Danny wait until you change certain settings in FSX and>have this revert back to 1024. Then what???? It won't be>nonsense then!>>Jim>>Hmm..... Well Jim, then what? Will there be a big problem, will the world end?No... Will you need to do some horribly complicated stuff to fix fsx or your computer...No...Just run fex, it's that simple..so in summary:run fex launch fsx Enjoy stunning clouds with performance better than before..now, I spend too much time on the forums, I'm off to fly :)

FEX Update is Released !!
For me, the difference with the SHD clouds was Just amazing, so much more detail in them, for the first time I felt like I was moving through cloud, and actually the sim runs better than it did before the upgrade even when it's overcast. Being based in the UK this for me is a major bonus :)In a way it's as if I've had a small cpu upgrade without the cost or disruption :)there's really no going back now, when you consider all I had to do was install the update, pick a theme and install.. that was it..CheersMaurice

FEX Update is Released !!
>>Have you changed this line if your FSX.cfg file?:>>>>TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096>>>>Jim>>>>http://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpg>>http://www.hifisim.com/>>The only change Ive ever made in FSX.CFG was the>wideviewaspect=true. Otherwise everything else is untouched.>Are you saying I need to go in and actually set that value in>FSX.CFG to 4096? Thank you.actually if you just run FEX before you start the sim, it will change this for you :)

FEX Update is Released !!
>Definitely, Jim, especially for someone like me, who when>landing a complex plane at a busy airport, routinely reduces>the AI traffic before the approach to improve control on>landing. I may have to limit the high-def clouds to GA>flights, or else forego much of my AI. But the clouds sure are>nice.>>RobertJust a thought, I believe that from What's been said that the limitation in the sim, is the fact that the "slider" forces the value of 1024 back into the config file.. that's been my experience anyway. So if you routinely make these changes to ai on approach could I suggest that on one occasion you make the change to the config and then Save the config to a file.. called approach?next Edit the approach config file, and change the values for TML to 4096. In effect create a few configs that you use most and edit them. Now when you fly, and approach your airport, instead of going into the sliders just select load from the menu and your approach config..as you don't view the menu (i.e. the slider) you should get your your new ai settings, bloom off etc for approach as well as the 4096 textures set in that config file...If it's the gui that's limiting the change, this would get you round the gui problem inherent in FSX, and it's quicker than using the gui anyway, I'm off to work anyone want to try?CheersMaurice.
