  1. Not wishing to sound rude, but I think we understand all of that already Jim, no one is pointing at you or HIFI, and same goes for PMDG, it is just a frustrating error, if I was to contact PMDG and state the problem, they will more than likely say if our software works without ASA or ASX then its not our software thats at fault. This is like phoning an ISP and they offer no support for the ADSL modem they supply, and you have to ring the manufacturers. Do you see what I am saying here, as a customer with soft and hardware, we are stuck in the middle, and if one party says its not our fault and the other says the same, then we are stuck with software that doesnt work !!I really like the weather interface from HIFI and it has improved no end with the service packs, and I am sure in time it will work fully. I also really enjoy flying PMDG's 744x, but microsoft software has always been problematic with addons and not just the FSworld. But normally things get sorted, I cannot begin to understand the programming involved within either PMDG or HIFI simulations and wouldn't want to :) So I understand how difficult it is for you guys, and for any other developer with this software and the problematic FSX, good luck in sorting it, I am frustrated but I am happy to hang in there and put up with the faults until sorted.

  2. HiInteresting reading, nice to know I'm not alone with the ASA problem.Yesterday flew HECA to EGLL. Take off fine, set climb to FL340, and got to FL288 because my outside temp was reading +60 again :( So closed ASA opened it again, temp reset itself to -22 and climbed fine. The temp settled at that and was fine from there on in. Another half an hour in then the "s" turns start again, I really really hate the "s" turns, if the aircraft isnt "s" turning then its moving vertically up and down by three or four hundred feet which I find equally annoying!!!PMDG 744x, FSX all packs, Accelorator pack, ASARgdsPaul Harvey

  3. Hi JimMakes no difference if its on or not, but from the other shots you can see, the wind turning the AC, I know you guys are working on it. Its great software and I am enjoying it, but this wind problem with PMDG is a pain, if I turn FSUIPC on or off it makes no difference, but enabling it then disabling cures the problem !! weird hey. Soon as I set FSUPIC to windsmooth then off again it stopped turning the plane. Anyway no probs...

  5. Well it started just east of India but it was at night, and the temp was about -18 and the tat was about the same. I was using default FSX weather with FSUIPC smoothing so I don't know about possible turbulence as FSUIPC smoothes all of that away.Rick
yep what Rob said, check out the weather it is a known problem

  6. I have had this problem show up twice. After making a step climb once to FL370 the second time to FL390 the plane just seems to lose power airspeed drops down to around 150knots even tho N1 is still showing over 90% auto throttle and speed hold were on off on off several times. The ac won't hold altitude no matter if I use alt hold, vnav or flch. I am currently flying from Dubai to Hong Kong, I had to make an emergency landing at Mandalay Myanmar. After l landed and shut down everything except APU, I started up again and now it seems to be working fine, the only difference is I have left continuous ignition on the entire flight. Is continuous ignition needed at high altitudes.BTW, I have the registered version of FSUIPC with smoothing set as per a forum thread I read here. Thanks,Rick Faulk
Hi RickWhats the weight of plane fuel etc, and whats in the VNAV page for max alt ???? You cannot just climb this plane from TO to FL 370 or FL390 if not planned properly due to weight. If you can provide more info I can help. But normally on Long Haul step climbs are used. Also whats the air temp

  7. In the FSX controls setup, I've set a button on the yoke to toggle on and off the autopilot (mapped to Z).This works perfectly for the MD-11, but nothing happens in the 744.Any help appreciated. I did do a search but gave up reading the many, many results :( Thanks
Yes goto the PMDG menu in the flight sim, click on addons, PMDG, then keyboard commands, find autopilot disc, then assign a key to it, like ctrl+Z, then goto FSUIPC click the buttons + switches tab, and program FSUIPC with the button you selected, i,e. button two on your yoke = ctrl + Z set it and that should be it. you can test it in fsuipc by pressing the button and making sure ctrl Z appears.

  8. I've only had it for about a couple of days. And when you mean some of the parameters of FMC must be correct, which parts? P.s. Here's something I just realized. I only program one of the FMCs; I only work the captains side but leave the co-pilot's untouched. Does that have something to do with it?
Ok you have to read the manual in ref to the FMC its would be too hard to explain here, just go to start PMDG then the FMC user's guide and follow it, then you will understand. And yes only set the captains FMC, but you must know the parameters before going any further, you will need fuel weights etc and distance in order to program it fully, the manual is a must, I think also there is a tutorial on youtube,
but even so you will need to read. The sim has been made/designed to work like the real thing, and you really just cant take off without some knowledge. I have had the plane well over a year, and even now still read things I never knew. The devil is in the detail

  9. For some reason, the LNAV function on the autopilot won't come on or activate at all, even if I have a route set up in the FMC and is shown on the NAV display. To make matters worse, the VNAV function has problems as well. Not only won't it also function, but I always get an FMC message saying "Unable crz alt". Even though the aircraft is not that heavy and my selected crusing altitude is reachable, it still gives me that message. Please, can anyone figure it out why?
How long have you been flying this plane ???? Can you post some screen shots, I dont think you programed the FMC correctly, Lnav/Vnav will not work if the parameters are incorrect or you dont have the aircraft in correct config.

  10. Hi JimJust wondering how things are coming along with ASA ?? I have REX and used the weather in that and it worked well, I also tried reverting back to ASX and now that has the same temp/wind problems as ASA. I like both ASX and ASA, but they are pretty unusable with my PMDG744x, I will continue to use Rex until ASA is sorted, sorry to hassle :( , but any info would be great.
