You need to install SteamVR.

As a first headset yes. It will give you idea of what VR is about and how much money you are willing to spend on it in the future.

I couldn't go back to small FOV of G2, waiting now for a reasonably priced headset with 4K res and at least 140 deg FOV before upgrading.

Pimax 5K+ for almost 2 years, before that Vive and Pimax 4K.

I can back up the part about never going back to flatscreen:)

Pimax 8KX (huge scalable FOV, 4K res, quirks) or Reverb G2 (potato FOV, 4K res). I doubt we'll be able to use Pimax to full FOV potential anytime soon in MSFS so G2 is a reasonable choice.
