  1. Are the more recently released -600 and -700 also based on the heaviest weight options offered by Boeing? There seems to be three different weight options on both variants in the Boeing document you linked.//Olli
  2. All other screens work just fine. There nothing on the FMS when I hit the on switch, just as blank screen as before. No amber lights on the overhead.
  3. I've now:-Copied the J41 fonts from FSX's font folder to the Windows font folder-restarted FSX -> still blank FMS-rebooted the computer -> still blank FMSI'm kinda out of ideas...//Olli
  4. Yes, of course I have. But still, no luck.
  5. Installing the J41 fonts directly to the Windows fonts folder didn't solve the issue.
  6. HiI'm trying to follow the tutorial flight on the J41 and all works ok until I should set up the FMS. When I try to press the ON key on the FMS, the screen just remains blank. This is the case for the both VC and popup 2d versions. Any ideas why the FMS isn't turning on?//Olli
  7. Now that this issue has been on the table for a while, I'd like to know that is this issue fixed/modeled correctly on the next MD11 service update?
  8. HiI've been using FS9 a while now because at least few months ago there wasn't a solution to wind shifts in FSX.So the question is really simple. Will latest ASA in combination with latest FSUIPC produce good winds aloft without any wind shifts?I haven't found any clear answer to this issue from the developers...//Olli
  9. Using VS while climbing, specially in a situation where speed is no that high and marginals that big, can lead to some nasty situations. Why not just use PROF as the aircraft has it?
  10. I've now replicated the EXACT same conditions in the simulator as described in the investigation report. Here is the investigation report(in Finnish): http://www.onnettomuustutkinta.fi/uploads/bl8h7kzdz83c5.pdfFacts as said in the report:TOW 263.3 metric tonnesRTO began at 115 knots using maximum braking and idle reverse. After about 30 minutes the fuse plugs melted on 2 wheels and recorded brake temperature were over 700 degrees celcius.Behavior in FSX with PMDG MD-11 and exact same conditions.I did two test runs and on the first run maximum recorded temperature on the hottest brake was 186 degrees celcius at 6min 40sec after RTO began. On the second run maximum temperature was 187 degrees and also around 6min 40sec after RTO.I understand that I've tested simulator behavior against only one factual report, but given that differences are so huge, I'm not willing to accept it as variance between simulator and real world. Some might argue also that this isn't important, but I disagree, you can't just slam on the brakes on the real aircraft without consequences and you shouldn't be able to in the simulator, either. There's the difference between good and excellent addon. And to VHOJT, if you would actually read my message you would find that I said MD11.//Olli
  11. I would compare more RTOs to if I'd have factual data on more than one.I still feel that the temperature behavior is not correct but since almost everyone seems to be ok with it I guess it won't matter...//Olli
  12. Any comments from the developers on this issue?//Olli
  13. I've been thinking there's a bug in brake temperatures for a while now but now I did test this out...I did 3 consecutive rejected takeoffs(at MTOW 285000kg) from about 170 knots using only wheel brakes. Result was that I got brakes only to about 440C and even getting temperature that high was really slow.I did some digging and there's a investigation report on Finnish Accident Investigation Board's website about a situation where there was a RTO situation with a MD11. In this situation the TOW was "only" 263385kg and after this one RTO the brake temps were recorded at over 700 degrees celcius.Surely, there a bug in modeling of the brake temperatures or something?//Olli
  14. >I'm still testing different setups/configs between ASX and>ASV6.5.>>The best results so far for stable winds with the MD11 were>achieved with ASV6.5, "Wind Drift Rate" = 5 or higher in ASV>settings and (surprisingly) all wind smoothing options "OFF">in FSUIPC.>Having wind smoothing options OFF in FSUIPC prevents the short>but heavy erratic wind shifts during new weather cycle>download and station refresh - at least on my rig.>>>Thanks>>Joerg>I now tried this with exact same settings and also tried to variable settings but no result.During new weather cycle download the wind direction shifts massively making the situation impossible really.Yesterday I did a leg and on final with new weather cycle download the 20 knot headwind shifted for a 20 knot tail wind, not really nice results..I'm beginning to be out of ideas.. :( Could anyone with working ASV6.5 setup(ie. no wind shifts during new cycle download) post their _exact_ FSUIPC and ASV settings?
  15. HiI'm finding that ASV6.5 with FSUIPC wind smoothing works quite ok with one issue. When ASV6.5 loads a weather update, the wind violently goes to 0 and then back to what it was previously. This behavior of course generates situations with the MD11 as you can go from nice cruise to 60kts overspeed in under and second and then back smooth cruising.Anyone with similar issue? or with a solution?//OlliEDIT: It seems I'm in a need some eyeglasses....sigh. Should have read whole thread through.
