  1. Me too Albert, I am very much looking forward to the 747v2. I feel as if I have grown up with the -400 starting with MSFS v4/A&SD then ATP, AS2 & PS1 and finally PMDG. Pete.
  2. Thanks from me too for all the fun but I have a question, just what was that first PMDG release 15 years ago? was it the "Precision Manual" otherwise known as the 747-400PS1 User's Guide? I still have my copy and it reminds me of the time when entertainment flight sims became more serious and suddenly required a lot more study. When PS1 came out I remember one sim session scratching my head trying to find out what MCP stood for, now look at us! Pete Adshead
  3. I'm pleasantly surprised to see how many folk are professional/private pilots or are otherwise employed in aviation. Somehow I always thought that the flight sim world was dominated by children or retired old gimmers (okay, I know, I was in one of those groups and may be in the other all too soon). Regardless of our occupation, for those of us, including me, who will never get their hands on a real airliner PMDG give us the next best thing.I'm 53, I live in the UK (1 nm west of EGHG). I am an airframe stress engineer specialising in landing gear and associated structure. I went solo in a glider long before I ever played with a flight sim. My first flight sim was Sinclair Spectrum Fighter Pilot followed by umpteen other titles interspersed with some real world flying starting with a Gliding Silver C. I have enjoyed: FS4, FS5, FS6......FSXFalcon 3.0ATP+3DAGSPS1.0, PS1.3Fly! + PMDG 757PMDG 737Real world PPL - Cessna 152, 172, PA-28PMDG 747PMDG MD11DCS Black Shark (I have a little stick time in real helicopters inc. Gazelle and imho this is the nearest entertainment sim to that experience).PMDG JS41 (I did three RW landings in a J31 once, that's the closest I have got to flying a RW PMDG 'plane :( )Cockpit building (generic console, GA panel, iocards, Hall sensor joystick. very slow progress)I'm looking forward to the new 737 heaps.I'll now give in to the (very strict) forum rules and sign my real name.Best wishes to all,Pete Adshead(Peter_Pilot)
  4. This is really rather inconvenient news, perhaps someone would be kind enough to explain just how I am going to squeeze yet another fine aeroplane into my already bulging hangar. Maybe I will have to dispose of one or two of my cherished airliners (they do take up the most space) or maybe several of the smaller GA types will have to go (the PA-31 maybe). When I last looked there was at least three 747-400s in there, one -400(FS9), one -400F(FS9) and a -400(FSX). I have to admit that quite a lot of space is being taken up by a couple of C-130s that I hardly ever fly even though they are quite nice. What with the global economic crisis my finances have been getting a little stretched by keeping all my aeroplanes hangared and insured. As a result I have decided to put the 737-600 on ground risks only and will not fly it, in fact I may dispose of it altogether considering that there is a new 737 in the offing. At least I didn
  5. Hello Tom,I have been using the 747 in FS9 and FSX and just recently got the MD-11. I have a 3GHz Core2Duo 2Gb RAM and a GF8800GTS 320Mb running WinXP. My initial impression of the MD-11 is that the 2D panels are really very good indeed, far in excess of almost anything I have seen before in MS Flight Sim. The 2D panels in the 747 are very good too just not quite so good as the new standard set by the MD-11. As far as the 3D virtual cockpit is concerned I prefer the 747X to the MD-11, I am not sure the reason for this, maybe the MD-11 is new and so different to the 747 that I havn't got used to it yet.As for frame rates, I would think that if you get good fps with the MD-11 then you'll be happy with the 747 even if you find it slightly slower.Best wishes,Peter.
