  1. I took the 175 out for a couple more legs today -- MAF-IAH, and then on to MLM. The plane seems extremely sensitive to the wind. Even a one knot, or one degree, change will rock the plane. Sure, it's lighter than an A320 or 737, but you seem to feel every bump in the road...I mean, sky. I also wonder if the degraded handflying control is a symptom or result of this perceived wind sensitivity. Takeoffs are much more challenging than landings for what it's worth, but above 1,500 feet or so it does get easier. The plane also seems a little more slippery on the way down -- I seem to be using the speedbrakes more than I remember doing before.
  2. I took a chance and installed 0.10.45 today. I was on the most up-to-date stable version previously (0.9.something). I've taken her (E175) up on two legs so far, DTW-IAD, IAD-BDL, and I'm currently en-route back to IAD. I struggle with what grade I'd give it, though. The VNAV appears to be slightly hit-or-miss. I had it completely blow through a restriction on the way down on one leg, and on another it descended without my commanding a lower altitude via the knob. I've also run into some struggles with actually capturing the descent path -- part of me wonders if the reaction times of whatever drives the trim commands needs to be sped up (not sure that's really a thing). The aircraft banks awfully hard in turns on autopilot, almost like the bank limiter has been removed. Nothing past 20 degrees or so, but it definitely leans over a lot at altitude; I'm not smart enough to know whether it's too much bank angle, or whether it's turning too soon. Otherwise, it's pretty solid in straight-and-level flying and appears to track the LNAV path better than before (but it's still not perfect). I absolutely have some rocking issues with handflying it, which makes takeoffs and landings borderline absurd. If you want to get seasick and experience PIO, have I got a jet for you. The updated FMC works fairly well for me. The only issue I've run in is when I try to insert a waypoint after the first one I've input. I can't seem to put it after, so I end up putting it before and then removing the extra one I now have. (Hard to explain without a picture, I suppose.) I was personally pleased with the 0.9 stable no-VNAV version; I don't do a lot of online flying anymore, so I could just make the descents work however I wanted them to. Obviously a fully-implemented VNAV is ideal, and this is a decent start. I've gotten a lot of use out of the stable version planes so far (I own only the short-bodies), but the handflying oscillations in the new one are a big step back. If they can fix that, we'll be back to a nice plane with an okay -- but definitely still in-progress -- VNAV attempt. I'll still fly this version, but the Aerosoft CRJ has been behaving itself lately, and might retake the #1 regional jet slot in my hangar.
  3. Thanks for the responses, guys! John -- I used the Targa method you suggested, and while I was in DXTBmp I noticed that the alpha was all sorts of wrong. I imported a new alpha from one of the default Tinmouse repaints, and voila! Now I'm in business. Hopefully I can wrap this paint up and become published! Appreciate the help! Matt
  4. Hello all! First, I wish to (belatedly) express my sincere thanks for this wonderful airplane -- what a joy! Second, I am a complete novice when it comes to repaints, so in answering my question, please point out things you might think are otherwise obvious. I tried searching around for help with my issue before posting, but couldn't find anything. I've been working on a Zambia Airways repaint for the TinMouse. My starting point is the paint kit downloaded from Avsim, and I'm using GIMP as my painting tool. I've gotten through a decent amount of progress, and after exporting the .bmps I can see that my computer in general recognizes them as such: repaint folder by parkave231, on Flickr However, when I load up FS9 to see the paint on the plane, I get this: FS9 render by parkave231, on Flickr Is it how I'm exporting the file out of GIMP (File -- export as -- Windows BMP)? I have to admit that one thing I was having issues with was chopping up the overall paint into the different sections, so my workaround was to export the entire thing, then open up the bmp in MS Paint, crop it, and then resave -- is that part of my problem? Thank you for any advice you can give! Matt
