  1. As an owner of both RealAir Dukes and the RealAir Legacy I can back up Rob's comments here. I've done a PC rebuild (or two) in the time I have owned the Dukes and reinstalling and reactivating them was not an issue. The email support is excellent also (I'm not sure what timezone Rob is in but on the rare occasions I've had to email support the responses were extremely prompt). RealAir are one of the few FSX vendors I can purchase from with complete confidence knowing that not only will I get a fine aircraft but also not have any issues with installation or (re-)activation.

    Serge

  2. I notice the same Serge. My BK is connected to the subwoofer-out circuit, so I would assume adding some low freq signal to the proper sound files would help. Of course I don't know how or even if that is possible.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing and even opened up the JS41 sound folder to have a look but with so many sounds files knowing the correct files to edit is beyond my limited knowledge.

  3. I recently added a Buttkicker to my sim setup after reading a topic on it in the NGX forum. It's a great addition and truly makes a difference to FSX however it doesn't appear to work so well with the JS41 compared to the NGX or GA aircraft such as the Realair Legacy. With the JS41 while in flight looking forward in the VC there is no feedback through the Buttkicker. If I turn to look out the side windows then I will get some feedback. Is there anything I can do to get some subtle feedback from Buttkicker while in cruise looking forward in the VC?

    Serge

  4. At the moment we haven't got around to implementing an import option so if you have created any of your own cameras they will be lost if you use this file by copying it to FSXSERVER.CAM in OpusFSX.

An import/export option for the cameras would be incredibly handy. Are there plans to implement this feature in the future?

    Serge

  5. Cheryl,

Your explanation for which settings to use depending on low / high flying are great. Maybe something worth considering is adding 2 buttons to the OPUS weather tab, "Defaults Low Flying" and "Defaults High Flying" (or something similar) which when pressed would apply the settings as you described above. This would make setting up a flight depending of flying style quick and easy.

    Regards,

    Serge

  6. Although I own both Dukes (which are easily my most flown GA aircraft in FSX) and know about Realair's excellent quality I was going to skip the Lancair and wait for their C172 however with the overwhelming positive response (no surprise really), a price reduction and strong Aussie dollar I couldn't resist any longer so purchased it yesterday. Took it for its first flight in the PNW and was not disappointed. In fact when I first started it up I just sat there staring at the awesome VC and admiring the work (love the cockpit vibrations).

Thanks Rob and Sean for another wonderful aircraft. I'm really looking forward to what you guy's will do the the C172.

    Regards,

    Serge

  7. G'day Stephen,

Here is a link to Airservices Australia Charts that combine all the charts for an airport (SIDS, STARS, Approach, etc) into a single PDF. I find this quite handy rather than downloading individual charts from the Airservices Australia Website.

    http://www.crc.id.au/xplane/charts/

Steve's Blog has permission from Airservices Australia to do this.

Hope this is of some use.

    Serge

  8. Also, Bryon York has previously mentioned that there is an update to FS2Crew for the JS41 that is waiting for SP2 so he can release an updated version with added functionality such as the FO being able to set the correct runway heading and initial alt during his taxi flow for you, fix a bug with the FO switching off the Prop De-Ice and perhaps some other minor items.Regards,Serge

  9. I tired to e-mail them but Firefox wont let me use hotmail and so I don't have there address.
Strangely the Austscene website seems to be unavailable at the moment however when it works again there is a contact me link with their email address on the left hand side.
So are you saying that these Oz Nav Data is suppose to be used over-top of the Navigraph stuff, I mean I fly into all those Oz fields and if its better more up to date data then I'd love to use it.
Yeah, that's my understanding. You install the Navigraph data first and then the Austscene data which will overwrite some of the Navigraph Australian and NZ airport procedures (only the ones Austscene has updated with the current Air Services Australia data). These should match the current Departure and Approach procedures from the Air Services Australia website. The current cycle is November 2010 however the next cycle is March 2011 so it should be available soon. Below is the header of the Austscene YPPH.txt file and you'll see the reference to Navigraph.
//********************************************************// AIRPORT PROCEDURES// For YPPH Perth, Australia// Created by Jock McIntyre for www.austscene.com// Last Rev 18TH nOVEMBER 2010 DAP125// Use with Navigraph Data // For use with the B737NG & B747-400 PMDG Series Aircraft//********************************************************

    Cheers,Serge

  10. Thanks for the website. I checked it out and it seems to have most of the same Airports that Navigraph offers.
No worries. I believe these files are intended to be used in conjunction with the Navigraph data. They just update/replace the relevant Australian and NZ airport procedures that Navigraph already provide.
One thing I found odd was that in the FIXES section of the Nav Data they have some approach fixes for these RNAV runways but they arn't "built" into the SID/STAR category. I guess i should take those fixes and there coordinates and build them into the SID/STAR section.
To be honest I'm not familiar with the inner workings of these files. Perhaps you could email the guys at Austscene about it.Cheers,Serge

  11. Hi Bryan,I hope you don't mind me jumping in here as I had a similar problem I posted about back in June. Unfortunately I could never get the soft mute to work on my CH Yoke button by assigning it from the FS2Crew Config manager. I found assigning the key Left SHIFT would work but not other keys such as Left CTRL. Although a solution it wasn't ideal as I wanted to assign a button on my Yoke as I fly on Vatsim so I wanted the PTT key for Vatsim to work with the Soft Mute key for FS2Crew.My final solution was to use another piece of software called JOKER. It's a tiny program that is just a single executable. You just need to remember to start Joker when using FSX. To set up the Soft mute to work on my CH Yoke button I needed to do the following.1. In FSCrew Config manager I assign Left Shift for Soft Mute.2. In Joker I assign Button 1 on my CH Yoke to activate Left Shift.3. In FSInn for Vatsim I assign PTT to Button 1 on my CH Yoke.So now when I press button 1 on my CH Yoke it activates the Soft Mute for FS2Crew and activates the PTT button for Vatsim.I hope this information is helpful.Regards,Serge

  12. Hi Uly,I also recently took advantage of this sale at EB to purchase FSX Gold at 50% off. Inside the case I found a loose piece of card with 2 product keys. It was loose inside one of the little booklets if I recall correctly. If you don't have this then I guess the best thing to do would be to go back to EB games and ask for it (with the product for proof of course).Best of luck.Regards,Serge

  13. Those "gear up crash points" should be "scrapes" not floats, unless the developer intends you perform lots of wheels-up water landings. :( Change those class '4' entries to class '2'.
Thanks again Paul for the additional information. There are several existing class 2 entries under the heading "scrapes" in the aircraft.cfg file already. Following these entries are the further 3 class 4 entries under the heading "gear up crash points". The developer may have made an error with these last 3 entries or perhaps he had his reasons. Regardless, I'll modify the file and see what happens.EDIT: I just checked the manual as I recall an entry regarding special effects for gear up landings. In there it mentions that water ditching's can also be practiced with the Duke skimming the water and then floating once it has come to rest. So this must be the reason the Duke has class 4 contact points which then inadvertently causes the flight hours to be recorded as Seaplane hours.Cheers,Serge

  14. Its more likely that the SEAPLANE designation arises out of class 4 or 5 contact points, (float or water rudder),being present in either the aircraft.cfg or .air file. Are there any class 4 or 5 contact points in the aircraft.cfg ?
Hi Paul,It appears you have found the problem. The Realair Duke aircraft.cfg file does indeed have class 4 contact points. The comments next to these entries indicate that they are used for "gear up crash points".It's probably best not to modify these entries so it looks like I'm stuck with the Duke recording Seaplane hours in the Logbook. Thanks for this information.Cheers,Serge

  15. Under the [General] section of the aircraft.cfg file you can edit the atc_type and atc_model.After that the future entries in the logbook for that AC will be what you changed it to.Then you will have to manually edit your logbook file to change the aircraft type entries.
Thanks for the response Dave.I have had a look there. The atc_type is Beech and the atc_model is Duke (I didn't want to copy and paste directly from the aircraft.cfg file as I think it would be against the licensing agreement). The FSX logbook does show this as the correct aircraft however the hours are noted as Seaplane hours.I've attached an image from the FSX logbook utility I downloaded from Avsim. From it you can see that FSX incorrectly notes the Duke as "water" under the aircraft heading whereas the JS41 is correctly noted as a "plane".I'm not going to lose any sleep over this however if there was an easy fix I would certainly be interested.Cheers,Serge

  16. For a while now I have noticed in my FSX logbook that I have been accumulating Seaplane hours however I have not been flying any float or amphibian aircraft. Today I downloaded a FSX Logbook uility from the Avsim library to examine my Logbook and discovered that all my Seaplane hours have come from the Realair Duke B60. For some reason FSX thinks the Duke is an amphibian.I have corresponded with Rob from Realair and he has not come across this anomaly previously.Do any other owners of the Reakair Duke B60 have this issue? Also, does anyone know if there is a cfg file setting or something else that I might be able to edit to fix the problem? Thanks,Serge

  17. It's too bad that you would not fly one of the best FSX addons made just because not many real-world airlines currently fly it. The plane is amazing.
Agreed.Last week I completed a flight in the JS41 from YSCH (Coffs Harbour) to YBBN (Brisbane Int). This is a real world route flown by Brindabella Airlines in JS41's. For this flight I used the PMDG JS41 with the Brindabella livery, FS2Crew for virtual FO and cabin crew, ORBX YSCH & YBBN airports, ORBX FTX terrain textures, REX2 for environment textures and real world weather and finally Ultimate Traffic 2 for real world traffic. It was the most immersive simming experience I have ever had!Other real world routes flown by Brindabella in the JS41 include YSTW (Tamworth) to YBBN and also YPMQ (Port Macquarie) to YBBN via YSCH. All these airports and surrounds along with the overall Australian terrain are beautifully modeled by ORBX. Throw in the other addons I mentioned above and you have flight sim bliss. :(Get it, you won't regret it. Also consider getting FS2Crew for the JS41. It takes this aircraft simulation to another level.Regards,Serge

  18. I don't think my yoke would be classified as 'exotic' as it's just the standard CH yoke. Never had any problems assigning commands to it from any other software. Also I have tried mapping a keyboard key instead (such as Left SHIFT or TAB) but it still doesn't work.Is the "M" symbol supposed to appear in the main display when soft muting or only when hard muting?Cheers,Serge
