wonder what the result would be if they got crews to do it without pre-knowledge. I would guess roughly none...

My thoughts as well. Even without prior knowledge, a pilot knows the simulator is a 'safe' environment. How many pilots would have landed safely, at Teterboro or in the Hudson, given what was at stake. There were no do-over's in the real life scenario if they screwed up.

  2.   There should be an entry in the Scenery Library for the Orbx Libraries. They are not really necessary if you are flying a tube-liner. The libraries are a 3.5Gb file and only contain extra scenery items, like people, trees, static aircraft, etc. found at the Orbx airports. (ie, like those found in their PNW, NCA, and most of the other Orbx add-on scenery's,) Your PNW, NCA, etc., will still work, you just will not see the squirrels running around, and mechanics working on the static aircraft.

The object flow can be disabled in the dll.xml file usually found here for Orbx add-ons.  (C:\users\yourname\Appdata\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\P3Dv3\dll.xml)

If you are not having issues with stutters, then the object flow dll can probably be left alone.

As for the Orbx libraries, it is worth a test flight to see if it makes a difference.

  3. I thought the 125 hz interface completely bypassed Fs Uipc and Fsx so you could leave those settings alone so they work with your other aircraft?

You are correct, ckyliu. You can leave them assigned in the sim. It is easier to test the 125hz setup, with them disabled in the sim. Ie, if he has the wrong variable assigned to one of his axis', it would show up much sooner, with the controls disabled in the sim. He hasn't given any pertinent information on his setup. Aside from his throttles controlling his rudder pedals, everything else, is a guess.

  4.    Having more vas doesn't mean the sim will run any better when loaded up with 4k textures and heavy cloud cover, etc. Look at X-plane and the instances where it can be made to struggle even though it is x64. And there are lots of videos on the tube. Minus the OOM at 4Gb, I doubt XPX would run much better than FSX, if it were loaded up with Orbx scenery, a top flight tube liner, and a working real world weather add on. It would look pretty, but I think XPX would still struggle with blurries and stutters. Why else, do you think LM have been working for the past 3 years on streamlining P3D?

    as always, just my .02c.

  5. The FS Force gauge is a small rectangular window that will only display while the trim switch is being pressed. On a side note,

you should check with the developer for information on using FS Force with PMDG aircraft. ie, autopilot following will only work with aircraft that use the default autopilot. Some users have reported having issues engaging the autopilot on PMDG aircraft.

  6.   I agree with vortex681, FS Force is definitely the better option for ffb inside either FSX or P3D. I have been using it since April.

I am enjoying feeling not just weight of the control surfaces, but also feeling that weight increase/decrease in coordination with the airspeed changing. It is an excellent add on for those with real ffb controllers. (versus something like a game pad)

There will be an optional compatibility mode that will run all existing 32bit add-on in a 64bit address space using new virtual method technology (VMT) developed by LM's work with NASA on the Jupiter probe.

Will it at least be able to trim the crust off my PB&J sandwich? And, cook my eggs over easy with 3 strips of bacon?

(Canadian bacon, of course) NO!!?

That's it! It's time to find a new hobby to support. I'll quit flight simming and take up drinking instead. The tv is always saying how AA is looking for new members.

  8.    If you want wind driven water/waves, you have to turn tessellation on and set the water to the maximum. Oh, and have some wind blowing, of course.

The default textures are the best option for water in P3D v3. In my experience, REX textures wreck the effects that you are after.

Check out this video of P3Dv2.5, by David McClean. This is how my water looks in P3Dv3.35. Note, I do not run my sim at these kind of settings on long haul flights, only low and slow.

ps, jump to the 12:30 mark to start.

  9.     I'm not in a hurry for the P3D version, I mean, we have a new 64 bit sim on arrival from DTG. I am curious to see what that brings. If FSL have to redevelop the A320X for P3D, I would prefer they spend their efforts on programming for x64. X32 seems like such a gamble for FSL, and for simmers, at this point in time. I am well aware, that FSX, FSX-SE, P3D v3, are not going anywhere. My choice, is to focus on the future, whatever that entails.
