  1. Just flown a couple of trial trips around RAF Chivenor ,North Devon me handsome (where I spent six happy years of my RAF career as a Propulsion tech on Hunters} and your preset has made a great difference in the ground colours, cockpit is still a bit dark but I will persevere with the settings. When I figure out how to attach pics will post before and after shots. Nigel
  2. Thanks Adam, will give it a try. Nice pic of 43 Sqdn Hunter Mk F6a over in New Zealand I take it. I've also got JF's Mosquito and Hunter. Regards Nigel
  3. Sorry Adam, another senior moment, I downloaded your adam_pta26_01 and found the recommended values within. Just done a test flight at Chivenor and the effects/colours are much better. Cockpit is a bit dark though, so the P3Dv4 presets seem to be working ok in P3Dv3.4. will try the others, again thanks. Nigel
  4. Hi Adam, Thanks very much but I see that your list of presets are for v4, which one will be OK for my v3.4? Regards Nigel ps:- what do you mean by " check that your HDR settings are set to the recommended values for the new preset. " Where are these recommended settings?
  5. Have just recently acquired the latest version of PTA for P3D v3.4 to enhance the VFR Photographic scenery of the UK as some parts of Scotland are very "washed out" in appearance. I've tried adjusting the saturation settings within P3D to alter this but then have to re-adjust when I fly further south again. Has anyone got an ideal preset or advice on what to adjust in PTA to improve the old FSX VFR Photo series? I've tried downloading any selection of presets offered within the forum but the links always fail. I generally fly GA aircraft such as the A2A Spitfire and similar. Regards Nigel
  6. Hi, Is everything OK with Maarten as he has not responded to any posts since 5th October 17? I sent him a personal e-mail back in January but have had no response. Nigel French

    P3D v4

I take it that there will be a complete new version of SLX when P3D v4 becomes available on 30th. May 2017? Since its 64bit I understand the current version of SLX will not work with it along with FSUIPC4, so I'm afraid I will be staying with P3D v3.4 for the time being until all the bugs are ironed out of it. I love this hobby! Nige
  9. Disregard above thread, have upgraded to v3.4 to cure the problem!
  10. Just recently have noticed that my autogen trees have virtually disappeared over my VFR photoscenery of the UK and France, buildings and other structures are fine. When I reviewed the Prepar3D.cfg I found that this had altered:_ [sCENERY] POP_FREE_AUTOGEN=1 AUTOGEN_BATCH_LOD=2 AUTOGEN_TREE_MAX_DRAW_DISTANCE=1500.000000 AUTOGEN_TREE_MIN_DISTANCE_TO_LOD=0.000000 IMAGE_COMPLEXITY=3 On comparing the Prepar3D.cfg with my backup I found this entered:_ [sCENERY] POP_FREE_AUTOGEN=1 AUTOGEN_BATCH_LOD=2 AUTOGEN_TREE_MAX_DRAW_DISTANCE=9500.000000 AUTOGEN_TREE_MIN_DISTANCE_TO_LOD=2500.000000 IMAGE_COMPLEXITY=3 So I modified the .cfg to read as above, did a test flight and still no autogen trees appeared. on checking the .cfg file again the [sCENERY] entries had changed back to this again:- [sCENERY] POP_FREE_AUTOGEN=1 AUTOGEN_BATCH_LOD=2 AUTOGEN_TREE_MAX_DRAW_DISTANCE=1500.000000 AUTOGEN_TREE_MIN_DISTANCE_TO_LOD=0.000000 IMAGE_COMPLEXITY=3 What is altering my .cfg every time I load a flight?? Using P3D v2.5, VFRPhotoscenery for UK, UK2000 airports, SLX to load, AutogenConfiguratorMerger was installed some months back when I had no trees appearing in VFRFrance scenery installed. 11. Not until I see all the errors/problems disappear that people are reporting on the Forums about v3 will I think about upgrading, besides, I'm quite happy with v2.5 and all my UK photoscenery installed.
  12. Hello, Using P3D v2.5 and flying GA military ( Just Flights Mosquito ) from FRANCEVFR scenery towards Jersey EGJJ and whenever I get around 10 Km from airport ( any direction) I suffer an instant CTD with the following Event Viewer report:- Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-DistributedCOM Date: 16-Aug-16 4:23:51 PM Event ID: 10010 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: NIGEL-PC\Nigel Computer: Nigel-PC Description: The server {BA3D0120-E617-4F66-ADCA-585CC2FB86DB} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. Nigel Just had the following pop up in my AppCrashView:- Process File : Prepar3D.exe Event Name : Stopped working Event Time : 16-Aug-16 4:23:03 PM User Name : All Users Exception Code : 0xc0000005 Exception Offset : 0x00095dc6 Fault Module Name : g3d.dll Fault Module Version: 2.5.12946.0 Process Path : C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Prepar3D.exe Report File Size : 33,096 Report File Path : C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_Prepar3D.exe_2883aa2426a02173f27afb24f8127e60c9746ab_7f746d5a_0014b16c\Report.wer I was under the impression this was a FSX problem and not P3D?
  13. I quite agree with you Kevin, by the way, is your Jersey Photoscenery still being developed or is it now available?Just caught your U-Tube video by accident when surfing and I'm well impressed with what you've done. I have the UK2000 Xtreme airport but on default scenery the island leaves a lot to be desired! Nigel
  14. As an ex-Engineer myself I forgot the old maxim "If you can't fix it, read the manual". I forgot about adding the additional autogen definitions to each scenery folder. Once I'd done that the trees appeared in all their glory within the FRANCEVFR areas. Resolved. Thanks Kevin
  15. Hi Kevin Managed to install the AutogenConfigurationMerger Tool but it hasn't made any difference to my FRANCEVFR scenery! I still have no trees showing in Normandie Upper and Lower and also Bretagne. I've checked the log in the ScenerDesign folder and it shows everything loaded from my Scenery Library with no errors but I've noticed that I have no backups of the original autogendescription files there, so I'll contact Arno for advice. Nigel
  16. Thanks Kevin, you're a gent! I knew there was an answer out there somewhere. I thought I had a Win 10 problem at first because I did'nt seem to have this problem prior to updating to Win 10 so I'll give Arno's Merger Tool a trial and let you know the results.
  17. Just to clarify the above post: I have FRANCEVFR scenery's for Calais, Picardie, Upper and Lower Normandy and Bretagne but when ever I fly to any of these areas one or two areas will not show any trees unless I exchange the AutoDescription, Materials and RoofDescriptions.spbs with the EarthSimulations items within the Autogen folder. I have all the other autogen appearing such as buildings, pylons etc but no trees, if I return back to the UK I get a CTD within 10km of the coastline. Only had this problem since upgrading to Win 10
  18. Hi I'm using P3D v2.5 and since I've updated to Win 10 64bit and flew across to France I found that the trees and veg do not appear, buildings, pylons, towers etc appear but no veg. I fly GA and the UK is fine but found a post in one of the forums that suggested loading FRANCEVFR sceneries with the French option and not the English. I did that and re-installed Upper and Lower Normandie plus Bretagne and everything is fine, veg is back. My question is: What Autogen Description files do I use in the Autogen folder? Each FRANCEVFR scenery comes with its own Description/Autogen files, such as:- Upper Normandie AutogenDescriptions.spd Materials.spd RoofDescriptions.spd 365KB 50KB 102KB Lower Normandie 435KB 51KB 117KB Bretagne Vol 1 370KB 51KB 106KB I'm presently using EearthSimulations Autogen files which are:- 976KB 53KB 125KB Do keep these in my Autogen folder or use one of the FRANCEVFR ones? Computer specs:- Intel i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz Sandy Bridge MSI Z77A-G45 Motherboard 8GB DDR3 Ram ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 500GB Hybrid SSD Hard drive (main), secondary 500GB HDD, third backup 320 GB HDD OCZ 750 watt PSU Regards Nigel
  19. And how do I do that, captain bligh? when I cannot log in to the forum site as it prevaricates with pages turning to French on me and refuses to let me log on or register!! "Bon de sang merde!!"
  20. I don't have Global and or EUlandclass installed just the UK VFR Photo sceneries and MegaSceneryEarth sceneries of Ireland, Belgium and The Netherlands. What I forgot to mention was that I operate P3D v2.6 in my first post, A bit remiss of me! The FRANCEVFR Bretagne Nord Vol 1 was designed for P3D and installed with Estonia Migration tool enabled which I used for the other FRANCEVFR sceneries and they work and the scenery is use, its just getting a bit frustrating that this area of France is not working.
  21. Don't know if this is the correct forum for my question but here goes:- I've just installed FRANCEVFR Bretagne Vol 1 and have an instant CTD every time I fly near the coast/border with this area or load a flight at any of the airports. The scenery appears and then CTD! I already have FRANCEVFR Upper and Lower Normandy, Picardie and Calais installed with no problems. I've checked every possible avenue for corrupt ADE files, traffic files, duplication but can find nothing wrong. Has anyone had trouble with this area? Their own forum site is not helpful as I only get a answer from my queries in French, s'il vous plait! I've tried altering Scenery Library layers - no joy, merde! Computer specs:- Intel i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz Sandy Bridge MSI Z77A-G45 Motherboard 8GB DDR3 Ram MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 500GB Hybrid SSD Hard drive (main), secondary 500GB HDD, third backup 320 GB HDD Windows 7 Home 64bit Any ideas, please? Nige
  22. I concur Christopher, outstanding tribute. I have ShawburyFields as I used to work there with RAF as well as with Marshalls of Cambridge and Serco.
  23. For the flickering textures, its probably an issue called "z-fighting"! If you do a search on the P3D forum there is a thread that explains it all in detail but basically the cure is to add the following line "ClipMode=Normal" within the camera.cfg located where your P3D.cfg is:- [CameraDefinition.002] Title = Virtual Cockpit Guid = {C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078} Description = This is the description of the virtual cockpit view. Origin = Virtual Cockpit MomentumEffect = Yes SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel SnapPbhReturn = False PanPbhAdjust = Swivel PanPbhReturn = False Track = None ShowAxis = YES AllowZoom = TRUE InitialZoom = 0.7 SmoothZoomTime = 2.0 ZoomPanScalar = 1.0 ShowWeather = Yes XyzAdjust = TRUE ShowLensFlare=FALSE Category = Cockpit PitchPanRate=30 HeadingPanRate=75 PanAcceleratorTime=0 HotKeySelect=1 ClipMode=Normal Nigel
  24. The cause of tne g3d.dll freezes were FS9 files converted to FSX and then used in P3d v2.5. Since I have deleted all modified FSX airfields and isolated any .bgl files which probably originated from FS9 I've had no g3d.dll errors or MSVCR100.dll freezes. LM have just issued v2.5.12946 Hotfix 4 which is not compatible with Instant Scenery 3, found this out to my error.
