  1. I have posted the other question and got good replies in the http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=287886 thread.
  2. I had looked at the FAQ for another question previously, but did not find the answer ... So, I was re-amissed not to check it again for this question, but will remember to do so next time :(
  3. Got a neat tip from Kwilson at FlightSim forum below (http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?t=215487)."In the upper right of the DXTBMP screen is box titled mipmaps. If you have ticked the "include when saving" then you are including mipmaps which may make your textures more blurry when you see them from a distance."Excluding the mipmaps when saving did the trick ... it's like putting on correction glasses for me I guess the trade-off in switching off the mips are there are time lags in rendering the textures during flights?
  4. I think the blur is caused by the play of light on the aircraft. In the pic of the right fuselage below, the words "Spirit of Australia" is shiny when against the sun, hence, causing some blur. The pic of the left fuselage shows the same words in a matt colour when not against the light or sun.How can I alleviate these reflections? What's strange is I did not edit this part of the fuselage ... so, what caused this change?
  5. I am a beginner at repainting FSX aircrafts, but have been learning to use Paint.NET 3.5.4. I notice that the textures of my repaints are somewhat blur at close up after my edits. Is this related to how I save the texture files or something else?I use DXTBmp to open/save the texture files before/after editing using Paint.NET.
  6. No there were not ... thanks Art :( I have the taxipaths going under the jetways so the airport vehicles will not interrupt the aircrafts, but it appears the vehicle paths only need to link with one of the aircraft paths to get the fuel truck going. What about getting other airport vehicles (e.g., buses) to travel along the paths ... or are they always static only?
  7. Why does my fuel truck disappear when I call it using Ctrl-F in my AFCAD?I used ADEX to create a network of vehicle (pink) taxipaths and (green) linked them to a (pink) vehicle parking spot where the fuel truck is initially parked. When I call for fuel, I see the truck disappears before me :( Also, is it possible to get vehicle airport objects (e.g., CaterTruck Euro) to move along the taxipaths?
  8. Yes, I imported the _obj.bgl file that contains the object, and then selected the same file to Add Objects in Library Object Manager, but "No useable objects found in this file" was returned. Is there another way to import library object information.
  9. I like the airport lamps (that light up at night) put in some custom AFCAD's like VTBS - see red highlight in pic below. It is an unknown object in ADEX 1.47, and when I tried to copy and paste it to one of my AFCAD's, it does not show up.How and what AFCAD editor do you use to include the lamp in the library objects?Cheers
  10. Thanks Al for your step-by-step instructions on how to use the gradient tool in Photoshop :( I am using Paint.NET which also has a gradient tool, except I don't have to duplicate a new layer or change it to grayscale. On a different note, is it possible to replicate the original aircraft's patterns when using the Paint Bucket? When I use the Paintbucket to replace the colour of an original section, it puts a flat colour and does not maintain the original patterns on the fuselage.
  11. How do you blend or or merge two different colour tones without showing the contrast lines like the image below - see highlighted rectangular.Cheers.
  12. I was afraid this was the case, but thanks for the confirmation.
  13. How do you get the aircraft's engine fan blades to animate accelerated spinning on start up in FSX?Is it dependent on the model or textures - can it be configured?
  14. Yeah, I have done this at the infamous runways, except afterwards the ATC instructs you to descend to another level. I guess I can request to lower the altitudes again, but sometimes when I get too close to the runway, I get distracted by other things to watch out - e.g., speed, flaps, etc.
  15. I have entered the approach into the FS GPS, but ATC still gives out late descend instructions. Moreover, I have seen AI Traffic going into dives on approaches, but they always brake and level in an unrealistic manner :( So, I guess there is no fix for such problems then? Hence, the reason why there are so many FSX addons ...
  16. Is there a good tutorial on how to add/edit FSX flight plans using AI Flight Planner?I have read the PDF, but cannot understand how to add flight plans for an airport that does not exist in the AI traffic file. Also, where does one find actual flight plan data for airlines - e.g., aircraft type, flight No., departure/arrival times, etc?
  17. Why does ATC instruct "last minute" extreme descends (e.g., descend from 15,000 to 2000 feet at less than 10NM from runway) for some airport approaches?Such instructions are common for the following ILS runway approaches (as examples):- 16R at RJAA- 6 at RCTP- 17L at ZSPD
  18. OK, I thought as much as well.I tried creating another layer or creating another texture file for the other wing set, but the model may disregard the new file.I am working on an A330 for FSX, btw.
  19. I am using Paint.Net to paint the aircraft registration beneath the left wing. However, there is only one set of wing textures file, hence, the registration appears under both wings. How can I configure the rego to appear under the left wing only?
  20. OK, I shall give Paint.Net a go. Initially, I couldn't install the latest version because it required Win XP SP3, but I have now found the previous version which has no such requirement.
  21. Is there are a good tutorial that walks thru on how to use Gimp (or another freeware program) to edit FSX aircraft textures? I have read some of the documentation and tutorials on the Gimp website, but find them difficult to follow or do not explain very well for what I need.Specifically, I want to learn how to resize and move images on the fuselage and tail sections. I know how to first open the .bmp or .dds files using DXTBmp before sending the file to an image editor like Gimp, but am at a lost after this step ...In Gimp, I have managed to grow a selected image, but cannot fill the extra new space with the existing colour. I am also struggling to realign the colours and resizing the logo in the tail section.
  22. Thanks for this suggestion. I used ADEX to add a freeway traffic vector, and compiled the AFCAD. Then, I appended the PKXwork.shp file into SBuilderX per your instructions, but only a land class polygon was imported.I also tried to add a freeway traffic line using SBuilderX, and found the land class polygon was not aligned with GoogleSatellite. Anyway, I compiled just the freeway traffic line, and I think the _cvx.bgl created by ADEX was overwritten. I went into FSX and can see the freeway, but there was no traffic?
  23. Hi Scott,I have seen the freeway traffic used in custom AFCAD's that show plenty of road traffic with my custom Scenery configuration. However, when I put the terrain vector of freeway traffic in my AFCAD, there is no road traffic :( How do you configure the populationdensity.bgl file?Cheers, Harry
  24. How do you open/import the AFCAD .ad2 or bgl into SbuilderX?Cheers.
