  1. My apologies. The person who bought it as my Christmas present obviously missed that, as did I. But then, they probably wouldn't have been interested in the section headed "virtual cockpit and external models", since the virtual cockpit was of no interest. I've probably not been aware of the trend away from 2D panels, as my preference is for FS9 over FSX as I've invested so much money in add-ons for that version over the years, so I've had no reason to explore products such as NGX aircraft. All the PMDG aircraft I fly regularly in FS9 have the choice of 2D or VC panel arrangements, and I see them as my benchmark for quality. I promise I'll make a determined effort to convert to VC operations, and apologise for being in such a tetchy mood yesterday!
  2. I've just installed the Majestic Dash 8 - Q400 on my system. (Not an easy process, as I had all sorts of issues and had to uninstall and reinstall FSX to get it working.) Now I find there's no 2D panel view. Apparently, that's standard for the Pilot edition, though not made clear on the Just Flight website until you delve deep into the product reviews. I hate flying with a VC view - too much time and effort spent adjusting the viewpoint, zooming, panning etc. rather than just operating the aircraft. With a 2D panel, most of the switches and gauges are there, ready to be seen and used, and a simple kb shortcut brings up the rest, which I can then send to my other monitor if I want them available. I know the virtual cockpit is supposed to be more realistic, but in the real world I don't have to press keys or operate a mouse to look in a different direction! This is the first add-on I've ever owned where there's no 2D panel as standard. I wonder if they wanted to grab a share of the market and got this software out before it was really finished. Or, more cynically, I wonder if they decided they'd have no 2D panel in the entry-level version so that people like me would be bounced into paying the extra €25 for an upgrade to the Pro version, which has the 2D panel. (Not that it's available yet anyway...) So, just a word of warning to you if you're thinking of getting this!
  3. We have two computers in our house - both running fs9. One is Windows xp 32-bit, the other is Windows 7 64-bit. (I realise that Wilco do not support Win7 64-bit.) When loading the Airbus Evolution series, 9 times out of 10 it will load the aircraft on both systems without crashing fs9, but as soon as we try to import the fs flight plan into the fmc, fs9 crashes to desktop. Anyone else experienced this and found a solution? We can enter the flight plan manually, but would rather not spend the time.
  4. Just to tie up the loose ends - Wilco did give me my money back, but they seemed reluctant. I've since got the Airbus Evolution series, hoping my A380 experience was uncharacteristic. These are much better aircraft when they work, but it's always a bit "touch and go" because I'm on a 64-bit system, which isn't supported by this package. Generally speaking, the A318-A321 are good aircraft, although not to quite the same standard as FeelThere or PMDG software. I can't really judge the A330 or A340, as I've only got them to load once. And all of them crash to desktop at the end of the flight.
  5. I have to disagree with you slightly, having tried the Wilco A380 for FS9. Now that really was rubbish, but I actually managed to get my money back from Wilco. This add-on's just about bearable, but only because I can't find any better Airbus add-ons at the moment.I wish they could also have made it a bit clearer on their website that there's no support for 64-bit users...
  6. I'm on Win 7 64-bit. I can generally use all the A318 to A321, provided I first load another aircraft. I did once manage to load the A340, but every subsequent attempt has failed. When I try to change away from the Airbus (if it's loaded) to another aircraft, or to end the flight, then FS9 crashes to desktop. As far as I'm concerned, this is another disappointing product from Wilco, and their lack of support for 64-bit (which surely is set to become much more commonplace over the next few years) says a lot about their after-sales approach. Don't even get me started on their A380 for FS9....
  7. Since yesterday, I've had a response from Wilco. They have confirmed that the v2 is for FSX and v1 is for FS2004. This is certainly not how it appears on the packaging:"Airbus A380 v2 ... For Flight Simulator X & 2004"Talk about misleading! SimWare, who sold me the package, are no better. They should have made this perfectly clear on their website too.
  8. Thanks Dave. I might try for a refund, as my latest research suggests that, although the package is marketed as A380 v2 for fs9 and fsx, in fact you only get v1 when you install it in fs9. You need fsx for the advertised functions.I only have the trial version of fsx, but I've managed to install v2 into that. I'll have a play tomorrow and see if I can come up with some kind of work-around, but I'm not very optmistic.
  9. I've just bought the Wilco A380 for FS9/FSX, and so far I'm not impressed. I cannot even work through the tutorial flight because the FMC does not behave as described in the manual. I can't access things like the "INIT B" page, enter aircraft weights etc., nor can I select runways for takeoff or landing.I wonder whether this is because the realism setting is set to "Beginner", but I cannot change this because I can't find the Wilco Airbus Config utility anywhere on my computer. (I've looked under the drop-down menus along the top of FS9, and I've also gone to XP Start\All Programs\Wilco Publishing\A380, but all I can find there are four pdf files and the uninstall utility.)I've contacted Wilco, but their advice was: "May I ask you to refer to the manual which states how to get it?" Needless to say, it doesn't....All in all, I'm very disappointed with the package, especially as I thought their E-jets were good (which is why I bought this). It seems that even basic controls such as APU Bleed Air and Autobrake do not work.Any help welcome, before I try to get my money back or swap over the panel from my PSS A340 Pro!Thanks in advance,Matthew
  10. Did anyone find a solution to this? I have exactly the same problem with my FS9 / Windows XP combination.I e-mailed Wilco, and their reply was as follows:"Sir,May I ask you to refer to the manual which states how to get it ?"Sarcastic and unhelpful, I thought!
