  1. Greetings all! Most of the profile the settings in 1.9.7.3 for MS Flight Simulator 10 are different from earlier posts by Ryan. Does anyone have more recent suggested settings? Regards. TERRY GALE UK
  2. Greetings E6BAV8R! Many thanks for putting these together. Regards. TG
  3. After suffering a hard disk failure, the repair shop installed a new hard drive and rescued many of my files and directories. When the computer was returned it had my C:\FSX directory and all the subfolders from various add-ons e.g. LVLD, PMDG and scenery files but the program wouldn't work. I guess that this is because most of the registry files for FSX weren't there? To forestall having to delete the whole of my FSX and do a clean install, I've tried to reinstall it, along with SP1 & 2 and the SDK programs. This has gone OK but now when attempting to start I get a message saying that FSX needs MS DirectX 9.0 and that this is on the Set up disc, or available on the MS website. Well, I've looked and tried to repair again, but I can't find anywhere on the web where there is a specific DirectX 9.0 file to download and install. Am I tilting at windmills or should I cut my loses and just go for a clean install of FSX? TERRY GALE UK
  4. I pleased to report that I seem to have solved the problem, with the help of CH Products, by rolling back to their Control Manager v.4.52. I would suggest that anyone thinking about upgrading their CH CM to v4.55 doesn't unless they have to, especially if everything is working fine! Now to get back to reinstalling all those addons and scenery that I had to uninstall!!!!!
  5. Well, I've uninstalled everything and spent hours reinstalling and on my first flight back into LHR I turned off the AT, and SierraHotel have always had the AP turned off well before landing, and the same thing has happened again!! Thanks Geoff (por930), I'm beginning to think that the CH/Controller interface may be the source of the problem although It does seem a little strange that when I calibrate the Yoke, the throttles move on the grid and seem as though they are working fully. I seem to recall a long time ago that someone said you had to give the throttle a quick increase to unarm the AT but even that doesn't seem to work now.
  6. Thanks for the inputs. I've just stopped messing about with the program and admitted defeat and have uninstalled the whole lot to start afresh! Even after making changes and checking PMDG's FMC setup, FSUICP (which I've never used to calibrate the CH Flight Sim Yoke, and have no others installed), I had the same issues when either loading a previously saved scenario, or loading from scratch. When loading a previously saved flight, and also when loading a scenario using the FSX free flight option, I kept finding that either after starting from C&D, or other situations, that the N1 would increase to 73.2 even though the throttles on my yoke were fully back. Even when in VC, and having pulled the throttles right back and starting up (N1 was indicating about 20), as soon as I moved the Flight Yoke throttle forward a touch, the N1 increased to at least 73 or over. It seems strange to me that when the throttle on the yoke is fully closed, the throttles on the 737NGX are nearly two thirds of the way up the pedestal. In every cockpit I've travelled in (many over 40 years in aviation), when you pull the throttles back, the N1 decreases towards 'tick-over' speed. Perhaps I'm a bit out of date on these newer types? Safe flying everyone. It may be a few day before I'm flying again!
  7. Gentlemen, Many thanks for your input. It's been very frustrating as you can imagine, especially as I've not touched anything under the surface! Perhaps the pixies have been playing on it at night. My grand-daughter perhaps who as a 14 month old seems to have learnt how to use my smartphone! After trawling through various posts I came across one about the PMDG settings available from the FMC and checked to see whether the AT Manual Overide setting had changed. Low and behold is had and having changed it to 'Always'. The only time I've been into these dark parts of the FMC was on set-up so I can't see how this got changed. Well, I did a short flight and had the same problem but suddenly realised that perhaps I had to close down and restart FSX/PMDG. As the hour was getting late, i didn't have further time to check things out but I'll do so later today (UK time). BTW: If you've not read Ryan's post on NVIDIA settings then do so! I've changed mine to his first recommendation and, after having all sorts of problems on my Geoforce 8600 GT, the display has been great. Take care out there! TERRY GALE
  8. I have FSX Sp2 installed with PMDG737-800, 747-400, LDS767 as well. I use CH Flight Yoke (Control Manager v4.55) as my input device. Just recently I found that whilst trying to taxi out the aircraft wouldn't do anything but a 360 turn to the right. I ended and exited from the flight, started again without any problems. I subsquently decided to recalibrate the Yoke but on further flights, whilst I can take-off and generally fly without problems, either after landing (spoilers deploying and autobrake engaging) the throttle go back up to TOGA, or else whilst on short final, with the AT & AP disengaged etc, if I slightly increase the throttle, full GA power kicks in! I have subsequently uninstalled the CH Yoke, restarted the computer, and installed the updated CH Control Manager (see above). I'm still getting the same problem. I started another flight and found that when I tried to taxi out (AT disconnected) that the 800NGX started to taxi at a great rate of knots, which I eventually couldn't control. Does this look like a full FSX, PMDG etc re-install, or can this be cured by a quick fix, or a FSX Repair?
  9. I installed an add-on aircraft to my FSX that uses SID/STAR data in the TXT format, however, an add-on already installed, which has its FMC procedures in the XML format, now doesn't show the XML data on the left hand page of the FMC. The TXT data is still there.I has been suggested that I uninstall both FSX and my add-ons but this is such a pain! Does anyone out there know the inner workings and secrets of the FMC data system, and if so, can they tell me; Why this may have happened? How can I rectify it? Computer OSWIN7 64bitFSX SP2Terry Gale
  10. Having had a look around the forum titles, this seems the most appropriate one to ask my question. Please don't shout at me if it isn't! Does anyone know how to get into the bowls of FSX and alter the distance that ATIS broadcasts are set to appear. In many cases, they seem to be very unrealistic. Many thanks Terry Gale
  11. I didn't realise that someone had posted exactly what I had suggested under another topic heading, but here is my full support for the suggestion being made above. Getting to the fuel cut-off levers, and having a quick look around the throttle area during various phases of flight is just a pain when you're having to juggle between 2D and Virtual panels. I'd also like to see the 'hot-spots' gathered in a more convenient area around the window column. I'm not interested to having an 'absolutely correct' cockpit model and have never found my enjoyment of the PMDG models reduced by having the more prominent panel 'access spots'. Moving away from the B747-400 banner strip was, in my opinion, a development that could have been done without and would welcome it back as an available option. Nevertheless, congratulations to the team on the results of all their hard work and another superb product. Terry Gale
  12. Great product guys and many thanks for the loving devotion you've given to it The results are outstanding! I realise that you're all busy trying to sort out some intial problems, but my first comment would be that I really miss a Throttle quadrant in the drop-down panels for the 2D cockpit. I've only done few flight but starting from Cold and Dark and having to go into the VC panel to add the fuel, is such a pain! Not being able to have a quick look at the rest of the quadrant settings to make sure everything is selected at variious stages of a flight, is the same. Can you all consider adding this again? Whilst I'm also getting used to the Hot Points for access to other panels, having spent many hours on the B747 I really found the panel access banner easy to use. It was a bit of a shame that you didn't stick to a tried formate but I appreciate you're trying to develope the produce. Perhaps you might like to reconsider this as well and have the hot points combined into a more visible and similar system to the B747, but put onto the window column? Regards, TERRY GALE
  13. Like most people who use PMDG aircraft, I can't wait to get my hands on the B737NG!Now to the future, i hear reports of further projects like the Q400 but there seems to be a gapping hole in the FSX market for a business jet like the G4? OK, you do a great job with the J41 but the G4 flies long distances, great performance and can get into small airfields. Please add it to your list guys, or even place it much higher!Regards,TERRY GALE
  14. When flying into a FSX major default airport, I noted that the ATIS was giving a now closed runway as being in use, and AI traffic was landing on it.. This runway is now being used as a taxiway so could someone please give me a quick guide as to how you can change these features in FSX?Many thanksTOP
  15. I had a quick search of the Forums but couldn't find anything relating to my question which is:Is there any way in FSX of increasing the distance from the destination airfield when the landing ATIS becomes available? It seems that nothing comes up until you're about 50nms which is rather late whilst flying a jet into a major terminal. In real life, the ATIS for major airfields can be heard about 100nms away.
