Does FTX Global Replace or enhance Ultimate Terrain X?
Thanks for the feedback..... How do you have the lights chosen (what settings do you have in UTX and in Orbx Central)?

Does FTX Global Replace or enhance Ultimate Terrain X?
I have FTX Global and several ORBX Regions (PNW, Central Rockies, Northern California). I'm sure that UTX adds a lot to the non ORBX regions (I used to use GE and UT together in my FS2004 setup and they were great). I'm wanting to improve the roads, coastlines certain LC areas where I do a lot of my flying in central California (a non-ORBX region) and into northern California (an ORBX region) so I'm leaning to installing UTX into my setup (I know I will need to make some choice between the Orbx lights and UTX lights). How will UTX and the ORBX Northern California region work together (since ORBX regions DO HAVE custom Vector and LC built into them)????? Mike

New FSX computer system being built NOW!
Hi Stan, Well..... did you get your system? I've had mine now since last Saturday and it is up and running great! Since I've only been using my FS2004 WinXP computer up until this one arrived (and hadn't been following the forums, eg. AVSIM, Flightsim, etc., like I used to) I spent much of the previous weeks reading up on Win 7 operation, FSX issues and the sceneries, planes, utilities, etc., to choose. I spoke with Ken at Jetline last Monday before purchasing any new flight related software to install on this new rig. He was VERY helpful. Here is what I've added so far: 1) ORBX - FTX Global Base; FTX Pacific Northwest; FTX NA Gold Northern California; FTX NA Gold Central Rocky Mountains; Packs 1-9 of their (freeware) North American airports **NOTE:(Ken advised me not to add any new mesh and landclass scenery, like FSGenesis and UTX, at this time. He said that I should wait for awhile and then get FTX Global Vector and Open/LC once released (and patched)) 2) ZINERTEK - Zinertek Natural Tree Environment (I researched this one..Ken didn't mention it). It improved on the already great trees in ORBX .... by more closely adding the correct type/and variety of trees in all geographic areas ... and... the fall colors are simply spectacular! 3) REX - REX4 Texture Direct 4) ACTIVE SKY - NEXT 5) ULTIMATE TRAFFIC 2 My next chore is to decide on which add on airports to choose. I will pick from: FlightBeam; FSDT; FlyTampa; Imaginesim.... Do you (or any other readers out there) have any additional suggestions for scenery, airports, planes, utilities? Mike

Caught in a repeatiing "Microsoft Flight Simulator @ - Security Warning" loop
Thanks Jim... I was one of the long term holdouts from porting over to FSX from FS 2004 since I had that computer and software tweaked to (at that time) perfection. I'm loving this new setup from Greg and Ken at Jet Line. I've been doing the flight sim stuff since FS 4.0 in the late 1980's and have progressively updated my hardware to keep up with the newest version of the software. I'm a 64 years "young" retired Naval Officer and retired Pediatric Dentist (since 2001). In 2011 I earned my private pilot's license and fly a C172SP (steam gauges) and C172SP G1000 from an FBO in San Luis Obispo, CA (along the Central CA coast midway between LA and SF. Please advise how to find my profile so that I may enter that info that you mentioned. ~ best, Mike Thanks Ron..... Mike

Caught in a repeatiing "Microsoft Flight Simulator @ - Security Warning" loop
To all: PROBLEM SOLVED (YEA!!!) The looping of the security warning screens actually was what should have happened. I started to notice that each time I clicked on the first screen it was showing a new GAU number under "NAME." So... I just kept on doing this clicking and finally the screens stopped popping up and the Citation X appeared in my flight in place of the previous aircraft. Apparently, there are a large number of GAU files associated with that Citation X that needed to be "Trusted." I want to thank you all for trying to help me with this pesky problem. The answer was right in front of me in my initial posting here when I mentioned the discrepancy between the GAU 11 and GAU 12 on both screens. Lessons learned!!!!! Mike

Caught in a repeatiing "Microsoft Flight Simulator @ - Security Warning" loop
So.... how do I uninstall the program (for the Citation X plane) since it doesn't show up in the programs folder .... so that I can reinstall it as you've advised?

Caught in a repeatiing "Microsoft Flight Simulator @ - Security Warning" loop
Did some checking in control panel and I AM showing as the "Administrator." Just went to the installation program for the Cit X and right clicked and chose "Run as Administrator." However, the screen that pops up (the Eaglesoft Development Group Citation X 1.0 FSX Install Program) doesn't give me the option to repair or remove. Only shows "Next" or "Exit." Pushing next brings up the license screen prompting me to "agree." The next screen shows the installation path....and the last screen prompts me to "start" the install.

Good morning to you too: I had checked that yesterday when I first started to have this problem. There is no entry showing Eaglesoft in the "Programs and Features" setting under "Uninstall or change a program" Also in post #9 above Jim is telling me that the problem isn't with the Citation X plane (so he implies that removing the plane isn't the thing to do). Caught in a repeatiing "Microsoft Flight Simulator @ - Security Warning" loop
Good morning Jim, UAC was set to off, as was Windows defender, etc., by the folks at Jetline Systems before they even sent me the new computer. I also knew about the need to do these things and checked those settings as soon as I received the computer. Concerning your comment (above) about "Just click okay and continue on" ....when I first got that security message I did click "Run" in the first screen and "YES" (ok to load this software). That is when the loop started where these two screens just keep popping back up.

I've also searched for "how to uninstall aircraft from fsx" thinking that removing the Citation X and re-installing it may help. There is no uninstall program in the Eaglesoft folder. Some have said to just remove that Citation X folder from FSX (but cautioned that the install may have placed other files elsewhere in FSX)

I'm searching for the fsx.exe file. Can you help me find it?

Caught in a repeatiing "Microsoft Flight Simulator @ - Security Warning" loop
I didn't install FSX. The folks at Jetline Systems installed it as they've done for most of their customers. They know all of the things to tweak during FSX installation and what Win 7 programs to disable, eg. UAC, etc. I assume that I am "admin." Please explain how I check this, and how to proceed.

Caught in a repeatiing "Microsoft Flight Simulator @ - Security Warning" loop
Good evening to all: Today I've added scenery, texture, weather generating, and traffic programs (ORBX FTX GLOBAL, FTX PNW, etc., REX4 Texture Direct, Active Sky Next and Ultimate Traffic 2) to my new Jetline Computer running Win7 64.. All installs have gone smoothly, and I've started FSX and flown a bit after I loaded each program. It was super! Then.... I installed the FSX version of Eaglesoft Citation X 750 and it seemed to install fine to the proper folder in FSX and the plane does show up in the aircraft selection window. Here is the problem: When I try to select any of the 4 versions of that plane a small window pops up saying "Microsoft Flight Simulator - Security . The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software? NAME: cxcaws11.GAU PUBLISHER: Unknown publisher. "This file does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its publisher. You should only run software from a publisher that you trust" I then have the choice to RUN or DON'T RUN. When I click on either of these buttons another small window opens and the first window closes. The new window says, "Would you like to designate this module (C:\Program files (x86) \ Microsoft...\ cxcaws12.GAU) as "Trusted" software? Select YES to automatically load this software whenever you start Flight Simulator. Select NO to load this software for this session only." Regardless which button (YES or NO) I choose, this window goes away and the first window opens again with the previous message. If I click on either the RUN or DON'T RUN the second window reopens. It is an endless repeating loop! (notice also that in the first window it shows the gauge as "cxcaws11.GAU" and in the second window it shows the gauge as "cxcaws12.GAU) Bottom line >>>> WHAT CAN / SHOULD I DO TO FIX THIS ISSUE?\ Thanks in advance for your help on this. New FSX computer system being built NOW!
Hi Stan, Spoke with Greg (at Jetline) yesterday and my computer is on the way and should arrive on Saturday (yea!). Thanks for the input from you (and others) about how you tend to backup. Lots of good ideas. One thing I recently purchased is a uninterrupted power supply (UPS) for my new computer and peripherals. I mentioned that to Greg yesterday and he told me that was the, "...right thing to do." I never had one before in all the years I've been doing this and did suffer a few outages but fortunately no damage to any components. I had done some reading (once I ordered this computer), specifically about how power outages can wreak havoc to SSDs and decided to make the purchase. See: http://www.extremetech.com/computing/169124-the-mysteriously-disappearing-drive-are-power-outages-killing-your-ssds Hope this info is beneficial to you. Mike

New FSX computer system being built NOW!
Hi Bob, I appreciate your feedback. You sound like me (very detail oriented and organized). Essentially I create similar folders for the downloads, software key's etc. Acronis (and others... they all cost about $50 for the software) allow you to "clone" your hard drive (making an exact copy... so the operating system, all software, drivers, registry, etc) is on the backup.) Of course one wants to back it up on a drive that doesn't live on that computer system... for obvious reasons. Should that computer system crash for any reason (hardware or software issues), it is a pretty simple matter to get it back up and working again. In fact, I had to do just that a few years ago on my current system... and Acronis was a lifesaver for me. As I said earlier, the newest version of Acronis is causing some issues on some peoples' computers ... so I am not eager to buy that version. I did some more research and found a backup software called ShadowProtect Desktop 5 that received an outstanding review and top back up program at PC Magazine http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2424313,00.asp In fact, a few moments ago I just got done speaking with one of the company's reps (at Stoarage Craft in Utah). I told him about my system and exactly what I want the product to do (easily and reliably). He said that will not be a problem for this software. The only downside is that their Desktop 5 (home user version) is more expensive than most of the other backup software out there (the regular version is primarily used in a small business environment). I will probably purchase and download it once my new computer gets here.....unless.... I hear back from some other people that have better suggestions. Mike

New FSX computer system being built NOW!
Good morning Stan (and others), Like you, I'm currently having Jetline build me a very similar system ... anticipating delivery next week (yea!). Greg has been a big help ... we've spoken at length about my current system and desire to be able to port over my hardware (multiple GoFlight units, TrackIR, Yoke/Pedal/Throttles, etc) into the new system. This is a big leap for me as I was one of the FS2004 die hard users who had much time, effort, multiple software addons (and money) invested in my smoothly running system in WinXP. I finally decided to take the next step into a smooth running FSX system! My current plan is to backup this new computer immediately to an external hard drive after I receive it (ensuring that Greg and Ken's finely tuned Win7 64 and FSX Gold setup is saved before I add any additional software). I then plan to do incremental backups (probably on a monthly basis). This backup routine was something that served me well for my FS2004 / WinXP computer. I was using an earlier version of ACRONIS True Image software to do that I was planning to get a new version of ACRONIS but yesterday found numerous articles citing current problems with the newest version of that software.... so I decided to look for something else. So this is my question to Stan and others: Do you regularly backup your flight simulation computer and if so, what have you found to be the best software to do it? (Obviously we simmers don't want anything running in the background stealing resources while we are flying) Thanks in advance for your help on this. Mike Paso Robles, CA CDR, USN ret (and current real world C172 driver)

Been away from the forums for way too long! Glad to finally get back here.
GM to all: I got an email yesterday from AVSIM advising me that I haven't used the forums for a very long time.... true. It advised me that I'd be put in an inactive status. I couldn't let that happen. I needed to post something in the forums, so I decided to post the following "Help" message for anyone thinking about becoming a real pilot. I started following AVSIM many years ago when it was first launched and was an avid reader (and sometimes poster as needed) as I continued to upgrade my software and hardware to be able to keep up with each iteration of MSFS. Once I had FS9 tweaked to (almost) perfection with beautiful add on scenery and planes, acquired multiple flat screen monitors (4), TrackIR, GoFlight modules (9 of them), CH yoke, throttle quadrant and pedals, I thought that was it..... I thought I was set. I resisted the urge to switch to FSX for many reasons, which I won't review here. Then I became bitten by the bug (something I've wanted to do since age 7)..... the urge to do it all FOR REAL..... to earn a Private Pilot Certification. So, this retired Navy Commander (as of 2001), retired Pediatric Dentist, age 60 (and still young at heart) flight simmer began flight training at KSBP in the central coast of California in May 2010 via "Pigs Can Fly" FBO. My many years with this hobby (I started MSFS back in 1989) sure helped me. Training was demanding... but I studied a lot.... continued to supplement my actual flying (Cessna 172SP) by getting on my simulator usually after each lesson and certainly before going on each cross-country flight. Flying my upcoming planned route and getting familiar with the visuals (on the sim) proved very valuable. Finally, after many months of lessons and diligent studying I took the written test (and got 100%... I was lucky). After I flew my long solo cross-country flight from KSBP to KSNS to KBFL to KSBP (over 420 miles ... and a total of 5 hours alone with N5173V) I was ready to take my checkride. In March of 2011 I passed it and earned my certification... at last! I'm now approaching 120 hours in my logbook. Flight simulation is a wonderful hobby... it has surely helped me a lot! I continue to use my setup many times each week, especially since I can't fly for real too often due to the expense (100LL aviation fuel cost is through the roof) The new look of AVSIM appears great ... way to go! (I'm now trying to find my way around the site and in these forums... but I'll figure it out). If anyone desires to learn more about what is involved with training for a Private Pilot Certificate (and what I went through) I'd be eager to pass along my thoughts. You can email me at: [email protected] It is very good to be back here again after being away far too long! Mike
