  1. Evening, So while I wait patiently for updated installers and patches for the Airbus Extended, RealAir products, the A2A line-up, and one day, PMDG, I started looking at terrain. I have Global installed for P3D 2 and I own FSGenesis. Will FSGenesis work in P3D? Is there a recommended installation procedure? I miss the detail in elevation. If I am fortunate enough to have Global for Landclass, Genesis for Mesh, then all I need is something for Vector. The Iceland demo looks very promising for FTX GLOBAL VECTOR due out in mid-December. Is the general consensus of the forum to hold out until then or is there another reputable Vector product for P3D? And while I'm eating my salad and thinking of all things P3D-transition, what about Carenado aircraft and Air Hauler? Any luck or guidance on those two products in P3D? I think that's a total of four questions. My apologies. The Army is sending me to Haiti for a week so I'm hoping to have answers by next weekend so I can invest sometime enjoying this great new simulation. Thanks Guys, Stephen
  2. Good to hear. So awesome to have prompt and dedicated support again for a flight simulation product.
  3. Morning Guys, What a great new flight sim we have. One question: I believe my autogen is initially materializing on the edge of my visible world as white dots. They fill in as you get closer but really stand out at a distance. They were so obvious I thought they may be Vector Lights for FTX Global being seen during daylight hours but I disabled the Vector Lights option and the phenomenon was still there. I've included three pics from an early morning flight around New Orleans. The new lighting and shadows really add to the immersion. Anyways, I'd love to know if anyone else is getting the same. Perhaps I'm just being picky but a solution or explanation would be greatly appreciated. Stephen
  4. Bill, Thank you for a speedy and detailed response. No further questions. This is precisely why I enjoy the AVSIM forum.
  5. Morning, 1. Assuming the servers support the rush of buyers, this will be a 30GB download? If that is the case, is there a good download manager that the forum recommends? Even better, a free one? 2. If I simply want to ensure that I have the same options, capabilities, and features I presently enjoy in FSX, do I need to purchase the Professional Version of Prepar3D? I typically use complex aircraft under realistic conditons, weather and ATC environments. This is NOT a EULA question, but a capabilities-based question. If this is not a permissible quesiton, please just ignore. I searched the forums but surprisingly couldnt find a respectable answer. Thanks for any feedback, looks like a product to get excited about. Stephen
  6. So I took the forum's great advice and bought this outstanding planner. However, quick question. How / when does PFPX select the preferred or optimum runway based on weather conditions? I have the weather option turned on and I understand how PFPX planning works. However, at what point does the "automatic selection" occur? Is it when I first enter the airport identifier into the route planner, ie. the first runway option displayed is the preferred one? Greatly appreciated if someone could point it out. Stephen
  7. Quick question before I drop $70 Do I need PFPX? I enjoy flying complex airliners but I have FSC9, Vroute, and ForeFlight on the Ipad. Is there a benefit still to purchasing PFPX? Thanks in advance. Stephen
  8. OKAY OKAY! What am I missing with this PFPX? Im using a combination of FlightAware of Flight Sim Commander 9.4 and seem to have no problem generating my required flight plans with all the appropriate fuel, weather, SIDS, STARS, and approaches. Takes a few minutes but works great. What does PFPX offer that it different than the above solution? If you can sell me on it, Im all in. Stephen
  9. Afternoon, After a week at lovely Fort Benning I'm looking forward to getting home to some flight time with the PMDG T7. Angle of Attack is really pushing the new PFP-X product from the makers of the TOMCAT software and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using it yet. Seems fairly expensive without a chart service and I already have FSC9 for planning. Anyone have an opinion of this product yet? I use ForeFlight for my GA flying and flight planning but was wondering if I need to upgrade to PFP-X for my tube flying and long hauling - airliner flights. Stephen
  10. Great feedback. I'm going to try some of the suggested tests at lunch and see what comes of it. I sure do hate watch those FPS when I reach for that mouse. I actually havent found an aircraft yet that doesnt display this phenomenon. Stephen
  11. Naif, so I'm not the only one huh? No permanent solution then? JimmiG, Im busy doing Army things right now but I do think you might be right, that if I wait ten seconds or so, the FPS changes. Mouse cursor?? Really? Geez. I'll have to check. There has to be a way capitalize on this.
  12. Afternoon from New Orleans One of you genious simmers has to be able to help me with this. Last night I'm toying with FSX while waiting for the 777 to download. Im running it windowed mode so I can run all the outside programs FSX pilots love to benefit from and suddenly it dawns on me that everytime my mouse brings up my Windows 7 Task Bar (auto-hid) at the bottom of the screen, my in game FPS jump 10-15 FPS!! My NGX 700 on a stormy busy day at KMSY went from 22 on the active runway to a steady 34-36 FPS?? At the disgust of my wife who was waiting on me to watch something lame and non-aviation related, i dug into the discovery. Regardless of any in game setting, condition, or aircraft the result is the same. Touch the Windows Task Bar = 10-15 FPS gain. Move mouse away = 10-15 FPS gain goes nearly immediately away. My processor isnt ramping up, and neither is my GPU. No matter what I do with that cotton pickin task bar (Lock, Auto-Hide, etc.) I can't get the boost in FPS to remain so long as I'm having to use my mouse in the cockpit. A google search came up with several other people referring to the phenomenon as far back as 2010 but most called it a "noted bug" without any suggestions on how to maintain the improvement. Please Help. This means the difference between playing with AI traffic, and greater autogen, etc. and having to play with the bare minimum.
  13. Afternoon, Quick question. What is the preferred precision approach method for the NGX? ILS CAT II/III or RNP (GPS)? Can the NGX perform a LAND 3 AUTOLAND on a strictly GPS approach or does it require ILS for the dual channel capability? Trying to choose wisely.
  14. Fellow Pilots, Morning. So my new love (this week at least) is AirHauler flying in the PNW with some small GA aircraft. Ive been using the ForeFlight App for the iPad for flight planning, weather, fuel estimates, etc and I am running REX as my weather engine. Im having a few issues getting my depicted in-game weather to match what I planned for based on current METAR, TAFs, and Winds Aloft data. What is the best REX configuration to get accurate weather prediction without "pop-in" weather changes? I realize that there is probably no perfect solution but I'll take a happy medium. Is there a better weather engine for this type of flying? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Stephen
  15. Morning :( , In a desperate plea for help, I'm turning to the experts here. For some apparent unknown reason, FSX has stopped recognizing the programmable buttons on my mouse. I have a Logitech MX600 Wireless Gamer Mouse and used the Logitech SetPoint 6.1 software to program several keys into the accessory buttons on the mouse. All of these have since suddenly stopped working. I can call up Notepad in the middle of flying and the programmed keys work perfectly. Furthermore, I can use the programmable keys in ARMA II, Civ, Fallout, LOMAC, etc. Only FSX refuses to recognize them. To complicate things further, I ran to Best Buy and bought a RazorFish programmable wireless mouse and the same phenomenon was still present :( . Next I removed my Logitech G940 and the related software and still no change. For the past year, the mouse and FSX have worked flawlessly together. I'm a pretty competent computer guy but three hours of trouble shooting and I can't for the life of me figure this one out. I depend on the mouse to manipulate FSX particularly when I'm studying for my Masters while on long flights. ANY SUGGESTIONS would be greatly appreciated.
