  1. I honestly dont know if there is any $$ given to MS to have program run on its OS (win 7, etc) but the way I was thinking of FSX or any MS Flight sim is as it were just like a console (xbox, ps3, etc), it is their property and 3rd party developers are making money using said property... Kinda the way I went at it and from what it sounds like its also the way MS sees it now... Too bad it's prbly too littly too late for them... on other news, Aerosoft announced full support of XP10. I'm very excited to see that platform really make some progress this and in the coming years!I also was looking to buy that aerofly FS but can't seem to find it in their US store... anyone provide link?, thx
  2. This kind of thinking is what will hinder any future success in this genre!Guys that might be how construction and other types of business works but you have to realize MS is also in the console business where they get royalties from EVERYTHING that comes and goes through the xbox. Sony is the same with ps3, Nintendo, etc... even STEAM gets royalties obviously for products sold but also on DLC for products offered. Welcome to the age of software entertainment... it's not the same as your basement!
  3. I kinda see the point the OP is trying to get at...and in a way sort of make sense but it's a double edged sword. I'm pretty sure if devs had to pay MS some type of royalties for FSX, it prbly wouldn't be around today.... At the same time if devs had been paying royalties to MS then we'd prbly have a new full fledged flight sim by now but with less addons... Idk which side to take because I can understand both of them...There's + and - to both sides but now that I think about it I would rather have the latter and at this time be exeriencing the beta of a new full fledged flight sim. I personally would rather have a new flight sim every 4-5 years and new addons to boot with it! I think the problem lies with the community (as i've stated in a prev thread) and it's unwillingness to move on to new things. When fsx came out there was a huge uproar against fsx as in it's too early for a new sim and other BS that people that are part of this community post. I am not at all surprised MS is trying to break itself off from this community, can't seem to please you guys either way. If they bring a new game out it's why why why too soon I'm sticking with current fs, if they dont bring one out its waa waaa waa QQ MS is stupid for not continuing fs. It's a LOSE LOSE for MS either way with this community. What you guys need to realize is if you don't partner with MS in order to share profits then forget MSFS all together because it will become completey extinct!
  4. Wow, people were ready to lynch this guy yet he was DEAD ON! Amazing!
  5. Once again, sorry for my previous rant. I will give fsx one more shot before I give up completely on flight simming in general. Without turning this thread into a how to or help me can you pm me some sites that I can use to give this a fair try? My current specs are as follows... 2600k @ 4.6, 3x gtx 580s, win 7 64 bit, 2x 150gb ssd raid 0.... my fps should be great but last time I fired it up was same old BS over and over with huge dips into the teens at default ksea, let alone any addons.... see my frustration? I'm ready for a new sim... lol, just needs to get here!
  6. I might be in the minority here but this: "As for Orbx FSX will remain our core platform for at least 5-10 years" as stated by the OP is super sad for me... I mean c'mon, what a slap in the face! and then /facepalm.There will never be any advances in this damn genre because Microsoft is stupid; Single developers too small to fund own sim; XPX Plane systems too simple... Are we serious here? Us simmers really have no where to turn? I wont be paying $500 for fsx 2.0! Maybe after I see the changes that dx11 will bring I will look into the $10/month thing. I feel like I'm at a dead end here. I haven't fired up FSX for prbly a year now, I have PNW by orbx and it's great but my fps is ###### and so I don't use it... I don't want to bash anything/anyone because I have lots of products for my fsx but I'm done and done with that sim, ready to move on but nowhere to go...Then I come on hear and read developers are preparing to stick to fsx and pr3d?!?!? I just wanna /wrist for ever joining this whole sim community thing!Boy oh boy am I ranting but I have never been so displeased or disapointed by a game/genre in my life! What a fail of a damn genre.... yuck! I apologize if it doesn't make sense to any of you... I'll shut up now and go back in my corner....side not: Aerosoft working on flight sim..... gonna go see if there's any updates...
  7. Wow, thank you for your reply. I actually read back a couple of pages and copied and pasted one of your .ini files you posted for someone else. When I did that the qualitly was even worse. I'm going to read your description vary carefully and report back.. Thanks again!
  8. Yes it does, i tried it and works brilliantly!
  9. C'mon... lol 13 views and no one knows? btw anyone know if this mod works good with the enb series hdr effect?
  10. Hello all!Ok, I just wrote a huge post begging for help and something happend and it was all erased... lol, so i'll make this quickspecs:i7 980x @ 4.5ghz12gig ram300 gig ssd3x gtx 28550mbit connectionk, used the quick setup tutorial guide http://www.edtruthan.com/tileproxy/tutorial/ and used the proxyuser.ini file in there to set me up. got everything working and all is well, except the texture resolutions are pretty low. here is my proxyuser.ini exactly:## Start a line with # to comment it out.# Turn your text editor's Word Wrapping OFF for editing this document.## Read the manual for help with configuration.
