  1. Thanks for the responses. I have some free time this weekend and I'll give it a try.Jim KGreenville NC
  2. I am curious if any one has ever used Ideal Flight along with RC4. I haven't had a chance to run both programs at the same time yet and not sure if the two would work together. I was wondering if any one has run Ideal Flight along with RC4 and experienced any issuesJim KGreenville NC
  3. Please forgive my ignorance. But I noticed in the last post about a version update to 4.754 for RC. I have looked every place I can think of and have yet to find it. Can someone please tell me where the link to get the latest update is.I appreciate anyones help regardind this.Jim KiefferGreenville NCNever mind, re-read the post and realize it is for FSUIPC. I know where that is.Never mind, re-read the post and realize it is for FSUIPC. I know where that is.
  4. I purchased AS 2012 last night and installed it. Part of the installation process was to run X Guage. From my understanding, X Guage went through and updateed all the panels on the aircraft that I currently have on my PC. I have several more payware aircraft I haven't loaded to FSX. When I install them, do I need to go back through and run X Guage again to update the panels on those aircraft? What can I expect if I don't run X Guage after install on a new aircraft. Will AS 2012 still perform and i just won't have a map panel when flying that aircraft?
  5. Thanks, I was palying with the new REX program and i think I'll try stting the Themes using REX, keep it's engine off then open ASE for the weather engine, put a flight plan and give it a try. I'll worry about creating snapshots later as it seems to be a very time consuming process in both programs. Right now I just want to have a chance to experience something better than the default graphics provided by FSX.Thanks for your help with regards to this. I have a much better understanding of the overall process.Jim KiefferGreenville NC
  6. What I'm failing to understand is how do I do the snapshot while in ASE. I found a few more post regarding running REX and changing the scenery within FSX. i.e. run a route setup in REX, save and when you start FSX the graphics will be there. It's in ASE that I am confused. Do I run Rex, save the data, close REX, start ASE then what? How do I do the snapshot in ASE?Jim KiefferGreenville NC
  7. I have ASE and recently purchased REX 2.0 simply because it was half price. Now reading up on REX, I can use it without starting the Weather component. Rex will load specific themes based on my input and place them in FSX scenery. My question is, how do I get the upgraded textures from REX to ASE. I know we've talked about Snapshots. Do I first start FSX and while I'm flying press the ALt + Prnt Screen. How does one save snapshots while still in ASE? I'm still not grasping the whole snapshot and theme thing between REX and ASE? Anyone that could provide help, I sure would appreciate it.Jim KiefferGreenville NC
  8. I have ASE and haven't quite figured how it all works. What are themes? Do I need to set them up? Basically all I've done is loaded ASE and run it straight the way it installed. Am I loosing out but not setting up themes? I was thinking about either purchasing X Graphics or REX to augment the textures. Do I need to make significant adjustments if I choose to add either of those programs. I feel like such an idiot when it comes to using ASE, especially when I see youtube videos or screen shots made by others. Is there anywhere that I can find documentation that will give a step by step explaination of how to use ASE, Themes and setting up addons to ASE. Any help someone can provide would greatly be appreciated.Happy HolidaysJim KiefferGreenville NC
  9. Is Active Sky 2012 the complete package, Wx and Graphics? Will this negate the need to have ASE and another graphics program (i.e. REX) to get the complete feel? Will current ASE owners have to update with full price purchase or will we see a bridge over cost from current ASE to Active Sky 2012Jim KiefferGreenville, NC
  10. Just felt this needed to be said. I recently had a crash on my desktop system. Needless to say all the long hours of getting FSX and all my addons set up where I was happy, they where gone in a flash!! (Stupid Computer) Anyways I spent the last three days returning my system to an operational status. However, when I went to reload RCv4, I was presented a registration error. The key I was sent was the key I attempted to use to reinstall RCv4. Unfortunately it would not accept my Key. Don't know why it wasn't accepted? I fired an email off to Jdtllc with regards to my dilemma on Sunday night. This afternoon I received a response with a new key and had RCv4 up and running in no time at all. I really want to thank them for responding so quickly to my email and correcting my problem. I knew I made a good choice when I bought Radar Contact. Now I know I made a Great choice. Not many companies respond so quickly to our problems and it is always a joy to have one that is as concerned about it customers as the people at Radar Contact. Thank You, Thank YouSincerelyJames KiefferGreenville NC
  11. I've always been curious about this and wonder if someone can answer my question. I run Windows 7 64 bit and have several programs that run in background, i.e. Norton Systemworks, Webroot, plus sundry other programs like Western Digital add on drive and Printer software. Each of these programs has a process that runs in background, you can see them by pulling up Task Manager and looking under the processes tab. When I go to fly FSX, I always stop Norton Antivirus, Firewall and Webroot. I've never tried going into Task Manager and stopping processes as I'm afraid I may stop a process that is citical and needs to be running in order to keep Win from crashing. Does anyone know what processes need to be running? Is there a way to start up Windows clean so I can run FSX with only the necessary processes? If anyone has any recommendations I would love to hear them. As it is right now I get adequate frame rates and have an enjoyable experience when flying FSX, but any improvements I can make to system performance is always better. Thanks for your responses.Jim K, Greenville NC
  12. I purchased ASE for my FSX program and love it, what I am questioning is whether I should purchase REX to improve upon the weather simulation within FSX. As I understand it, ASE only uses the weather graphics (ie clouds) that are built into the FSX weather generator. I have seen youtube videos where others have added REX and the cloud rendering is phenominal. How do the two interact. I understand the REX is it's own weather generator and I don't need that since I have ASE, but I also know there is a function to turn off weather generation and utilize the graphics only from REX to augment FSX and ASE.I have been using FSX since its early days, but it is only recently that I have ventured into addons such as FSUIPC, IF, ASE and payware aircraft. So I consider myself rather inept at trying to gain the best weather generation that I can. I would appreciate it if some of the seasoned Flight Simmers could help me tweak my use of the current ASE program and let me know wheather it is worth the investment in REX or some other program to enhance how weather looks in FSX.I have a I3 CPU with a GT250 graphics card along with 4 GB of Ram, my system seems to handle everything I have asked it to date. I really would love to increase the look of clouds and thunderstorms being generated when flying.I appreciate any and all help that can be provided.J KiefferGreenville NC
  13. I've done a search for an answer to my question, but the returns are numerous and don't really answer my question. Is there any significant difference between Flight 1's Ultimate Terrain X - USA Edition and Ground Environment X - North American. It seems both products do basically the same thing. So is one more efficient than the other, are graphics of one product better than the other. Hopefully someone can give me the straight skinney on this. I'd prefer to purchase only one addon that will give me the best return on my investment. I appreciate anyones response to my question.Jim K. Greenville,NC
  14. Thanks for the responces, I think I won't worry about the effects seeing as it is not a simple fix. With my luck it would affect frame rates anyways.
  15. For as long as I have been flying FSX, whenever it rains I have never seen rain on my windscreen like I have on YouTube. you know rain droplets difting up the screen as you fly. What am i missing, is there a setting I haven't got set high enough, or is it an add on I haven't come across yet. Can anyone provide me information regarding this.Jim K, Greenville, NC
