  1. If I may add my "two cents worth" - I also run fs9 in a windows 7 64 bit environment. I am presently using a Visiontek ati radeon hd4670 x2 quad card which allows me to plug four monitors directly to the card. I use four acer 23" wide screens. If you operate fs9 in the "windows" mode, you can easily open as many windows as your system can handle and move them accordingly. I use 2 windows in each of the side monitors and a single window for the VC cockpit and another single window for the selected panels (radio stack, GPS, etc.). If I run into any problem at all, it is usually caused by my not paying attention to which window is active at any given time. You can even open multiple VC cockpit windows, move them accordingly and adjust the view in each "on the fly" by moving your cursor into eacn monitor, clicking in the window to make that window active and then using your hat switch to move that particular view. I agree with January, it is relatively easy to adjust the visuals in each window so that you are not too distracted. If you will set your system up in this fashion, it is really not necessary to employ any additional software. Finally dwardlow, relax my friend. All of us here are just enjoying a great hobby and trying to help each other in the process. Some are just a little more exuberant than others. All of us mean well, want only to try to answer your questions and help you enjoy your flying experience. I've got a couple of years on you so trust me. OK?John Henderson
  2. Hi Chuck,Thanks for the kind welcome. I am quite excited about my "new arrival". I also really appreciate the Eaglesoft team and their willingness to assist. Hope you have a wonderful Holiday! John
  3. Thanks again, Ron. Following your advice, I have amended my order. I am expecting a sparkling new CJ1 to arrive. She won't be "orphaned" for long, I'll tell you. Charlene is already mulling over a list of suitable names - - - I just fly em, Buddy - - - she's in charge of naming them! I do believe its possible she is more excited than I am. You can't believe how much flak I have taken over the years when it comes time to pack and load the little SF260 and head out on vacation! Just between you and me, I've gotten just a tad bit worried - - just the other day I overheard her pacing in the kitchen muttering something about a C-130. Now that's serious. Thanks again for your very kind assistance! John
  4. Hi Ron,That does it then! A brand, spanking new Eaglesoft PI is scheduled to be delivered to KCAE's Eagle Aviation main hanger here in Columbia, SC in the VERY near future! I'm so excited I can barely stand it. With my next regular certification right around the corner, it really isn't a good idea for a old man's heartrate to be this high but, with a present of this magnitude how would it be otherwise? I must share one other thing with you. My wife, Charlene has made me promise to keep my old eighth army aircorp leather flying cap in the drawer ( I usually don it when patroling in my Spit). She claims she knew up front she had married an idiot - - however, she says she definately will not tolerate an unsightly one! ( humph! I guess beauty continues to reside in the eye of the beholder! ) Thanks again. We both hope and pray that you and your family will rest peacefully this holiday and that the new year will bring much promise and contentment to you all. John
  5. HI Ron,Thank you very much for the advice. It has been taken to heart. I appreciate hearing from you. By the way, while I have you, what would your recommendation be regarding your portfolio of products? I must say I am a little intimidated by your Citation X offerings. They both appear to be much more aircraft than I am presently comfortable with. I have been looking very closely at both your Raytheon Premier I and your Citation II/SP. Can you share your opinions? Again, thank you for your comments and your time. John
  6. I presently very much enjoy flying the Siai Marchetti SF260 in a GA environment. I have an interest in acquiring a high quality business jet. Although my interests remain firmly with the GA experience, I am intrigued by the thought of expanding my activities to include a faster, more complex aircraft that will also take me to more distant destinations. I honestly do not, at this time, have an interest in learning to operate commercial airliners. I greatly appreciate the quality of the RealAir SF260 and I take advantage of the wonderful VC experience and flight model it provides. I am hoping a smaller business jet of similiar quality exists in our community. I have been looking closely at the Eaglesoft products. My concerns lay mainly in the fact that I am an older guy whose eyes are not the best in the world and I note the reviews of the Eaglesoft aircraft to date mention certain desires on the part of the reviewers that portions of the panels could benefit from better resolution. I also noticed some rather oblique references to certain shortcomings in some of their flight models. Like many who are presently on the sidelines of this issue and who have never enjoyed their products, I try to be circumspect with regard to those comments however they do raise concerns. I am quite aware of the existance of many multi-engine prop aircraft that would effectively expand my horizons however, I am hoping to place a brand-new jet in my virtual hanger and have the experience of learning - over the upcoming holiday - how to operate it properly. I believe my system is robust enough to operate most any of the offerings presently out there. I have studied all of the reviews I could come across in the various archives and I am now reaching out to the community for your advice and counsel. You all represent a wonderful resource to folks like me. If you presently enjoy flying a very realistic, smaller business jet that, you believe, would represent a great transition for a committed single-engine prop GA enthusiast who is quite willing to spend the time necessary to learn how to properly operate it, I would love to have your recommendation. The primary concerns for me will be quality and overall realism. I am much more comfortable owning a very few aircraft, each of very high quality. Thanks for taking the time to read this post! John
  7. Good Morning all,I am interested in chatting with anyone who has installed the Visiontek HD4670x2 quad card and who might be using it presently. I am using this card as I wished to operate fs9 in a four-monitor environment. I am "fiddling" with the ATI Catalyst settings and not really sure about whether or not I have the card set up properly. My system includes Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit), a MSI X58 Pro-E motherboard with an Intel core i7 processor 950 @ 3.07 Ghz. I have 8 Gigs of DDR3 ram installed. I would appreciate any suggestions and/or advice. Thank you.
  8. What diversity! It's no wonder this hobby is so interesting. I like to fly prop GA aircraft "low and slow". I have ventured out from home on an extended voyage that will take me to places not yet envisioned. I started with an atlas, several charts and a few directories. The idea was to stay within the capabilities of the aircraft - in this case a Marchetti SF260 - and to visit a bunch of places I had never been able to in real life. Fly in "real-time" and figure out ways to travel from one place to another staying within the flight parameter limitations associated with the aircraft. I find it to be great fun. I plan lots of relatively short hops easily done within the time frames I have to dedicate to the hobby. Oceans will present no problems. In my mind and using my imagination, I have already arranged to ship the aircraft to a variety of locations. Once there, I will re-assemble, check everything out to make sure all is OK, and head off with equal abandon! You would be amazed just how many folks know of my interest in flying and ask me where I am parked tonight? The biggest thing I could offer is to remain as realistic as you can during the whole process. In my experience, once you start to deviate from reality you start to pay a price. Your interest wanes because you have lost an important part of the puzzle - the creative effort necessary to overcome some of the difficulties inherent in trying to maintain the necessary realism. For goodness sake! I hope you continue to enjoy simming. Look at the knowledge you have accumulated already and Imagine the enjoyment that continues to await you as you apply that hard-won knowledge to new and as yet untried opportunities and challenges! Enjoy!
  9. Thank you very much, Gentlemen. Opa, I appreciate your suggestion regarding the UAC. I disabled that function and re-installed the scenery. Boeingsta, you provided the final bit of knowledge that had been missing. It had not dawned on me to click "OK" first and then click on the "target area". Once I did that everything went as it should. I thank you both for your kindness and your willingness to help. John
  10. Hi Opa,Thank you very much for your suggestion and the information. I viewed both the written tutorial and the video demonstrating the same technique. Unfortunately, in my case anyway, the fix did not work. When I left-click in the "target area" nothing happens. If I right-click in the "target area" I get the normal right-click window. Back to square one I guess.John
  11. I just had an interesting situation occur and I am hoping someone else has had a similiar experence and has resolved this issue. I downloaded and ran QLRP4UT.exe. The installer placed the "QLRP4UT" folder in my "Addon Scenery" folder within fs9. I then started fs9 and went to settings -> scenery library. Once there, I clicked on "add area" and navigated to the "addon scenery" folder. I double-clicked the "addon scenery" folder to open it and then I selected the "QLRP4UT" folder. At this time I see the following: the "directory" box contains the full directory path to the "QLRP4UT" folder (C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon scenery\QLRP4UT) and the "scenery area title" box contains "QLRP4UT". When I click on "OK" to bring that scenery folder into my library the "directory" box goes blank with the cursor blinking in it as though the pgm wants me to type in the full directory path. If I do re-type in the full directory path I get a message back saying "\Addon scenery\QLRP4UT can not be found". Any suggestions and/or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am running Windows7 (64bits). Incidently, UTUSA and UTCANADA both installed correctly into my library. Thanks for the assistance! John
  12. I also have had trouble with Voice Buddy 3.0. I successfully used Voice Buddy 2.0 on WindowsXP Pro. I recently purchased a new computer and the new OS is Windows7 (64bit). I just purchased Voice Buddy 3.0 in the belief that it would successfully run on the new OS because the folks at EDimensional claimed to have upgraded the software so that it would run on Vista. No Luck. The program will install, place commands in the FS2004 kneeboard and even install the help file. I can not get the program to run. When I click on the desktop shortcut or go to the program entry in the "All Programs" menu the desktop flickers as though the program is trying to run but nothing else happens. I have called EDimensional, filled out several support forms, everything I can think of. I simply can not get a human to respond. I really like their program. I enjoyed using it in the past. I am very disappointed in two things: First, the program doesn't seem to work on Windows7 (64bit). Second, and even more important in my mind, even though their web-site claims "support available 24hrs / 7 days", these folks are simply unavailable when you need them. I don't ask for an immediate response but to have no response at all over a period of 4 days is unacceptable. I would advise all who read this post to think very hard before they act on any desire to purchase this product. I can personally attest to the fact that you are pretty much on your own once you pay for the program.
