  1. Thanks again, Dave. I'll prepare a list of available centers and utilize them along the way. Pilot2ATC is very valuable to me and I am very grateful for its availability.
  2. Thanks very much, Dave. I really appreciate your getting back so soon! Regarding radio ranges, are they dependent upon or a function of altitude in P2A? Typically, VHF transmits a greater distance with altitude gained. If not, is there a way to adjust the radio communication range in P2A? Places like PNG do experience VHF radio blackouts due to a variety of factors and so they use backup HF radios to help. I certainly understand that HF radio communication is beyond the scope of P2A at least at this moment. Thanks again! John
  3. I usually fly in the Papua, New Guinea area. At some point during my flight it becomes necessary to report my position, altitude, direction of flight, destination, ETA, etc. to a central location for the purpose of traffic control and advisories. For example departing AYGA (Goroka) and flying to one of the remote bush strips will necessitate my reporting in to Moresby and giving them my flight info. I am dialing in Moresby radar freq for this purpose however I am not able to make contact. What is the best procedure for me to use to accomplish these tasks? Should I be adjusting the Controller Name Radius?
  4. Interesting, I recreated my flight plan - this time IFR (KCAE-KPOF via high altitude airways) and did not have any problems. No Beech ignoring Jacksonville Center. I guess it might be the difference between VFR and IFR operations? Since I did not run into the situation mentioned above I didn't bother checking the log. I may run the VFR plan again and then look at the log.
  5. I have two Beech aircraft in the P3dv4/simobjects/aircraft folder - baron 58 & king air 350 (both default) and both have the proper [Radio] section. I do not have any 3rd party traffic pgm installed. I have followed the VOXATC instructions and turned off the AI traffic in P3dv4. No 3rd party traffic limiter traffic utility installed. Will now turn on debug logging and see if I can discover the problem.
  6. Don't know, Jay. I'll check and see. It's a Beech and it reports in to Jacksonville Center who then responds with a squawk code which the pilot never acknowledges or pings. Next time I'll get its call sign and see if I can locate the proper cfg file. John
  7. As I am transiting south from KCAE to KOPF I routinely hear Jacksonville Center trying vainly to get one of the AI aircraft to squawk and identify.....over and over again.... and I must listen to this frustrated controller until I am handed off to a different frequency. Any suggestions about how remedy this situation? Thanks! John
  8. Thanks fellas. I have not been comfortable simply shutting down VOXATC without announcing my intentions to shut the aircraft down and leave the premises. It seemed to me this action would leave someone "hanging" so to speak. I routinely contact the local FSS and shut my flight plan but I believe some additional notification to ground is in order (maybe not, but it makes me feel better). Thanks for sharing your thoughts. John
  9. I noticed the phrase "word not allowed" in my post above. I am mystified. I used a word that is synonymous with "having a lack of knowledge". I was not aware that this word was not permitted. I hope someone who has real-world knowledge and experience will enlighten me as it seems inappropriate to simply shut your radio off when you reach your assigned parking spot. It is possible that VOXATC does not have provisions for terminating communication and so you simply disable VOXATC when you've parked at your destination and closed your flight plan. Anyone? Thanks. John
  10. Is there a proper way or protocol to terminate your communication with ground at your destination airport and shutdown once you're parked and have shut your flight plan with the proper FSS? Not being a RW pilot I am word not allowed regarding this procedure and I can't seem to find a reference to the proper procedure in the VOXATC documents. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! John
  11. LOL! Story of my life, Jay! Don't ever get behind me in the teller line at the bank..........I'm always in the wrong line!
  12. Your correct, Jay. I agree it would be chaos if everyone decided to park his aircraft wherever he wanted. Although P3dv4 does not recognize several spots located in front of Eagle Aviation they do exist in real life and so I elected to "appropriate" one even though the parking lines do not exist in the sim. I have since moved my aircraft to one of the existing parking spots in P3dv4 that is closest to that FBO and, as a result, everyone appears to be happy. John
  13. Hi fellas, Requesting temp freq change and contacting FSS prior to taxiing is working for me. I appreciate the help. I also noticed something that complicated this issue. I am familiar with KCAE since it is close to my home and I have a favorite FBO (Eagle Aviation). I've taken to saving flights with my aircraft parked next to the FBO rather than at an established parking spot defined by P3dv4. When I start one of those flights using my selected parking spot, VOXATC appears to have difficulties. If I start a flight at one of the "published" parking positions VOXATC is much happier. Might just be coincidence but I thought I would mention it. John
  14. Thanks, Jay. Sorry to be so late with a response. Went to Savannah for the weekend. I'll check it out and get back to you. I appreciate your help and will let you know how it goes. John
  15. Thanks, jabloomf1230. I do indeed have the Orbx NA freeware airport package installed. I do not have My Traffic 6 installed. I appreciate your assistance and the information and will contact official VOXATC support. John
  16. I am having difficulty contacting my local FSS to open my flight plan. Here is the sequence of events VOXATC 7.41 takes me through: 1. Bring up P3dv4 2. Load flight 3. Load flight plan 4. Enable VOXATC 7.41 (receive instructions to tune ATIS in panel) 5. Tune ATIS (receive instructions to tune clearance in panel) 6. Tune clearance (radio check then receive departure instructions and squawk code then receive instructions to tune ground) 7. Tune ground (receive taxi instructions) 8. At "hold short" I receive instructions in the VOXATC panel to request temporary frequency change to contact FSS. When I request a temporary frequency change I am instructed to contact the tower. If I repeat my request for a temp freq change I am stuck in a loop where ground continues to instruct me to contact the tower. 9. Tune tower frequency (receive T/O clearance). Any request to permit a temp freq change at this point is ignored by VOXATC. If I attempt to request a temporary frequence change at any point prior to taxiing I either receive instructions to repeat my request whereupon I get stuck in a communications loop or my request is ignored and VOXATC simply repeats its prior instructions. This is happening at a controlled airport (KCAE - Columbia, SC metro) Any suggestions and/or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John
  17. Thanks fellas. I guess I'll do the same as Mad Mac. Seems to be the easiest "work around". John
  18. I am using VA 7.41 & P3dv4. When I enable VA at KCDN, an uncontrolled airfield without first filing a VFR flight plan it goes through the initialization procedure but then "hangs" at a point where the VOXATC panel states, "completing setup". I wish to simply fly patterns at this airfield and to announce my intentions and position as I do so. When I disregard the announcement in the VA panel and press the zero key no options appear for local flights and/or pattern work, probably due to the hangup. When I tune the local unicom I hear other pilots announcing their respective positions around the airfield. I can successfully contact the local unicom and they acknowledge my transmission. When I ask for a field advisory prior to taxiing they are unable to hear my request and I receive a "disregard" msg in the VA panel. When I announce my movements and positions on the local unicom nothing appears in the VA window again probably due to the hangup If I file a flight plan from KCDN (Woodward Field, Camden, SC) to Columbia Metro (KCAE) and then enable VA it goes through its initialization and continues on correctly asking me to contact my local FSS to open the plan. After opening the flight plan I can proceed with the other necessary communications. Is there a way to bypass this procedure and perform local operations, announcing your intentions and position? The VOXATC manual has a section dealing with departing a Unicom Airport however I cannot seem to operate successfully without first filing a VFR flight plan even though I wish to remain at the airfield. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! John .
  19. You/re correct, Eduardo. Welcome to the joy of P3d v4 addon aircraft compatibility issues. I fear we will live in this world for some time to come. John
  20. I had a similar issue with the engines not starting. If you run through the start procedure to the point of turning the engines on and nothing happens, listen carefully. Do you hear the turbines motoring up? That is do you hear a very soft hissing sound but the propellers do not start to turn? If so, do the following as see what happens: 1. Turn off the engines. 2. Go to "vehicle" in the P3dv4 menu and select the vehicle again 3. Turn on the engines. That simple procedure solved the problem for me. Hope this works for you John
  21. That's something I've never understood. The fact that they offer their aircraft models as being compatible with a platform such as P3d v4 and these models turn out to be actually only compatible to a certain degree is misleading in my mind. Honestly, they do a very good job of presenting their product visually. Why can't they finish the task and make sure that all of the avionics available in each of them work as advertised? I guess their business model doesn't permit that kind of quality control. I have reported these problems using their support tickets and have not received any response. Too bad because I, for one, would certainly consider paying more for an aircraft that is modeled as beautifully as some of them are and receive full functionality as well. John.
  22. Hi John, Appreciate very much the info you shared about the 525. I have a few questions if you don't mind. Are you using P3d v4? If so, have you been successful in using all of the onboard avionics? I have several of the Carenado A/C that have been listed on their site as being P3dv4 compatible and, while I have been able to fly them, I have not been able to successfully use all of the onboard avionics such as the FMS unit if it is available - specifically the alphanumeric keys. If you get the chance, I would really appreciate your input. Thanks! John
  23. Hi Jim, Please disregard the above post. I found the "dll.xml" file. John
  24. I recently installed the v4 versions of both the TBM 850 and the Phenom 100 only to find I can not use the FMS in either one. Specifically, the alphanumeric keys do not appear to be mapped as I can not enter any data using them. Additionally, multiple clicks on the keypad sometimes causes P3d v4 to crash. The function keys (FPL, Direct to, etc.) appear to work, it's just the alphanumeric keys that do not work. I have searched the appropriate support forums here in an attempt to see if anyone else has this problem and I couldn't find any reference to this issue. I have submitted support tickets to Carenado but they have gone unanswered. I would like very much to receive confirmation of the above issue from others who might be experiencing this problem so I could rule out any problems specific to my system or, better yet, I would love to hear from anyone who had this problem and found a way to resolve it. Thanks! John
