  1. is any one able to reach the axisandohs.com site? I was getting security alerts with it yesterday and today it just isn't there. Are the three files needed cached anywhere else?

    Three Day Flight

So I bought the 777 for P3D and loaded it up, then strapped in and took off from KPAE, turning left to 085 I flew for three days straight. On the third day I was over Central China and while doing a mid-air refueling, things went south. Three days. Nonstop, at FL250 at .72M. Three days. Twenty four hours times three. Thats darn pretty good I think. Thanks PMDG, you did a great job, as usual. Tim
  3. I left FSX behind at about 500' AGL on my first P3D flight and I haven't looked back. Sure my aircraft choices have been a bit limited and the PMDG aircraft have been sorely missed, but I knew it was just a matter of time as FSX will not live forever. The fidelity of PMDG will add a wonderful depth to P3D and I can't wait to slap down my money for anything PMDG puts out. Tim
  4. I have always felt that Friday evening GMT is the preferred time to release new software. Not so great for tech support but a great time for the user. Just saying. Tim QW C32A
  5. I can hardly wait for any aircraft from PMDG for my P3D v2.2 and I am really looking forward to anything. Sad though, that the B757 has fallen so far out of favor with most aircraft developers. One of the highlights of my life was jumping into my Fly! II and soaring around in my PMDG B757. Sure I will fly a 737NGx or a 777 but my heart belongs to the 757.
  6. Microsoft Flight Simulator is DEAD. You can thank the greed and monopolistic thinking at Microsoft for that. Long live Prepar3D. A company that has flight in its DNA and the desire and resources to continue a legacy for whatever reason. Creating an add-on for a DEAD product seems to run counter to any reasonable business decision. P3D v2 will cost $200. That seems like a lot of money until you think about it. The last price for FSX was like $80 or some such thing. Then you look at the soaring cost of add-ons. $90 for the T7 for instance. I am sure it is well worth it, as all of the other products from PMDG have been. The point is, everything costs more now than when FSX was KILLED. After MS killed off Flight Sim, for whatever reason, LM picked it up and made it better. If they meant it to be a "Pro only" product it would cost thousands not a couple of hundred. Version 2 is priced in two tiers. Pro Plus, $2300.00 and Pro, $200.00. This tells me that while they are dead set on a commercial flight sim, they have no intention of snubbing the home simmer. Because, after all, pilots come from the home sim market. From kids to retired guys with time and money to go fly for real. So why on earth would you produce something for the DEAD FSX and NOT have it at least operational on alive and well P3D? Oh, it might be different than FSX? Hey, welcome to the real world. There is one truth in this life, things change with time. Get over it and get busy. FS11 would most certainly have been different than FSX, so I think it is fair to say that P3D might have differences from FSX and for good reason. FSX was not perfect. Those that are hanging on to FSX will soon pay the price for that stagnation. There will be products as incredible as the PMDG T7 for P3D, whether PMDG makes them or not. The ever growing customer base will buy those products and continue to buy them as the P3D product continues to evolve, expand and increase in complexity. The only evolution that can happen to FSX? The Trash Can and those add-ons built exclusively for FSX will follow. So I have to say that my dollars will go to those developers that create products for Prepar3D because P3D has a future and will continue to evolve into the next generation of simulation taking advantage of the ever improving OS and Hardware platforms coming. Thanks for all your hard work PMDG, but I will wait for a Triple 7 built with the latest tech and not restricted by the Sim it is built for. Tim R.
  7. I would like to say something about the "filty" airplanes you are selling. I would like to buy my 777 without a scratch, scuff or smudge. Then as my flight hours rise, the details of wear come to life. You can see instantly how much someone has flown based on the wear on their craft. That would be cool. I am sure that would delay the release a bit, but cool it would be. Tim 757 R.
  8. I have been flying P3D for about a week now, and I have to say, I am very happy with my decision to move beyond FSX. I have moved all my a/c over to P3D and will never look back. It is 10 times the FS today than FSX ever was. I signed up for the developer program and will see what I can think up. I might start on a migration app that is easy to use to help folks migrate their FSX fleet over to P3D, which might help folks on the fence about moving to P3D. I wrote Pushback Pro for Fly! and one for an earlier version of FS but I really like the PMDG putting a pushback in the FMC so I will think of something else to do. Sorry to rehash something that's be talk about so much, but after flying this simulator, I really think it is the future of FS. Don't want to dash the hopes of the folks that already moved to X-Plane, but P3D is just that good and will only get better. I have always said, "its not a game, its a simulator" so I think its great to have a company like Lockheed picking up ESP and moving forward with it as a simulator and not a game. Like I said before, buy it and the developers will come and build new things for it. New aircraft are probably the biggest need for a new FS, but the beauty of P3D is compatibility. If you haven't purchased it yet, go get the student version and check it out. As I understand, the only difference between the student and the full version is a inconspicuous water mark. Not sure if that is 100% accurate but it is well worth ever penny of $200. Tim
  9. It’s be a while since I have piped up on the list but after seeing the Prepar3D website today and digging a bit in the forums I decided to respond to something RSR said in another post about the marketing of Prepar3D. It is stunning to me how Microsoft has mismanaged its Flight Simulation business. So badly that it is a wonder they are still in business. So now, it would seem, that MS is out of the flight simulation business altogether. One bright spot in their history, though, is ESP. I’m not up on the details, but I would assume that MS developed ESP and then use it to develop FSX or developed both at the same time. Whatever, it is probably the best thing MS ever developed for the FS community. So here we have Lockheed Martin creating a Flight Simulator with ESP. To me, this looks like Flight Simulator 11. It has the fidelity of FSX, the extensibility of FSX (via ESP), the compatibility of FSX and a company behind it unlike Microsoft. Lockheed is all about flying so whoever at Lockheed made the decision to do a sim, and then picked ESP to build it with, we owe them a great big thank you, or at least a $199 thank you, which they would love. I don’t think they care who is buying P3D. I don’t know who they are marketing to, but when I look at their store page, I see 3 purchase levels for P3D. The retail version for $199, the academic version for $49.95 and the developer version for $9.95/month ($120/year). You might think that $199 is a lot for a simulator, but hasn’t it been everyone’s wish for more realism? A more real flight experience? Isn’t P3D what we have all been waiting for? When I bought FSX, I think I paid full retail, which at the time was $79. Would I pay $199 for something better than FSX from a company that has the ability to take the sim to places MS never could and or would? So who is Lockheed marketing to? I say who cares. We are going to buy it and probably make it the number one FS on the market and Lockheed is going to love it. We will talk of the things we want to have in our P3D experience on the forums and the developers on those forums will pick up on that and run with it. Did you know that X-Plane’s Austin Meyers is building commercial flight instruments now? Did you know that you can get a commercial version of X-Plane? Did you know it costs $750? Do I want a commercial flight simulator for $199? Dang right I do. Do you want PMDG and all the others that build perfection to port to P3D? Buy P3D and they will come. Frankly, I think the majority of those that spend much time on these forums would gladly spend $199 on P3D. For those penny pinchers and student flyers, there is a $49 version and the developer option isn’t a bad deal either. This is what we have all been waiting for and just like all the other sims that have come out in the past, it is up to us to make it popular so that the developers can clearly see a path to return on investment and profitability. That’s why they are in business anyway, right? FSX becomes more and more irrelevant with each passing day and I could not be happier that a company like Lockheed is going to continue to build on ESP. So go buy your copy now, after all, it comes with a 60-day money back guarantee. Tim Rotunda Austin, Texas
  10. I love this plane. It is one of those products that just works. Many times with other add-ons, it is a struggle just to get up to alt let alone arrive at your destination. I jumped into my new -900NGX and before I knew it I was taxing to my gate at EWR. Gotta love that. So I run dual monitors being driven by nvidia gts-460 fed by a Xeon X5650 and 6GB ram. The only issue I noticed at all was a oddity about using controls on the second virtual screen. Nothing that wasn't easily worked around. No freezes, no stutters, no issues whatsoever. All my FSX configs are maxed and I get a solid 12 frames at EWR. It interesting thing I also noticed was that this aircraft doesn't seems to require any more horsepower than do other aircraft, including the stock planes. That is amazing. Great job guys! Tim
  11. Would you all be so kind as to note the specs of the system these amazing screen shots were taken on?With all the extra stuff you are flying with, i.e., REX, Orbx, etc., I was just curious what Ryan's system looks like. Thanks very much.Tim 57 Rotunda
  12. Modeling parts that can't be seen. Geez, my head just exploded. How can you guys put so much into one package and not sell it for what Boeing gets for the NG? Amazing.Though I don't fly the MD-11, 747, or J4100, I simply cannot wait for the NG to hit my SSD and course through my quad core, erupting from my GTX460.About the only thing I have been flying for years now is the B757 (you all should update your FlyII version to FSX) and the Cirrus SR22, but I am looking forward to flying the new NG. It isn't the nicest looking plane in the air, but you gotta love her flight deck. You all should be very proud of what you have created here and what it will do for the FSX franchise.Tim 57 Rotunda
