  1. I'm running Windows 10 as well. I have the newest versions and have reloaded them several times with the same issue. There is a thread somewhere about this same exact problem in FSX but I am running P3D. Carenado claims it is a P3DV3 issue but if that was true everyone would be having the issue.
  2. Bought and installed into V3. Missing textures and control issues. Anybody else having this problem?
  3. Anyone having missing textures when installing into P3DV3 like me? Also control issues like the throttle?
  4. Some good ideas here. Since I'm just getting back into it, I am on a learning curve a bit. I did purchase the GTN 650 as that is what I have in my Maule Mx-7 that I am IFR training in. I have a subscription to Garmin's Nav data base but I could not figure out how to update the Sim version. I know some or maybe a lot of the GPS approaches are out of date compared to what my Garmin Pilot shows for the approach plate. If there is a good link to directions on how to do this I would appreciate it. Garmin's website is not the most intuitive for sure. I also noticed that not all the GPS/RNAV approaches are available in P3DV3. Does Lockheed update that at least? Thanks for all the help.
  5. Thanks all. I am somewhat surprised that Lockheed would not globally update the data. After all they are supposedly the developers going forward and they sell it as a training tool. For me it is real world training at this point so it's a bit frustrating. I don't think Prepard3D will be a viable sim training tool until that is done. Microsoft was able to do it so I cant image it is that difficult.
  6. I've been in and out of simming for almost 20 years (yikes). I recently got back into after reading about P3DV3 and of course had to buy a new computer to go with it. While I am very happy with what I see and how it runs, I am sort of sad to see that the aviation data base hasn't been updated since FSX or am I wrong. What I mean to say is that airports that have changed identifiers are still the old identifiers from years ago. Allentown/Queen City airport has long been changed to KXLL, frequencies are old and airports that have added towers still are not Class D airports in the data base. For example, KUNV added a tower about 3 years ago but in P3D its still uncontrolled. Am I missing something or is this something that Lockheed hasn't gotten around to yet? Will it be updated?
  7. For what it is worth, LNAV + V approaches are not real vertical guidance, it is referred to advisory guidance and is proprietary to the maker of the NAV. It is generated via an algorithm in the NAV. It is supposed to help the pilot with the step down procedure shown in the profile view. I can guarantee you though, if you keep the cross hairs centered it is as good as any precision approach and I would bet my life on it.
  8. Jim, that very well is the issue then. So it is limited to the Garmin trainer even though Garmin updates their (real) data bases on a monthly basis? How far out of date is the trainer? I can assure you that in the real world, KDYL has RNAV approaches to 5 and 23 (LNAV+V) approaches. I fly them all the time. thanks for all your help!
  9. Jim, I will try the update tonight and let you know. Thanks
  10. Maybe I'm crazy. When doing a RNAV (LNAV+V) into KDYL (my home airport in the real world) in the PD3 Maule, and using the Flight 1 GTN650 set to Com1/Nav1. I get lateral guidance but there is absolutely no yellow tabs indicating vertical guidance. So frustrating. I haven't tried a ILS to see if I get vertical guidance on those approaches.
  11. Why is there no glideslope in any of the default aircraft? I dont understand that.
  12. In Prepar3D, the King Air is a glass cockpit (not G1000). The default Mooney (non G1000) doesn't have a GS, only a HSI and VOR.
  13. I need an AC with a GS in Nav1. Almost no default AC have glide slopes and none in Nav 1 spot, why? I remember FSX with this feature.
  14. No, I am using Prepard3dV3 and neither the Maule or the Beech has a GS. How do I reprogram Nav2 to Nav1?
  15. I made some progress. I was able to take the glide slope out of the Caranado 208 and place it in the Maule panel. However this glide slope was operated from Nav 2 and is called VOR2. I replaced the HSI in the Maule panel with this so i figured that it would operate from Nav1 but that is not he case. it is slaved to Nav2. There is more then changing the name of the gage to VOR from VOR2 as I found out. How do i get NAV1 to operate this?
  16. The Beech Baron in Prepard3D has a HSI and what appears to be a NDB (i dont remember). However the HSI is just that, no glide slope.
  17. It doesnt appear that the Beech Baron HSI has a glide slope either.
  18. I'm trying to do some training for my instrument rating. I own a Maule M7 and have a GTN 650 installed. I am using Prepard3DV3 and I have also installed the Flight1 GTN 650, the problem is that the default Maule does not have a glideslope indicator in it. Is there a way of replacing the VOR head that runs off Nav2 with a glideslope indicator? Or a indicator that isn't in the panel would be okay as well. Thanks
  19. Well, either nobody has added the cargo version add-on or nobody cares that the advertisment claims that there will be separate lighting for the gauges and there isn't. Go figure? Here is what is advertised "Separate switches for instruments lights and cabin light". There is a separate switch but it doesn't work. I guess the joke is on me.
  20. I just bought the cargo expansion pack and it said that the night lighting of the instruments would now work. The instrument lighting switch is still not functional. I see no change from the original model. What is up?
  21. Does F1view work in FSX? I thought I remember installing it there as well.
  22. F1view was it. Thanks for the help!
  23. I've been out of simming for a while however when I had my old set-up I downloaded a freeware app that turned my mouse wheel into a zoom wheel. It allowed me to zoom in and out of the virtual cockpit and well as external views. It was great but I can not find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction on what this was and where i can find it?
  24. I am not new to flight simming however I stopped several years ago when FSX came out and I was spending more time tweaking and screwing with my machine then flying. I had hundreds of dollars invested in FS9 and is was running pretty good when I took the FSX plunge. I pretty much burned out and shelved it all. My new machine was purchased not necessarily as a gaming machine but sort of a compromise. I purchased an All-In-One ASUS ET2400 XVT computer, it is not a laptop but a 24" HD touch screen All-in-one. As I said it was not purchased with FS in mind but I certainly thought an i7 processor with 8 gigs of Ram and a 1.5MB graphics card and 3D Nividia capability (including during FSX) could handle it. I can make games like Black Opps look silly on this thing. Anyway despite my telling myself not to go crazy on FSimming again apparently I could not stop myself. In two weeks I have purchased UTX, GEX, REX, and FXT. Even with high settings and stock AC I was getting 25 to 75 FPS consistently in FTX PNW territories. The 208 was the first add on AC that I purchased and as I have mentioned, it has brought the frame down to 12 to 17 at times, especially while landing which is when you need it the most. During flight it is around 25 to 45 fps. I have been tweaking again and downloaded another skin that may have helped. I think I have an acceptable compromise but it is just that. I fly real low, in the real world they call me tree hugger, so high settings are important to me. My point of my initial post was to make sure I was not seeing something that others were not. I think there is a general opinion that the Carenado 208 has frame rate hit issues. To the extent that it can be mitigated can be argued. While I think it is a nice add on, I can't figure out why it has such a FPS hit over the default 208. I just don't see that many differences between the two. If someone knows one or two tweaks that can improve the FPS please let me know. I really want to spend more time flying then tweaking and I would rather push this puppy to the back of the hanger then lower my scenery settings. Thanks
  25. It's good to see that I am not the only one who has seen this frame rate hit. And I agree the Gabe that this kind of hit for a Caravan seems excessive.
