Hi Dazz, got to that information too, but there is a still a lot of confusion with X79 and PCI-E 3.0 support - I'm following a thread regarding this matter on computer forum and so far, you can use PCI-E 3.0 on X79 but have to tweak it / force it to work properly. Initial reports show significant improvement over PCI-E 2.0 in Battlefield 3 - but again, it's too early to say we can state it's 100 % true and it's not FSX. Again, we have to wait ... Any way, sorry if I got someone confused or someone felt offended by my post. greets, Peter

Hi fly_like_an_eagle, looking at your previous posts i don't really get your point regarding PCI 3.0 performance. First of all, test at anandtech does mean / prove nothing. Have you noticed their testbed setup - x79 chipset - and since Sandy Bridge E doesn't support PCI E 3.0, you can't say nothing about its performance impact (SAAB 340 already quoted that too). All you can say now is that gtx 680 is faster than gtx 580 in modern games - both at PCI E 2.0. Like Barnstormer1 said, FSX is different story. We don't know yet, what kind of performance we can expect from PCIE 3.0 vs. PCIE 2.0 - we have to wait for Ivy Bridge and Z77 chipset - and it's at least a month ahead. Second thing we all have to keep in mind, is that we also don't know how (if at all) change in gfx card architecture will influence FSX performance. GTX 680 is totally different than GTX 580 - tripled number of Stream Processors, doubled number of Texture Units, higher Core and Memory Clock - in favour of GTX 680, BUT (there is always one, isn't it?) GTX 680 has smaller Memory Bus Width and number of ROP. So, without decent tests in FSX, you can't state what kind of performance we can expect / get. Once again, we must pe patient and have to wait for Ivy Bridge and Z77 chipset. Anyway, personally i will jump in Ivy B and GTX680 bandwagon as i'm leaning toward prepar3d. Ver. 1.3 looks really good and people at Lockheed Martin listen to community and adress step by step issues we got with original FSX. What's also important, more and more dewelopers get their products comaptible with prepar3d and there is a new price list. cheers, P.

Asus P8P67 PRO (REV 3.1)?
Piotrek_K replied to Kosta's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
Hi Word Not Allowed,it's an upgraded rev. 3.0 (with new B3 chipset). As you probably noticed, some early REV 3 Pro's had 1.01 or 1.03 on their PCB. So rev. 3.1 is a production version with all fixes. Why so confusing - below is an answer I found on hardforum.com :" ... They probably reused the same board and just fixed what needed to be fixed. Mobo makers usually do that instead of throwing away mobos that are already produced every time there is a revision. They just put a sticker over the revision number with the new revision. "hope this helps, greets, Peter -
Hi,here you'll find some hints on subject :http://translate.google.pl/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=pl&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=pl&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.benchmark.pl%2Fmini-recenzje%2FDodatkowe_testy_hybrydowego_dysku_Seagate_Momentus_XT-3179.html&act=urlBTW. - please check date and time setting in your system - otherwise you'll get the result as in your post (your post date is september).greets, Peter

Your welcome,in case of any questions just send me a PM - I've seen the same (even more precise) info somewhere else, but at the moment, simply can't recall where exactly. Will try to find more stuff ASAP in case you will be interested. greets, Peter -
MOBO for I7 2600K
Piotrek_K replied to Grzesio's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
I'm glad i could help, have fun with new hardware - but as you probably already know, wait few week with a purchase. Intel has discovered a bug in P67 chip (so generally all motherboards are influenced). Problem is already solved and new, redesigned chip is send to vedors. Still, you have no guarantee what is on stock at your local reseller.greets, Peter -

Forgot to mention, if you will decide to go 2500 K route, look for "C" batch - seems to be great overclocker that needs very little voltage to reach high frequencies,P. -

Hi, the other difference between 2500 (K) and 2600 (K) is that according to "well informed source at Intel", 2500 is made of lower grade silicon than 2600 is. That news you can find on every OC forums. This is the reason, why 2600 K is no.1 choice for OC and why 2500 K won't clock that high as 2600 K can.As always, final decision depends on budget, greets, Peter -
MOBO for I7 2600K
Piotrek_K replied to Grzesio's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
Hi Grzesiu, you are from Poland I suppose (as I am), to run triple GFX configuration, you will need Asus Maximus IV Extreme or Gigabyte P67 UD7 (both are great overclockers too). Final choice depends on your budget, personally I will go with Gigabyte pretty soon - what caught my attention is that Gigabyte needs significantly less voltage to overclock (same clock for clock) than Maximus does, but this can be "bug" in CPUZ also. Time will tell. Only problem with Gigabyte is that OC software, that allows you to overclock under OS (not just standard BIOS) is not that great as both ASUS or MSI have. Probably Gigabyte will release new software in future. greets, Piotrekp.s. Other boards that are worth to consider are : Asus P8P67 Pro / Deluxe or Gigabyte P67 UD5.
