Thanks, I did figure all that out. The old AAO thread in the MSFS forum had some solutions that when I knew to search for KOHLSMAN made sure I had the correct altimeter settings every time.

I've looked in there and the only altimeter is something with failure flags which I assume isn't what I'm looking for. Is it called something besides Altimeter? Edit: I see it's probably the Kohlsman settings. I've tried those, but wasn't getting any readings. I guess I'll have to try better. 🙂 I use this a lot, it's a great feature and you can even watch your own created Lvars too. Works great. Thanks! I can see how this tool would be useful tho. For me, using dev mode is a pain in the butt, as I don't run MSFS in the same resolution as my monitor, so I have to go and change MSFS, then go back to dev mode, etc etc. Something like this tool would be pretty useful.

I'm having a problem I'm not sure how to deal with. In my checklist, I'm having the co-pilot set the barometer when we pass down through 18,000ft. This should be easy, as I'm just having it use the auto-set in MSFS which I have coded as: [0] 0 (>K:BAROMETRIC) This works, but for some reason it's not working all the time 100%. I'm not sure why. Any idea? Should I put a (WAIT:500) before it? I noticed that I'm going directly from announcing the start of the checklist to the command, maybe that's it? Normally, I would just have the code read the barometer and check that it's changed from 29.92 (or in the rare case it's 29.92 below 18K come up with something to deal with it), but I can't find any LVar were the current altimeter setting is stored. Also: any idea or tips on how to more easily test something like this? I'm not sure how I could setup the plane to start in the air and descend past 18k, and then reset it to test again, etc. Would slewing achieve that? Thanks! Edit: one more. Is there a way to display info I can query from my simbrief flightplan? Some sort of message box or? I'm not sure if I see anything in AAO which would allow that.

That's interesting. I never considered them, as last time I did their voices were very robotic. That was years ago tho. Were they using the Windows voices, as I don't remember even those sounding like that.

This is a feature I've seen with all the different AI voice sellers. It's called voice cloning and you can also upload clips of anyone talking and have the AI duplicate. It's also quite expensive, so I'm curious how Asobo/MS will absorb that cost.

How can I nest a [] for confirmation when using an if statement? My code: (IE:GENERIC_LEAR_STARTER_R) 0 != (IE:GENERIC_LEAR_STARTER_L) 0 != or if{ (@ASSIST:Please Check Generator switches) } I'm checking to make sure I've remembered to turn the starter switches to the generator position. This works, but if I don't have the gen switches set, then it gives me the reminder, but goes immediately to the next item in the checklist. How can I make it wait for my voice confirmation before continuing?

I have to imagine Asobo and MS will at some point come out with AI voices on their own. I mean, Azure is MS and if you've messed with their AI voices, they are pretty good. I'm sure BATC and the rest are using them or Amazon's. It makes sense for MS to want Asobo to use their AI and potentially sell it as well. I also don't understand how they are paying for the AI which is parsing your voice input. I assume that's ChatGPT (are there any competitors?) which isn't just giving their tech away and certainly not to a company selling a product. The real issue is fixing the ATC, which I won't bother arguing with folks about. There's some real fans out there of the various AI ATC addons. But it just makes sense, to me anyways, that Asobo/MS will have their own AI ATC at some point. I know one of their talking points about MSFS 2024 was ATC will be addressed.

I've no idea how they are doing this, because those voices are very much the low tier AI voices provided by either Amazon or MS. And they cost money by the character just like the better ones, but at a reduced price. I really have no idea how BATC is covering it since they are just a one time fee with the better "premium" voices being something you have to purchase character bundles for.

It didn't work well for me with glasses. It might be due to light levels or glare, but the eye tracking wasn't what I hoped for when wearing my glasses.

Did you ever try OpenTrack? I'm curious how that works in comparison with the paid stuff like Tobii. Because if you are just using head tracking, it seems to work pretty well. And give you the option to pause the view so you can flip switches and then return to tracking.

Same, and I have to imagine these have some effect. There's an Eye tracker which came into beta on Steam recently, called Beam, which I gave the demo a try and wasn't overly impressed as it seemed to not track as well when I wore my glasses. Fact of life I suppose.

Well, I think you hit on one of the reason for sure. Both Azure and Polly give you generous free amounts of characters to use each month. And they also have all the regional voices which these programs are using. It really seems they are reselling us these AI voices. I guess with all the different programs which have appeared, we can hope one will hope to stand out by doing this.

...Is allow us to provide our own AI voices. I've been messing with both MS' Azure and AWS's Polly, and it seems like a no brainer to simply let us input our AI key and use whatever we choose AND pay for. Or give us the option to use Microsoft's built in voices.

I just noticed this. What's up with the trend now with paying to be an alpha tester? And for only $100 extra, you can get a t-shirt? I've flown Flight Simulator since it came on a disk for the Apple IIe, and the different ways 3rd party devs come up with to separate flight simmers from their wallets never ceases to amaze me.

Ok, good to know. I'll put it in tomorrow and see how well it works. I did read the conversation part, but I don't think that's what I'm looking to do. At least not with this checklist. But I can see how that would work well for things like simulating interactions between flight crew members. I was thinking about adding in briefings since the LJ35 checklist calls for it, but...later maybe.

I tried changing it to ,Feet and didn't make a difference. Something weird in MSFS maybe. I'll bookmark that sim variables page tho, there's good info there I was looking for earlier.
