Pilot 2 ATC vs. Beyond ATC vs. Say Intentions...
Ok, my 10 cents worth on all this. Pilot2ATC - Not going to happen for me. I have too many bad experiences with the "ATC" falling over and suddenly going deaf. If it doesn't suddenly go deaf after getting through the IFR clearance, it goes deaf halfway through the flight. The time spent getting the flght plan created in simbrief, loading up P2A, getting the aicraft started, runup, out to the runway etc and then only to encounter a deaf ATC is just too often and too annoying. Other days it worked fine but after countless emails back and forth with Dave, lots of 'special just for me BETA's" I just gave up. If it doesn't work consistantly it is not on the table for me. Kudos to Dave, he was always quick to reply, and one of the best support devs out there. But yeah, PASS. BeyondATC - their platform is amazing in that it allows for speedy development of new features. Pricing is great. Traffic is coming and they have the lead Dev from FSLTL to help get that up and running quickly. Fast to respond to PTT is a plus and having to use a more stringent scripted approach to your voice comms is not actually a bad thing and you will get the hang of it pretty quickly. Definitely a contender with all that their ATC and Entourage addons bring to the table. SayIntentions.AI - stunning, amazing voices and AI. Just WOW. Traffic is coming, the price has been reduced to a Netflix subscription. New features coming. The delays in the AI response are letting it down a little but then sometimes ATC in real life take their bloody time too. I suspect this will all be improved over time. Then there is the white elephant in the room, Asobo. They have said that they will introduce an entirely new ATC. So who knows what that will bring everyone. Let's wait and see. So for me personally it will be MS2024 and BeyondATC for the first 12 months. As the game matures I will be keeping a close eye on SayIntentions. Once that matures I will rethink it all and probably switch over to that, even if it is just for a change of immersion and an extra choice. CG

how to start ASE minimized in the systray
CoolGunS replied to CoolGunS's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support Forumthanks for the replies however i should have been more specific. I already knew how to start a program at win startup, and knew about the start minimised option. however ASE does not start minimised, it just refuses to. are there any command line switches that can be utilised? unfortunately running this: C:\Program Files\HiFi\ASE\ASE_Exec.exe /? produces nothing meaningful

Altimeter constantly changing
CoolGunS replied to CoolGunS's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support Forumseriously? thats what you have to contribute? mate, when whakatane reports -27 deg celsius obviously there is an interpolation issue and I solved that but that is not the issue I posted about. stick to the subject

Altimeter constantly changing
My issue is the altimeter keeps changing every few seconds. I cannot maintain level flight because of this. How do I stop this. I'm using the latest build 659. I have FEX installed. I can't find anything in the forums relating to this. I have a registered copy of FSUIPC I fly mainly in NZ with FTX NZSI and NZNI installed. I've had to disable all NZ weather stations below 50 deg latitude to stop the stupid program from reporting snow in the summer. At least I fixed that issue myself. But this ever changing altimiter is making my experience of purchasing ASE regrettable. To clarify, when I mean I cannot maintain level flight I mean under manual control. The autopilot can maintain level flight (i've checked this against my radio altimeter at around 2000 feet and it stays constant) however the alitimeter keeps moving up (or down in cases) every 10 seconds or so. A little bit at a time. this causes the VSI to sit around 100 FPM up or down. If I try flying manually against the altimeter, well you can just forget it. it keeps moving so I have to keep adjusting. and no, I'm not pressing the b key. I'm going nowhere near it. and no its not an issue with my keyboard or controller. the issue goes away when I kill ASE,. so it is definitely this software causing the issue.

Hardcore simmer not impressed.
Downloaded it, gave it a fair go, tried it out. Not impressed.Sorry Microsoft but as a long term MS Flight Simmer this doesn't cut it.I will come back to this 'game' in a couple of years and see if you've really understood the demographics of the flight hungry public.Good luck with it. Yes you will get paying customers but will they be as loyal as the ones you've abandoned? Will they stick with it? Will they keep buying DLC? Or will they get bored? The hardcore simmers don't get bored! That's why we're hardcore.I foresee a new generation of flight simulators taking over from where FSX left off and Microsoft licking their wounds in a market they had once dominated. I foresee many of the MS Flight customers moving "up" to these new sims for a challenge and abandoning MS Flight altogether. I foresee MS Flight becoming a training ground for some other vendor's simulation. I have read somewhere that the old Aces staff are already making plans to muscle in. That's great news and gives hardcore simmers like me hope.I felt I had to express my right to an opinion on a topic I know well. Some people will obviously not agree. It is inevitable. This post may be flamed, it may even be removed - but I won't know because I won't be checking back.I've said my peice.I now go.Bye.CoolGunS
