  1. Use this: http://download.cnet.com/CrystalDiskMark/3000-2094_4-11913645.html to find out the speed of your HDDs. Then install FSX in the fastest one, and the OS in the second fastest. The moment I did that I experienced the flow of FS9 in FSX. Amazing. And of course use and test all the recommended tweaks. Also, I use Ultimate Defrag 3 which has a great impact on stutters, loading times and overall performance. I you don't have it you could easily use: http://www.auslogics.com/en/ It will move and defragg all your files at the beginning of the HDD which is very important for loading times. Even with my setup I get easily 24fps locked, with a fair amount of clouds around.
  2. I think it was inevitable. MS tried to manipulate an already established market. That of the base platform FSX and the addon market around it. The funny thing is that they tried to achieve that with an inferior product. What in the world persuaded them, that they could compete with all the hundred's of people who create amazing products for enhancing, and sometimes completely changing the user experience? Flight simulation is not to be taken lightly, and this is now proven. EDITED FOR FONT SIZE. PLEASE KEEP AT DEFAULT FOR NORMAL POSTING. MOD.

  4. Add to that a very controversial flight model, and you have an extremely demanding package that the x-plane team has to address. I am sure though that even if they choose not to address it, someone will. The shame is that we are just observers of a technology race where our hobby, the one with extremely loyal and knowledgeable members, is left untouched. I would love to dare that someone!
  5. X-plane does miss a lot of things from FSX. But at the moment, it 's the only hope for a new engine, and future core development. For me, as much as I love FSX, I cannot stand the 1024 scenery texture resolution and the constant research for frame improvement. We need someone who will give flight simulation its place among the DX11 games of the time. And microsoft has become a joke. Who will that be? X-plane has a long way to go, but it is the one we are left with. I hope they will realize their responsibility, and bring their simulator to the standards that the community has set, not their competition with MS.
  6. Maybe this is the closest we have been so far, and never in FSX. http://youtu.be/t_4wX45e448
