  1. Today another g2d.dll crash without the autosave function turned on. I am really getting fed up with this. I am having CTD's now in every 4-5 flights. Any clues left?
  2. OK, spent an evening behind the computer and as per your suggestions, Marcus, I have done the following: 1) Removed and completely reinstalled all Microsoft Visual C++ Redist packages 2) Reinstalled latest Nvidia driver (used DDU in safe mode for removal and then clean reinstall 3) Cleared shaders 4) Removed the P3D.cfg file and rebuild it. No time yet to test but I will keep you guys in the loop!
  3. Thanks for the tips. I will work on them over the next couple of days. Something else I noticed. Since the CTD incidence is too high for my taste, I enabled the FSUIPC autosave function with 20 mins intervals. On my system the freeze on such a save is nearly noticable so that's a plus. However, I think that the crashes that I am having might be related to the sim saving during flight. Today I had another crash at 18000 ft out of KDEN on my way to KRNO and this time it was the G2D.dll file that stopped. I rebooted, reloaded the sim and continued from such a saved states. Two were made one at 20:06 CET and one at 20:26 CET. Guess when the crash happened: 20:46 CET. I see a connection here. I have disabled the function for the time being, with me manually saving every 20 mins (sigh). I have to check whether windows is current. I believe it is, but I will recheck. My GPU is not overclocked. Never the less, gonna try out your tips, Marcus en onwijs bedankt. Cheers.
  4. Hello fellow drivers, I reach out to you with a reasonably high level of desperation. I have been experiencing frequent crashes that are being caused by the g2d and g3d.dll files. It is something that has started to happen as soon as I upgraded my P3Dv5.0 install to 5.1 (yes, I have HF1 running). I have quite some add ons, plug ins and software running on the background as my sim setup at home is ever growing. I only fly the PMDG 737 ngxu for a virtual airline, mostly US domestic flights. Below you can find a list of the things that I run. I already apologize for the things I will probably have forgotten to list. event viewer logs will follow below. These crashes seem to occur randomly, or at least, I have not been able to detect a pattern. Out of every 15-20 flights I do, at least one is associated with these crashes. Here are some crashes and at which point in the flight: - Flight to KDAL (default scenery), on final approach 13R, about 12-15 nm out, abeam KDFW, at dusk - Flight to KHOU (SXAD), on initial approach for 13R about 20 nm out, daylight - Flight from KRSW (LVFR), after take off RWY 6, around 1000-1500ft AGL, daylight - Flight from KPHX (Flightbeam), after take off RWY 25R, around 1000-1500ft, night - Flight from KTUS (default), cruise, around 30 mins into the flight According to the windows event viewer, this crash is always preceded by the runtime error exception code c0000005. What I have learned so far is that that code stands for an access violation in which a program is using memory without the proper authorization to do so. Now comes the hard part: what program. As you can well imagine, I am in simming for the 'as close as it can get to real life' experience. Hence my tendency to have quite some things running in the background. I am really (no, but REALLY) not into the 'go back to a vanilla P3D setting and add a program at a time to see if there is an error occurring'. This is mainly because I simply have too much linked to the simm. Additionally, after doing some research, I found that the cause can be quite some things and I am not willing to pursue them one at the time, because that takes away the fun out of simming for me. Since the crashes occur randomly and definitely not during all flights, it is very hard to actually determine what programs to take off line for some tests. Taking away programs = less immersive experience. That is why I am looking for some good advice on where I can find the cause of the crash before I start taking things down. The following things I have already checked and done: - All drivers are up to date (including NVIDIA) - WIN10 is up to date - P3D is up to date - Verified ORBX files at least three times (my research leads me to believe that these crashes could be related to their global suite) - Lowered settings within P3D - Checked CPU and GPU load with core temp and after burner (stable CPU and GPU) Looking forward to some advice that can get me closer to a fix. Many, many thanks for thinking with me. Daniel W. 5. Is virtual avionics still around? Last things I heard they were on the verge of bankruptcy and with a unit over €800 I want to able to count on support. Secondly, I am far from sure their product is v5 compatible. DanielW
  6. Hi, I consider contacting them but they are in a holiday till end of August. Since my own holiday is about to end, I want to make the purchase before that. That is why I posted here. thanks guys. I’ll add it to my shortlist of things to buy. DanielW.
  7. Hi guys, for some time now, I am tempted to buy an mcp for my flight sim to get a more immersive experience. The cp flight unit resembling the Collins mcp is on the top of my list. It’s plug and play and with a driver it should work in the sim, if I have read correctly. Recently I switched to P3Dv5 and I cannot find anywhere whether the cp flight mcp will work in that simm. Is there someone who got it to work or can someone confirm that this mcp works in v5? Thanks for the help in advance. cheers, Daniel W
  8. Decided to go with the FLAi package. Works like a breeze! cheers, Daniel W.
  9. Hello fellow virtual aviators, I am fortunate enough to be able to build up a new rig for flight simming (i9 9900K, RTX 2080 super, dedicated m.2 drive) and because of the aspect of shaders changing on the fly depending on weather conditions I bought the REX Skyforce and Environment force pack. After some flights with this combination I am pretty satisfied but I am missing a few aspects or settings I cannot alter within EF but I'd like to because the simm would look so much better (Rayleigh scattering, scenery and city lighting). Therefore i would like to use PTA (have a key) as well. Since both tools are shaders tools, I have been on a search on the internet whether the two programs would work side by side. I've not been able to find a lot of info on it so I would like to know more about this. I don't know whether this is the right place but I thought that this place gets a lot of visitors from the flight sim world so I figured to try it here. If there is someone who could enlighten me a bit on this matter, I would appreciate it a lot. Looking forward to reading your comments. Cheers, Daniel W.
  10. Hello all, I am using UTlive for the injection of AI traffic into my P3D sim. Whenever I am flying, I love the fact that aprons are not that empty. On the other hand, installing aircraft base models and repaints for them is a real pain in the word not allowed. I am attempting to add some cargo traffic and routes into UTlive. So far so good, downloaded schedules for Fedex and UPS but no aircraft assigments. I downloaded several aircraft basepacks such as the TFS A300, A310, AIA 757 etc. I modified the simobjects.cfg so that UTlive knows where to find my aircraft. When I go back into UTlive to assign the repaints to the schedule, I notice that 'The Fruit Stand' and several other basemodel manufacturers are not listed in the dropdown menu on the left side. Only Alpha India is located here. This leads me to believe that the simobject.cfg has been properly modified to read my aircraft but I cannot make the others appear. Help! What am I doing wrong? I would appreciate some pointers into the right direction. Thanks for your help. Cheers, Daniel W.
  11. According to the latest few test I ran with msi afterburner I am afraid that I have to agree with that. For example in in flight I get good frames in an outside view where the gpu is stressed a lot more than in an inside VC view in the PMDG 737 NGX where the load is taken off the gpu back to the cpu. especially when low to the ground (probably due to scenery rendering) FPS fall dramatically. CPU load sticks around 70-80% while GPU load remains 30-40%. In areas such as Chicago I had to fly an approach into midway with a staggering 8 FPS. I reckon that my choices are to upgrade cpu, cooler, gpu and psu or to get an entirely new rig with the latest of hardware (i9, rtx 2080 etc). Any advice would be appreciated.
  12. Fellow simmers I am currently really into flight simming but I think the experience is becoming a little less enjoyable now that I am running into some fps problems. Before I digress too much first a bit about my specs: age rig: purchased in december 2016 Intel i5-6600 (not overclockable) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3Gb 16 Gigs RAM low end 500W PSU DELL U3415 ultrawide 1440 monitor DELL 24'' 1080 monitor as second monitor P3Dv4.5 FTX (Global, LC Europe, LC N-America, vector, Buildings HD) Activesky for p3dv4 REX texture direct with cloud art REX worldwide airports PMDG 737 NGX QW 787 FSUIPC5 GSX An extensive list of add on airports (FSdreamteam, Flightbeam, Flytampa, SXAD, Tropicalsim, you name it, I probably got it). Long story short: when I attempt an approach at, say Technobrain's RJTT or SXAD KHOU, I get a staggering 10 fps which makes executing a stable approach and a safe landing nearly impossible. I noticed that changing the settings of P3D doesn't do a lot of good. Most noticable difference is scaling down on autogen but other than than I am not seeing a huge increase or decrease in fps when I toy around with the settings. I'd like to improve the fps without changing CPU because that will forces me to change motherboard and all that. Currently that is not really a path I'd like to follow. I'd like to get some advice when it comes to replacing the GPU with something more powerful. I have looked at the GTX 1660 Ti's and the RTX 2060. Would those match with the relatively weak and outdated CPU for instance? What would be your advice? Thanks for your help in advance. It is greatly appreciated. Daniel
  13. That appears to tackle the issue. Got your set of 12 months around the year and I activated one of them and it worked. Thanks for the suggestion. Cheers, DanielW
  14. Bump #1 still having issues. Please can someone assist me? cheers. Daniel
  15. Hello all, Today I ventured into updating P3D to version 4.4. After updating activesky and all, I also dowloaded PTA and loaded Matt's preset that came along with version 2.63. When I then load the sim, the rotating plane model is not appearing and when I load a scenario the screen remains black but the audio is playing in the background. I wait for a long time but the screen remains black. When I exit P3D reinstall the default P3D shaders, I don't experience this problem. Is there a fix for this? Another question: When I use default shaders in P3D are the remaining presets of Matt's set still working except for the shaders or doesn't the preset work at all? I am quite the n00b when it comes to this so really would like to know. Looking forward to your replies. Cheers, Daniel W.
