  1. I have the  C90 and rarely, if ever fly it - even though I really want to like the aircraft, it just doesn't quite work right for me - the turboprop engine modeling is pure stock FSX (so pretty poor), and for some reason, after a while in flight, the aircraft starts to "porpoise"  around a bit, the nose always shifting  here and there, even in calm weather, and I was never able to find or figure out a remedy - I only have 1 Milviz aircraft, the F86, but from that offering I generally have a good impression of their products - currently just bought and am flying the wings off the Alabeo C404 Titan, and am very happy with this heavy twin piston so far...

  2. I do prefer some consequences to poor operational habits - so that I can't extend the flaps at too high a speed, or abuse the crap out of my engines etc. without a bad result,  it adds a level of immersion for me, but I am not a fanatic about to be honest, and it's not ever an instant disqualifier for a purchase...

Something weird is definitely up with the AP pitch controls - the 2D panel actually works better than the VC controls, but the behavior is different for the mouse wheel vs clicking on it (the pitch response is reversed), and the VC control only seems to want to pitch up and never down - I would have thought they had just made use of the AP code from the Carenado SkyMaster, since that works just fine, but seemingly not - sent them a support request, but the behavior is so oddly differnt between the 2D and the VC, I am not sure I explained it good enough...

  3. Will be checking that out - thx...

So far no reoccurrence of my "Direct To" bezel button issue on the GTN750 in the VC, but I am continuing to have problems with the AP pitch for climbs and descents - the Up/Down pitch control would seem like it should operate like the Carenado SkyMaster, but the AP keeps overriding it, still, it is possible I am being an idiot...

  4. Not to muddy the waters as it were, but my understanding was that the FSX main thread (and therefore the flight model - for the default aircraft anyway), always runs on Core 0 regardless - setting the affinity mask tells FSX which other other cores to use for texture rendering and the like, with each successive Core generally seeing less and less utilization as you move up numerically - this scheme at least appears to be how things play out on my system, and on my friend's 6 core system as well, where Cores 4 & 5 weren't seeing much action at all - it is also my understanding that 6 physical Cores is all FSX can actually ever be aware of anyway...

  5. In a way, I sort of view PCars in the same light as FSX, do they both have the best physics models available? Not overall generally speaking, for instance, many folks think XPlane is the superior flight sim in that regard (YMMV), but somehow FSX (with many, many add-ons to be sure), and now PCars have managed to tap into a level of immersion for me that other offerings lack - even my personal racing favorite of old, Gran Prix Legends. So, it looks like there will be a fair amount of equipment switching going on at my  house for the foreseeable future  :Big Grin:

  6. Picked this up as well, and frankly having a blast - it's a great break from flight-simming while I build my new PC for FSX.  There are tons of "fanbois and haters" out there on both sides of the opinion fence for this title, so I ignore them all and just marvel at the sense of immersion and speed I get running Spa - Is Pcars the best thing since sliced bread? Probably not, and it's not the racing-sim masterwork that Gran Prix Legends is (even now), but the hell with all that - I am grinning ear to ear...

...it's been so long since I raced that I still have and use my Microsoft Sidewinder FFB wheel - talk about "old school"... :P

  7. I am a really big fan of the C185 to be sure (especially once I had Bernt Stolle's tweaked files in place), but every time I go back and do a replay of a landing (which I like to do as a technique review), the way the plane interacts with the ground upon landing just looks "stiff" and very "disconnected" from the environment of the simulator for lack of a better way to describe it - a poor description to be sure, but I can't really convey it any differently.

My bush weapon of choice at the moment is Piglet's Porter - if the real plane is even half as capable as this thing is in the sim, I would accept no substitute for it  :im Not Worthy:

  8. And as obvious as it probably is, you must apply as well, just checking the "HD" box won't get it - so what ever region or Global you are currently using, check the "HD Trees" in "Settings" and then go back to your active "region" and "Apply"...

  9. Generally, I am pretty pleased with the results - the appearance of the new tree models is quite nice, with more shape definition and finer details, so much less "blob like" than before - and in areas where the primary graphics burden are "treescapes", such as when I do back-country flying, I was able to move the lock on my framerate up to 30 (from 26), and have that be rock solid stable - not too bad for my pitiful Dell XPS, with a 2.8Ghz Bloomfield (running non HT), with a GTX 750 OC.

  10. There are many aircraft for FSX that model gear compression extremely well IMHO - but so far, the best I have seen is the Quality Wings Bae146/AVRO RJ - its actually somewhat mesmerizing to watch on replay how the landing loads get soaked up -  truth be told I have never checked on the S550, as I think I have been distracted by all the things that aren't quite right about the package as a whole, though I do enjoy the plane generally...
