Cache and Map Versions?
Hi All, two questions if I may, separate but sort of linked. 1. On my 4.5Mbps connection I may not always get all the tiles loaded but I'm assuming if a fly a route / area a number of times the cache will slowly build up? 2. Thanks to replies to another post I have only just become aware of the map_version setting in proxyuser.ini. If I am right with my assumption in question 1, then how does that work? Presumably any cached tiles from "old version fights" will be replaced if map_version is updated so there is a trade off, particularly if the cache is relied upon. You can see where this is going!! Can anyone enlighten me on the above please. Many thanks. BF

Just tested internet download speed = 4.57 Mbps which is pretty much the average from when I've tested it before. FSX / TileProxy detail not as good as the map
Hi All, I have used Ed Truthan's default proxyuser.ini file but have adjusted to use Bing maps as flash earth shows that to be better than yahoo for my area (SW England). I don't know what the resolution is for my area is but the detail of Bing in a web browser is good and property can be identified, even cars on drives (vaguely). However in FSX even with max_lod at 17 (I have tried 15 and 16) the detail even when crawling along with the ultralight is nowhere near the map detail. The scenery from say 2,000 ft is ok, roads can be identified and such, but I was hoping for more. Am I doing something or is my expectation the problem? Thanks for any help.

No Warning Beeps
Oh hum, bit of humble pie here. After spending the morning completely uninstalling fsx, regclean and everything, reinstalling in stages, ie sp1 sp2 etc and the beep did not return I decided to look at my local sound configuration. I should have known better because I have a creative labs 6.1 speaker system and I have problems with config all the time as the sound board utils only have options for 5.1 or 7.1. Anyway found that the centre channel was very very quiet, frigged around to get it working properly and the beeps have returned! Thought I would let the community know!

Thanks but I do know how to get the NAV sounds but isn't there an overspeed beep too - that's gone. All other sounds work fine, its just the beeps. have tried a repair/reinstall but that didn't help but the missing sound file theory stands a chance I suppose. Is there anyway to extract them from the DVD?

No Warning Beeps
Hi All, my research on this has mostly revealed people trying to get rid of the annoying nav beep, but my problem is the opposite. My beeps have all gone, the nav beep, the overspeed beep and presumably any other warning beeps. Otherwise all sounds are fine, it’s just the beeps. Only thing I have tried so far is a reinstall without success. I would like the beeps back, i find they very helpful. Anyone got any suggestions please?

Hi All, I'm running FSX SP2 Acceleration on 32 bit Windows 7 and a Quad Core Phenom Black processor and have installed Tileproxy in line with edtruthan's post. I also used the proxyuser.ini file but have changed the source server to the one that seems to give the best results for the area of the uk that I fly in ie . It seems to be working ok'ish but i am not getting the spectacular results that others are getting. On looking at the manual first thing I notice on page 1 is that it says that it runs best in DX9 mode. Can anyone tell me how to run in DX9 mode please - or am I missing something basic here? Thanks for any help.

Very Slight Diagonal Offset ?
Hi All, just installed FSX Gold on my new PC and seems to be running fine but just noticed what I can only describe as a very slight diagonal offset to a part of the display. Probably best visualised by imagining a slight horizontal split say an inch long on a diagonal plane in a picture that had been repaired but the two sides of the split don't quite match up. I've attached an image. The line on the GPS screen moves with the GPS screen. Video Card is an ATI Radeon HD 5670 with the latest drivers. I can't spot what is wrong. Screen resolution is 1280 by 1024 and the system is achieving 30 fps with all the basic settings on ultra high and the other display settings at their defaut settings. I use the non virtual cockpit. This isn't the end of the world but I would like to sort out if posible. Any one got any ideas please? Ta.BF

Hi All, with FSX if I install a second graphics card (or maybe use the onboard graphics as well as the main gpu), is the frame rate for all determined by the lowest, or are they seperate?Thanks for any help.BF
