  1. You need a Warthog or other base - see V1 Sumulation’s video that he just put up on his YT channel.
  2. Can you reset defaults in the UI or do you have to delete the usercfg.opt file?
  3. Still on DX11, at SFO in the FBW, getting screen tearing, which I’ve never had before.
  4. Makes sense. I could do a 27” 4K with true g-sync, but I think I’ll be disappointed going down in size. All of the 32” 4K with true g-sync that I’m finding are insanely expensive. With the 49”, do you see more of the cockpit horizontally when zoomed out? I was in NY, but moved to GA recently.
  5. Thanks, @psolk! That’s very helpful. I’ve got a 3080 and running 32” 4K at 60hz (no g-sync). If I go to a 34” curved 2K 165hz with true g-sync, I know I’ll get much smoother performance, but will I be disappointed by the lower resolution?
  6. The issue that I’m wrestling with is that g-sync compatible variable refresh rates start at 48hz or 60, whereas true g-sync starts at 1. If Vsync works well than it may not matter…
  7. How important is HDR support? The true g-sync monitors are so expensive - and there are very few with HDR. I see what you’re saying about g-sync compatible monitors - the variable refresh only starts above 45 or 60hz.
  8. My understanding is that g-sync keeps FPS in sync with the refresh rate, which is variable. True g-sync is a proprietary chip in the monitor (why it’s so expensive), which I think FreeSync / g-sync compatible is more of a software solution (I could be wrong). Does the Mac Mini have a Nvidia graphics option that works with g-sync? I don’t think Apple is using Nvidia graphics (and I don’t think g-sync will help).
  9. Thanks. I’d definitely like full g-sync, just can’t decide if I want to spend the money. 🙂 I fly 90% airliners / 10% GA with a single monitor. I’m not sure if I can tell the difference between 30 and 60fps consciously, but I think my brain feels it. It sounds like G-sync is more important than resolution?
  10. I currently have an older 32” BenQ IPS 4K 60hz that I use with my new rig (3080) that seems to work pretty well. My work might offer me a new monitor to use at home, so I was thinking about new options. Ideally, I’d get a 32”+ 4K with true g-sync, but those are quite expensive. Looking at some options, I could potentially do: 1. 34-5” curved 2K VA or IPS, 1ms, 100hz -180hz, g-sync or FreeSync 2. 32” flat 4K VA or IPS, 60hz, 4-5ms, FreeSync 3. 34” flat 2K VA or IPS, 75hz, 4-5ms, FreeSync 4. 32” flat 2K IPS, 175hz, 1ms, g-sync Which would you rather get, and what do you think would be an “upgrade” over my current specs? I don’t have a store nearby where I can see these (though I suppose I could test 2k on my current monitor). But I don’t know how much resolution, sync capabilities, panel type, and response times will make a difference with MSFS or XP11.
  11. Do we need to delete the rolling cache and navigraph prior to install? ( )
  12. @Ray Proudfoot This one might have run its course.
  13. I just bought flightdeck.to ‘s software for the stream deck (works for all sims). The MSFS version is actually open source, so you could download it without paying. It has a bunch of ready-made profiles for a few different a/c, it makes it really easy. I haven’t had time to use it all that much but seems great so far.
  14. So what do you think it would it be like to go from a 32”, 4K, 60hz, non-G Sync to a 27”, 2K, 120hz+, G Sync if I fly mostly airliners? (3080 & i9 at high / ultra). To be honest, I’m not sure if I can tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps, but I actually have some visual processing challenges. That said, even if I can’t “see” the difference, I have a feeling that my brain can “feel” and difference.
  15. Use the Flybywire mod: https://flybywiresim.com/
  16. I don’t usually check my FPS but have definitely had performance issues with long hauls.
  17. Interesting - here is the post (see the last one): https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/progress-update-salty-747-8-salty-simulations/352592/
  18. I believe the Salty 747 was updated, according to a post on the FS forum.
  19. For me, it would be: 1. KLGA 2. KEWR 3. KMSP 4. KSLC 5. KDTW 6. KPHX 7. KPHL 8. KCLT 9. KIAH 10. LIRF 11. GCLP 12. Oslo 13. Incheon 14. KPVD 15. KPWM 😊
  20. I bought Jetliner (and VFR and IFR), and I’m very glad I did. That’s said, there are a few issues - likely MSFS / SU4 and not FS Academy: Jetliner 1. Direct to kills the MCDU and freezes the ND 2. I couldn’t capture the ILS - APPR works, but it froze in HDG/App Nav and wouldn’t capture either the loc or g/a (could’ve been the direct to issue above) 3. Emergency decent - I start the emergency decent by pulling alt, hdg, speed, but it doesn’t seem to recognize the last one and continue with the checklist. VFR: 1. Due to my not so great flying skills, I keep drifting of course a few degrees. It reminds me, and I get back on course, but after a while I’m a few miles from where I need to be vis-a-vis the airport. The problem is, it doesn’t recognize that I’m close, and tells me to keep flying. In both the UK and NZ, I kept flying past the airport for about 5 min, before I looked at my Navigraph charts and realized where I was. When I turned around in the UK, it recognized that I was back on course - but not in NZ. 2. It’s great that you change aircraft, and I’m learning a ton, but every time I’m in a new plane it takes a while to figure out the basics (flap settings, etc). It would be great if the manual had some additional info for each new plane. Again, I think these are great products, but like anything, the state of the sim can cause issues.
