  1. Since i got add-ons like REX I've noticed the GPU takes on more load than with vanilla fsx
  2. for the heck of it I would run fsx in window mode and run Resource Monitor...just in case something is popping up outside of fsx
  3. I can't speak for the 580 but I do have the 570 SC and playing games like BF3 which pin the gpu @100% the whole time and it's never gotten above 70C. I wouldn't think the 580 would be much different. And FWIW I spoke to an evga engineer a while back and he said they definitely beef up the heatsink on their super clocked stuff. I thought it was a gimmick as well.
  4. i think u can easily get more than 4.2 out of that on air cooling.as far as GPU i think the 580's are still too overpriced. But I definitely recommend the superclocked models from EVGA. Extremely stable and runs cool. Down the road you can always get a second one for SLI
  5. I'm ok with V1 and Rotate...i'm not sure if its the plane or the FO calling out V2 but thats the only one I'd like to disable
  6. yes when v1/vr are the same speed. I see a setting for v1 in the setup but not V2 specifically
  7. i think if you do that you lose the "rotate" call out
  8. ok with v1 and rotate but I don't see a specific option just to disable V2. Is it possible?
  9. honestly i wouldn't be surprised if it just something traditional from WW2 fighter jet seats. Probably no 'functional' reason.
  10. This has been the case since before SP1. Steps to recreate:1. in VC, load cold/dark..allow initialization to complete. cockpit will be totally silent.2. goto an external view, i hit F11.3. go back to VC, now you will hear something definitely powered up.Its not a big deal just thought I'd bring it up.
  11. Not to besmirch any of the fine advice given in this thread, but I strongly suggest doing some research before making a purchase rather than taking the advice from a few individuals. We have no idea what your budget is, what you plan on doing with it other than fsx, no idea when ms flight will come out and if that will take advantage of HT?Not that you can 'future proof' a pc by any means, but if you are going to spend lets say $1500 on a system, an extra $100 for a cpu that "may" prove more beneficial to you down the road seems like a small add-on. To me, a system should have the capacity to be expandable and keep up with all that's required from games for at least 2-3 years before having to scrap it entirely. Again, this may not be important to you but it's a decision only you can make
  12. looking at your specs I would think you could get 40-50+ easily. Try in full screen mode and see the difference. Even msft does not recommend running in window mode due to perf hit.i dont have frankfurt but i have other aerosoft scenerys which run pretty fast. I have UK200 heathrow extreme which is a killer and get 30fps there...and we basically have equivalent setups.edit: here's the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927286
  13. if you run in windowed mode your fps will get killed.
  14. i use an ipad. I also use it for some of the tutorials so I can follow along. Probably the most convenient way but a cheap laptop should do the trick as well.
  15. it would be under advanced bios features i think.
  16. Hi- can you post a link to these Simba videos you mentioned?thanks
  17. I have noticed this too. In FSX you can decrease the engine sound slider. Its not the best solution but it does improve it.
  18. If you have Track-IR, you should change some settings in the Track-IR software tomake it work with EZCA7.1 Start TrackIR software and update the list of supported games: open thedropdown menu Games update and select Update.7.2 After successful update restart TrackIR software.7.3 Go to the folder where the TrackIR software is installed (typically it's in ProgramfilesNaturalPoints) and rename two files: simconnect.manifest andsimconnectSP2.manifest. You can just add some symbol to the end of the name.7.4 Start TrackIR software and uncheck Trueview checkbox on the Profile tab.7.5 Open Track-IR srttings in EZCA and check Transform XYZ checkbox.
  19. my gut feeling here is that somehow it got 'unregistered' upon reinstall. at this point thats the only explanation
