This is the system i have created. Am i good to click proceed? I believe all is ok, aside from the Case/PSU. They come bundled with some CPU cooling fan. My aim is to take the i5 2500k to about 4.5ghz, no more. I know stock fan won't give me this, will the one included in the case bundle achieve, or if not can you suggest one that will. Sorry to hijack. Zach, your signature with specs are exactly what i have been recommended to buy (minus the custom CPU cooling) + I was told to go for a 1gb DDR5 GTX 560ti. How does your system perform under high scenery? Chees mate.

In a word. No. You have a similar spec Laptop as me, although mine is made by Alienware. You can fly over the jungle or desert and get 60+ FPS.You can fly in to JFK with all Manhatten and AI turned on and get 6 FPS. Minimum CPU needs to be i5 or i7 @ 4ghz +Graphics 1gb DDR5Ram isn't so important and a decent motherboard.

Firstly, this is my first post within this part of the AVSIM forum, as my other posts have been regarding what system i should build to get the best out of FSX. My aim is to begin flying only main routes (the JFK - LAX, LHW - HKG etc...) This is because the scenery available for the 'big' airports is excellent. (I haven't found any for LAX yet though?) So as a test on my 2 year old alienware laptop (Intel i3 @ 2.13ghz, 3gb RAM and a 240m GPU) i have installed FSX deluxe, bought acceleration, UTX, REX and GEX as well as Nice (LFMN) from Aerosofts online shop (amazing detail, along with all the UK2000 stuff!) So i set every detail to ultimate, got REX to sort my weather and the small 'SHADE add on' to sort my shadows, and this was the result. Only down side is perhaps the autogen buildings, they seem to not possess any hearth or soul. Uploaded with ImageShack.us I know for many on here this will seem standard, average etc, but for me iv'e never been able to create a visual like it. Sorted. I had to 100% wipe my rig. Installed FSX, followed by Acceleration and all is now fine. Cheers.

I have just purchased and began installing Acceleration. Exactly the same happens with this, it begins copying files, and as soon as it gets to Uploaded with ImageShack.us So basically i cannot use FSX with any recent addons, as i cannot upgade from the boxed version of fsx deluxe.

Is this file located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib\managed It is the only place i can find it. I opened its properties and there is no read only checked.

As per title. I have just installed FSX deluxe fresh from the disks, installed the SDK off disk 1 and now when i try and install SP1, i get this error. Error 1310.Error writing to file: Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory. Any ideas? Cheers.

I read it as, his drop is from 40FPS to a horrible 5FPS, rather than a 5 reduction?

I would imagine as well, that the physical elements being displayed on screen i.e. the terminal buildings, trees, houses, AI traffic, are not the only issues. Stuttering could be caused by a badly partioned HDD? If the hard drive has for e.g. an aircraft tail livery in 1 part of the HDD, and the wing texture is somewhere else, this can all take its toll if there are so many textures to load. For me, every time a new AI, air traffic control message was about to be displayed on screen, telling (Air France flight 143 to taxi to RWY 9L) that would cause a stutter on screen. As said above, LHW has lots of these messages every second. HTH

I have you-tubed many search phrases that include 'FSX' along with 'i7', 'i5' etc as well as gaphics card terms, and many come back with the sandy bridge one, which i believe is this i5 2500k you suggested. If i bought the items you have included in your picture, plus a (750?) power unit and tower, i'd be on track to get back where i belong, amongst all the AI i miss and those harsh crosswind landings? :)

What is your computer spec matey? Do you have any scenery installed for EGLL? Don't forget, Bristol may have 5-10 plane on the apron at any given time, Heathrow will have 300+... Every polygon counts, not least the fact London is only so many miles away so all the buildings/autogen there won't help. HTH

I am fine with dealing with them as i built my last one, i just wasn't aware of the current standards. By run it fine, what sort of settings will i be able to set, to schieve 20+ FPS? From 1999 to 2008 i spent £1000's on hardware, software and had so many us and downs.I had a rig capable of running FSX on high (not ultra high) even around KJFK, KORD, EGLL etc without even sweating, all with 100's of AI's flying around. Starting uni i had to sell all the components and buy an Alienware laptop.£999 the Alienware cost, and it cannot handle FSX, so i am looking at buying just a tower to run FSX.I cannot for the life of me remember what rig i had. It was before the i3, i5, i7 era etc, i think i had an EVGA 9800 512mb.I have found this, for a meer £500.
