  1. Thanks for that Kyprianos, now I see that... nothing like the PMDG 737 radar returns for weather or terrain. Regarding the ISG Panels and MODs ... JanekBin has been updating the files and you could PM him for the latest. Love having the extra clickspots ... makes life so much easier. aerostar
  2. Can it be done ? I have Active Sky Next and was wondering if the weather radar can be used with the C550 ... Maybe someone has managed to install it in the VC or create an overlay on the existing display.... ....or maybe someone can task themselves with doing that ? Don't know when or if Carenado would get round to getting it working... aero P.S. Does anyone know if the ISG Panel mod can use ASN weather radar..? Sorry guys... It DOES work... just got it set and looks good in the default screen.. woohoo aerostar http://gyazo.com/14b29d65bc2b4df87f95c019abb03e52
  3. In reply to fogbound turtle's post - ..correct - I can't find a good quality Bizjet anywhere with working FMC ... The C550 is good now though with the ISG mods and it is the best option at the moment, I think... I was desperately hoping the Carenado Hawker X850 was going to function well.... but after the C550 release and the way their FMC works I've kinda lost hope.. I think it's good that Carenado have started to work on the Nav systems and maybe after a few updates they might get better... I like to fly in Vatsim to try and have a bit of realism that's why I'm looking for working FMC's...
  4. Mustang was my favourite plane.... was - because it doesn't work with Steam or P3Dv2 and I have moved to Steam.. I have posted a few times in their Forum asking for 'Flight 1' to update it to make it compatible but they don't seem interested. This is the only 3rd party developer that I know who is not supporting their product in FSX-SE. Maybe with consumer pressure that could be changed.... I've heard that if you can obtain a verion of the Mustang upto 1.05 that will work but you can't update the Airac file for the navigation... Overall it was the best small Bizjet in FSX if you had a good PC setup (a bit heavy on the frames for some because of the large Garmin G1000 screens) Don't understand why they are cutting their sales by not supporting it... When I bought the Eaglesoft Citation X I was immediately disappointed by the graphic quality... I believe it was a kinda port over from FS9. Also, once I'd done a few flights I found that the FMC was buggy and was crashing the sim a lot... I've still got it but never fly it and never tried it in Steam or P3D. I have just bought the Carenado C550 Navigraph update but find the FMS is half baked and painful to use... therefore I installed the ISG Panels pack along with JanekBin's MODS and I have a really good plane with good nav functionality and Navigraph updates.. I have flown it a few times now on Vatsim and it was a treat.... This is my Bizjet of choice for the moment. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/460037-s550-with-isg-fms/ aerostar EDIT:- P.S. I seem to have missed the point.. lol I have Win 7...
  5. RE my earlier post - got it all reinstalled and everything working great... thanks again to JanekBin for his work, CJJockey for his reply and all who helped with this mod..... aerostar
  6. I bought the ISG panel pack and installed the MODs .... really great having the clickspots and able to fly a flightplan. I need some help with an issue though... I started a flight on VATSIM and everything was ok until the controller told me to fly direct to a waypoint (VOR) that wasn't in my Flightplan. I tried to enter the waypoint(VOR) in the IGS FMC but it wouldn't enter.... I started going way off course... therefore I dialled in the VOR frequency and tried to fly in NAV VOR mode but that didn't work... so as a last resort I tried to go to Heading mode and fly to the VOR that way... by this time I had done at least two 180 deg turns and a few squirrley bits in between and the controller was trying repeatedly to contact me... I couldn't answer him as my hands and my head were both full. I then disconnected VATSIM to stop the then screaming controller... I continued by hand and set the ILS freq and course of runway... but it wouldn't capture and was sending me all over the place... Can anyone advise how I can sort this... Thanks JanekBin has done a marvellous job with the MODs and its great also having the checklists and the other mods.. this issue is my fault ... trying to get things working together. I really like flying in Vatsim using flightplans SIDs and STARs etc and with small jets.. I have the F1 Cessna Citation Mustang and it was great for Vatsim... but I now have FSX Steam edition and the Mustang isn't supported .. that is why I'm desperately looking for a good quality Bizjet to replace the Mustang..
  7. Hi JanekBin this looks awesome.... and I'm thinking of getting yhe ISG panels.. can you send me your MODS please. The C550 could be great with your help and it seems that everybody here are loving your work... cheers aerostar
  8. Alternative Link - http://www.mediafire.com/download/85adb92rd83e39t/EGLK_Tree_Fix_Blackbushe.zip
  9. On approach to Blackbushe the trees are too tall and affect the correct glidepath on orbx scenery. This is a little fix where the lumberjacks have been called in and removed some of them at each end of the runway. There is another issue with the extra tall lamp poles in the BCA car park at the start of runway 07, but the lumberjacks couldn't cut them down they said. Until we can organise their removal, caution must be exercised on finals 07 meantime. Link to the Fix :-https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34685313/FSX%20Folder/EGLK%20Tree%20Fix%20Blackbushe.zip
  10. Thanks especially to scruffyduck (Jon masterson) and george GHD and Arno cerretson for their help with moving 'Paro' to the better co-ords and altitude and repositioning the stock FSX Paro airport.. This is a first attempt by me at any kind of FSX scenery manipulation and I've found that I ain't too good at it... here is a link to a download of the airport if anyone wants to check it out. I am hoping that some experienced designers may be able to improve upon it as I think this is an interesting small airport and rates as having possibly 'THE' most difficult and dangerous approach in the world... Here is the link... http://www.fsopen.co...p?threadid=2639 Hope you enjoy.... and any constructive advice is most welcome.. Cheers
  11. I measured in Google the distances from the slope and the start of the runway and the altitude of the slope on an imaginary projected line from the centreline of the runway and they're pretty close when I move the runway to the correct position, length and angle. Can't move the buildings to suit.... which is VERY frustrating Check out the other videos in this forum... http://www.fsopen.co.uk/forum/posts/listposts.php?threadid=2530
  12. I have installed the mesh included in the pack 'Holger and Sandemann Himalaya Mesh' and this is good and gives an altitude of 7333' approx at the airport... I have managed to lower the airport but the 'Buildings' and runway / airport position are the main issues at present..
  13. Hi GHD, The difference is quite large when the position is crucial to enable the correct approach for the turn to land...(and to get the height of the mountain slope in front of the runway correct) The plates show runway altitude of 7333' but FSX and the scenery put it at 7609' (a major difference) Also the most important location reference... the start of Runway 15.. is about 100m too far back and to the right compared to Google co-ordinates.. which are N27.410929 E89.420089 Have put a google landclass of the area under and can see the position differences.... calculating from where the runway tarmac starts - (different runway markings) no overrun Plates say 6222' for runway length As can be seen in the video the visual references (buildings, river, monastery etc) are what the pilot uses mainly in the approach and would be great to have in the scenery also to follow...
  14. E sent... also now purchased the Prokey... awaiting it's arrival Cheers , Ian
  15. Hi Scruffyduck, Thanks for your quick reply... I have ADEX and I can move the runway, trucks, lights etc but cannot even see the buildings. It's as if they don't load in. I have tried moving the airport but the 'Move Airport' function button is greyed out and won't work. I have downloaded all sorts of 'tools' to try and alter bgl, xml files etc but I get lost in the processes (been trying for a week ) Is there an update or addin that I need for ADEX ? Thanks again for your reply Ian PS. I'm using FSX and the scenery is for 2004. (Don't know if that's an issue)
  16. Here's a video of a rookie 'Paro' pilot being guided to touchdown at Paro by an experienced 'Paro' pilot..... ps.. I believe it was a Falcon 900 aircraft in video...
  17. Hi guys I have the freeware 'Paro ' Bhutan airport scenery, the most difficult approach and landing for jets - in the world ! (no jets allowed at Lukla) It's nice scenery but the airport should be at 7333' altitude and it's out of position according to Google maps.... This mismatch makes the difficult landing ' too easy ' compared to real life. I have tried to fix this but it won't recompile properly again after altering co-ords and altitude...... I am organising an event here on our flying group and would like to get this fixed to make it as realistic as poss... Can anyone help ?? This should be 'easy peasy' to an experienced scenery guy and probably take a few minutes to fix.... Here's the airport link... and the Himalaya mesh is there too. http://www.simtours.net/paro.php Thanks for your help... (This airport would be a good project for someone , it's a bit special.)
  18. I set a flight in steady cruise at 250 knots on autopilot/throttle then disconnected the A/T with throttle levers full back.....The aircraft very gently started to slow... but not at a deceleration rate that would be expected (?)I'm basing this on real life flights where even as a passenger you feel the deceleration very noticeably and even your body mass feels the effect as it leans you a bit forward in your seat...
  19. Sorry guys if I'm not being too clear... I kinda understand the descent management etc but.....Is the 737 acting like real world in terms of Drag reactions and Deceleration rates .... ?Also if the engines are put to idle in flight then those engines become effective drag (?) Is this modelled ?Thanks for your input, appreciated...Ian Whitesideooops, I didn't notice last post before I posted my last one.....Ian Whiteside
  20. Thanks guys for your input and advice....Still wondering on the point of Drag Factor as modelled. Does any one think it might be a bit too 'slippy' compared to real ?Would be helpful and put my niggle to bed if any real world pilots could confirm the deceleration rates as per real... there doesn't seem to be any noticeable immediate reduction in speed to the extent that maybe expected in real... From thrust in cruise and pull back throttles to idle there should be a noticeable quick change in speed initially ? Does the speedbrake mimic real also... seems very little difference ? Ian Whiteside
  21. Hi Andrea,That is something else I forgot to mention in first post - question of N1.When descending I was getting somewhere between 37 - 31 % N1 with throttles full back usually I'm more focused on the altitude when nearer an airport therefore under 5000' , say. With regards to AI ... I haven't really noticed relationship but I would say usually off....The point about the N1 that I wished to add is ... when throttling back why is there a thrust registered my idle is approx 20%. If no thrust then the engines would act as a huge 'airbrake' and slow the plane... but with the residual thrust of 35% (approx) is that being negated ? I have a feeling though that the engine flight idle is high for quick spool up response and anti stall of the turbine and that's designed into their operation.Crabbing or slipping in a descent doesn't seem to alter the overall drag of the aircraft though....
  22. HiMy first post here,,, I've had the 737ngx for over a couple of months now and I love it , to me the finest example of an aircraft in FSX... though the Flight 1 Cessna Citation Mustang is up there with it...Having flown it a lot now , I'm starting to get a niggle about the deceleration speed rate in descent and more significantly the rate of deceleration when putting in large rudder deflection and dipping a wing to create a side on component to a descent in order to gain more drag from the fuselage to aid deceleration.I have no facts, figures or otherwise to support my feeling, it's just a kind of gut feeling, I fear I may but talking rubbish but would like some of the more experienced and knowledgable pilots to give their opinions, facts etc....Thanks... and just to reiterate, the PMDG 737 ngx is the the number one aircraft in my hangar at the momentIan Whiteside
  23. Did anyone notice the advert Microsoft put out for a position within the Flight team about 4/5 weeks ago to make ready for testing of product and organise release criteria etc... ???
