  1. n4, Well son of a gun, that was it. lol I use EZdok and it often does that but I didn't even think of that. Thank you! D
  2. Hello, I am swapping VC's from two addon Lears and for some reason, the panel does not show up. The AC are Xtreme Ptototype Lear 20 (panel going into) Franz Luftfahrt's Lear 23. What I have done: Replaces the Panel folder, replaced the interior .mdl file, edited the Model config appropriately, copied any texture files that indicated cockpit and added them to the common texture folder in the new plane. I'm thinking this is where I went wrong. When I load the plane, the 2D pop ups display with the shift keys as normal but the VC is not there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I should not that I am no stranger to modifying AC, panels or configs in fsx but I do have limited experience with swapping VC panels. Thank you, Delta
  3. Old post I know but I only installed this recently and was experiencing the same issue. Thanks to mstreibig, I need not experiment with values and can just plug in your numbers. Should anyone come across this post and find it useful, I'll add something to it. While editing the config, go ahead and change the default vertical speed value from 2500 to something a little easier to work with.
  4. O.K. so...I uninstalled a bunch of add ons, uninstalled SP2 and the sim is running. The lights are back (original problem in this thread) however they appear as squares. I'll try to fix that.
  5. I do not have REX. I run XP Pro.Another odd thing is that I do not have SP1 listed in add/remove. (yes show updates is checked) It IS installed. I'm concerned that if SP1 is not properly uninstalled a fresh FSX install will not go so well. I would hate to have to re install Windows.
  6. "You needed to uninstall the Service Packs first - before you did the repair process."I did not know that. Thank you for the next time.DeltaTom, I have moved the Logbook.bin hoping that FSX would create a new on. I tried the same with the config. file and neither worked. I noticed that the EXE does not offer a line for XP service pack 2 in the compatibility window. Is this normal?Delta
  7. Could the fact that my Logbook.BIN is now a VLC Media file have something to do with the sim not booting?
  8. Yes. They were always there unmodified.I am amazed that the "Repair" utility destroyed the program completely.
  9. Just tried an FSX repair install. Sim lo longer boots (Fatal Error). And to make matters worse SP1 will not install. ("needs 1500 megs, please free up space and run the installer again.") I have 260 Gigs free space. I am so fed up of Microsoft and their crap.Anyone have any ideas?Delta
  10. Waleed, thank you, if I re install fsx, I'll do a fresh install of XP at the same time. FSX is the only complicated thing to get back up and running.VG, no I haven't. I've always been afraid that it'll screw up everything I added, A/C, scenery and such. Have you ever done one?Oh and while I have you hear, do you know of any scenery upgrade for KBUR?
  11. No Tom I Don't use Acceleration. I have SP2 and run XP. Is it possible that I installed an A/C that only runs with Accel. and it messed something up? How is it possible that going back the original FSX CFG. file and going back to the original light texture files did not solve the problem?Something interesting happened. After I went back to the original cfg. I booted FSX and the aircraft displayed the lights for about five seconds and then they disappeared.I'm thinking about a fresh install but what if I end up re installing the add on that has caused this? Sure I'll know which one it is but I'd like to know how to fix it without re installing.Thanks.Delta
  12. I do a fair bit of maintenance to my FSX, beta testing, trying out freeware stuff etc. Everything gets backed up. Recently I noticed that most of my aircraft no longer display nav, beacon or strobe lights which is a common problem. The add ons like A2A which come with their own light textures display great. To fix the problem I...installed A2A 3D lights which did not work (although editing the cfg files to include the lights from the A2A Boeing 377 did work. These lights are different from the 3d lights package, they are specific to the 377).I then re installed the original FSX light textures which were not even actually missing so that did not work.I then went back to my original FSX CFG. file which did not work. The lights in question do work on AI planes and sometimes appear on the aircraft I am flying IF the plane appears far away. Once the zoom is too close, they disappear.I don't see how it could be my video card.Anyone?Delta
  13. Thank you guys for the info. I tried a few things suggested but it didn't happen. Too bad because Eric Cantu's Vistaliners 727 flies more realistically than Captain Sim. But I simply cannot go back to flying with 2d panels.Cheers.Oh and sorry for the late reply.
  14. I know this topic has been covered before, I searched and read...I would like to know the difference between A/C models designed for FS9 vs FSX as far as virtual cockpits go. I have a fantastic plane that I imported from 9 to X and I want to add a virtual Cockpit. I'm pretty sure that the model was created for fs9 so it is not as simple as editing FSX planes and panels. There must be a way. I believe by editing the model cfg? What program would I use to view it?I suspect I should contact the designer for permission in that case as well.Thanks.Delta
  15. I'm with Dave. I am a real world commercial infrequent flyer and I enjoy the semi realistic atc that FSX has to offer. I fly mainly across the US using I.F.R. flight plans. This is a little more realistic however being handed off every three miles means that I can't bump up the sim rate more than 2x or 4x between hand off instructions, sometimes only to be handed off to the same person on a different freq. It reminds me of a real world flight into CYOW once where the controller actually snapped at me for being slow to go to ground. When I did switch over, it was the same guy...all smiles and cheery. In any case, I haven't the 5 hours to fly across the country either. I'm lucky if I can get in 2 hours of sim in an evening. As take off, climb out and approach are what I really enjoy in FSX, I need to shave some time somewhere. Ah Peoria from 360!Delta.
