FSX Jaggy/Shimmering + DXT10 Fixer
Update For now I've gone back to DXT9 settings. This has allowed me to take back over with inspector. Before I did so, I tested a few additional settings with DXT10 and inspector and nothing seemed to work. I'm OK with DXT9 as I personally can't see the difference and there is no performance boost in using DXT10. Plus I guess the DXT10 fixer is in theory forcing FSX to run textures it really wasn't designed to run. I'm still open to suggestions but for now I am at least happy! Thanks, Gary

Hello gb, Thank you for the reply. 1) I still show the video as being there. 2) The settings you suggested did not help. Thanks, Gary

FSX Jaggy/Shimmering + DXT10 Fixer
Yes I've tried that. And yes Anisotropic AA and ingame AA plus the DXT10 settings in the video. I can't think why this would happening. It is like nothing seems to change the picture. Even with this being a default airport (REX 4 textures) it still should smooth out the picture. Yes I've tried that. And yes Anisotropic AA and ingame AA plus the DXT10 settings in the video. FSX Jaggy/Shimmering + DXT10 Fixer
Yes that video. I have the exact same settings as he has as I can tell. I can't figure out why the in-game AA is not smoothing out the textures. I've followed the DXT 10 fixer settings exactly and it is almost like nothing changes. So maybe can someone give me a second set of eyes to see if I've missed anything. Thanks!

FSX Jaggy/Shimmering + DXT10 Fixer
Hello all, Recently I was talked into going to FSX for the PMDG 777 only (for now). Great airplane I must say. However, I can't seem to get the jaggys and shimmering to go away within FSX (and FS2004 to a lessor extent). At first I thought it was my GPU (GeForce 9800GTX+ 1GB) so I updated to a GeForce GTX 760 SC. However, the jaggy/shimmering is still there and I can't figure out why. Could someone please help? Specs below and click on the video link to see my settings (FSX 2014 DXT10 settings YouTube video used for tweaking). Getting very annoying to say the least, espeically since it seems like nothing I change in the DXT10 fixer seems to work. If we can't solved this, I might just dump DXT10 altogether. Airport used in video is default KDTW with GTX Global and Vector plus the PMDG 777 and REX4 textures (maybe it is my REX texture settings, so I've attached them as well). Thanks! Removing Unwanted Views
Hello: New the FSX and PMDG 777 so forgive me if I didn't find a older topic about this. I want to get rid of a few views when pressing A and shift+A in the PMDG 777. Is this possible and if so, how? I would like to be able to go directly to the overhead and back to the left seat and skip the FO's side and upper overhead. I know you can right click this but that is kind of annoying to have to do all the time (especially with the FSX FPS mouse bug). I would much rather have a simple button push. Thanks, Gary

Undocking DUs
Well, I can now confirm that I can move the 2D panel over but my settings in FSX/FSX.cfg kill the FPS and and soon as I un-dock it and drag it back, FSX goes buggy. Guess I just won't undock this. Thanks for all the help, Gary

Undocking DUs
Yeah, no big deal. TeamViewer is a temp install on my Flight Sim computer for the FSX tweaking I was doing with someone. It will be taken off tomorrow once REX is installed. I'll check back in at that time to see if the MCP issue is really gone (I think it will be). Thanks for all the help/replies, Gary

Undocking DUs
Update After doing the full gamut of the new DXT10 tweaks, I can say the MCP did move over. However, it killed my FPS and when I went to move it back, FSX didn't crash but it bugged out. I was testing with TeamViewer running at the time, so that might be the issue since both FSX and TeamViewer were maxing the CPU. I will test again this evening with just FSX running to see if it moves and stays stable. I think I can confirm that it is the BufferPools tweak since it also cleared my mouse lag issue. Gary

Undocking DUs
Hi All, -Here is my GPU as someone asked: NVIDIA 9800GTX+ @ 1GB -I was undocking before trying to move. -I just tried with AERO and color themes disabled, no joy. -The primary FS screen is 1680X1050 and the one I am trying to move it to is 1920X1080 (the smaller screen is better for FS2004 which I am coming off from and will still run parallel). -The FSX.cfg is fresh (as this is a fresh install). I did get the FMC to work once when I was testing a few tweaks. It might be BufferPools. I plan to tweak the FSX.cfg today and will report back. Standing by, Gary

Undocking DUs
Hi, Thanks for the reply. No joy on either thing. I was already extended on the GPU and swapping monitors didn't help. I might have an idea. It might be an FSX.cfg tweak (my FSX is a fresh install with no tweaks yet). Maybe BufferPools? I will be tweaking the .cfg over the next few days and maybe this could fix it. In the mean time, I am still open to suggestions. Thanks, Gary

Undocking DUs
Bump.... Sorry for the bump guys but I just got the PMDG 777 and was directed towards this post. I want to have the FMC and MCP on my other monitor but every time I drag and drop them they go black. They return to normal once I bring them back on to my main screen. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Mouse Movement Rate
Yes I've tried that. That is not the issue. The issue is the mouse just stops responding to my movement commands basically. No issues in FS2004. It works correctly most of the time. Must after a while this starts to occur every few seconds.

Mouse Movement Rate
Hello all, I'm finally, slowly, working on getting FSX up and running for the PMDG777. I did a full install of FSX + Acceleration on it's own HDD (WD Black 500MB) this evening and followed the C++ patches as per NickN. I have a few friends that are going to help me do the serious stability/performance tweaks over the next few days so after the install I just loaded up an aircraft and started to just fly around my home airport to see what was new and make a few keyboard command changes. Everything was going great and FSX was performing very well (compared to when I first bought it on release weekend and uninstalled after one trip around the pattern). An issue started after a few minutes when I went to move my mouse around. Every few seconds, while flying, my mouse's movement would seem to slow up and kind of just not work correctly. It would get laggy or the movement would go from normal speed to like 1/4 normal rate. Just kind of hang in a small position and only move around a small area even though I was commanding a large movement. This is not the FSX FPS issue since the FPS didn't budge (still locked at 20 from default). I could be wrong but I've had 7 years to follow FSX's progress and did quite a bit of research tonight before making this post. The mouse basically stopped following my movement commands. I tried a few different USB ports and removed my mouse pad but to no avail. Remember: No FSX.cfg tweaks have been applied and no NVIDIA Inspector settings have been applied. Specs OS: Windows 7 64-bit CPU: AMD 965 Phenom II Black @ 3.4GHz (no overclock) GPU: NVIDIA 9800GTX+ 1GB RAM: 16GB (4X4) Ripjaws @ 1600Mhz MOBO: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 (rev.1) HDD: 2X WD Black 7200RPM 500MB HDD (B: drive is for FSX and C: drive is for Windows and FS2004) Heat Sink: After market Corsair air cooler Mouse: RAT gaming mouse Yoke/Ruder Peddles: CH Products FSX in windowed mode with two monitors (game on one monitor and other open for 2D panels, Active Sky, Squawk Box, etc) I hope I described this correctly and hopefully someone could help. This is not the start to the "smooth" transition I was looking for. Thank you, Gary

Updated FSDT AFCAD for KORD
For FS9.

Updated FSDT AFCAD for KORD
None taken..... and you're correct, teach a man to fish. It might come to that as well. I just didn't want to screw anything up totally.

Updated FSDT AFCAD for KORD
I don't think that is the case. I've seen mods for imaginesim and flytampa (amongst others) pop up on here. Plus I got the vibe that they don't care if you update it since they don't support it anymore. Maybe not..... either way, I'm still holding out hope.

Updated FSDT AFCAD for KORD
I'm not sure.... I don't know what it takes. I'm just repeating what I was told over on their forums. Someone said it was a simple afcad update. I just wish they would still support it. Not a full update, just add the new runways and taxiways. I'd pay for it too. That is why I turned to Avsim. Thanks!

Updated FSDT AFCAD for KORD
Hello All, I was wondering if anyone is, knows of, or is planning on working on an update for FSDT KORD. Just a simple AFCAD update for the new runways and taxiways. It would be amazing if someone would do this (I don't have these skills myself). FSDT has already said they will NOT be doing an AFCAD update for KORD on FS9. Thanks in advance! gmcg

FS9.CFG/Loading Help
No luck..... it must be the fs2004 default settings and I'm probably looking at very normal behavior that is unchanged within FS2004. I still have some popping (no hitching) at flytampaKMIA and FSDT KORD (two payware airports I tested the re-built .cfg) but I've always had that. Like I said, what got me on the kick was the freeware airport, not the norm however. I guess it is just one of those things I really never noticed and will have to live with, as every other FS2004 user probably does. Thanks, gmcg

FS9.CFG/Loading Help
Tired full autogen sliders.... no difference yesterday, will try again. I'll take some time this afternoon and mess with the fs9.cfg some more. I'm currently flying with a MIP of 1, just to see. Like I said, I think the freeware airport in question is always going to do this.I only pulled out the airport I wanted. Didn't use the LC or anything else from the original file. gmcg

FS9.CFG/Loading Help
Maybe this will help what I'm looking for. Say my loading radius around my airplane is 2 miles. So within 2 mikes, everything is loaded and clear. When something comes in contact with the 2 mile radius, it loads up, sometimes popping (no hitching but not appealing to the eye). Runway markings, lights (at night), trees, etc. What I'm looking for is to increase that load radius out past 2 miles to like 5, 6, 7, etc. Away from me. MIP settings, what? I think the freeware secenery that started me on this new push to fix this isn't the greatest and will have closer load up issues no matter what but I have to believe extending my loading radius has to be possible. I don't seem to notice it as bad on some professional FS videos from edetroit and such. I'll be happy to post a video if that would help. Thanks, gmcg
