  1. Not sure if this has been posted here before but I just saw it today and thought it was really cool. http://www.wimp.com/index.php?page=video&video_id=coolestflight&/ Not your usual...
  2. How about extract it to My Documents first then copy it there, I assume it is the User Account Control that's stopping you from doing that. Also you won't need the uiautomationcore.rar file after you extract uiautomation.dll.
  3. Sorry I wouldn't know since I've got FSX Gold Edition and sp1 + sp2 comes with Acceleration. When you say where to extract sp1 and sp2 do you mean the installer is asking what location? I would assume that the path of your FSX installation would be in the registry and so should come up automatically. Where did you install it to anyway?
  4. I think it's best if you do follow that especially if you're planning on installing some addons which could have problems with UAC from what I've read. I personally didn't do that and installed it on the default location, so far no problems but I guess some problems could arise as I add more addons so picking a path outside of Program Files such as C:\FSX which you've mentioned would be like 'futureproofing' your FSX installation. For me since I've got in the default location, running the installers as administrator seems to work with UAC in harmony.
  5. Hope your problem gets fixed but if you do encounter any crashes from clicking on the menus then I can guarantee you that the cause of it is uiautomationcore.dll, if you're using Windows 7.
  6. Also when I said copy it to your FSX folder, I meant the one where the program files are installed e.g. C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Microsoft Games\ or wherever you installed FSX not the one in your AppData folder which is where fsx.cfg is located. Also from your screenshot, it looks like you have fsx.xxx.cfg and fsx.txt but no fsx.cfg file. Can you confirm if you actually have one.
  7. You're going to need to extract the file first as .rar is a compressed file format and you need to get uiautomationcore.dll which is inside it. Unless you don't have any program to extract it, get 7zip (free) install it, move uiautomationcore.rar (which is the one you downloaded from my previous post) to My documents then open 7zip, extract it and copy uiautomationcore.dll to your FSX folder. Done.
  8. Assuming that you're using Windows 7, the most likely cause of the crash based on what you said would be the uiautomationcore.dll file. Follow this link http://#####.wordpress.com/fsx-software-and-hardware-guide/ and halfway down the page under Menu Crashes and Fix AKA UIAutomationcore.dll-Fix download the file and place it on your FSX root folder. That should solve it.
  9. That's probably because of UAC. What you can do is save it into another location like My Documents then copying it back to it's original location and click yes if user account control asks you if you want to allow the change.
